So what exactly is Destiny?

I thought the Alpha was utterly tedious. It completely put me off the game. Was the beta somehow better/different, or am I just not going to like this at all?

It was basically exactly the same as the alpha.

I think the main fun for this game is going to be the multiplayer raids however finding the people to do these with will be difficult, especially on a console. The mmo part I think will get boring quickly and the PvP will be an aquired taste.

Call me a fanboy all you like, but that is the most arrogant post I've read in my entire life.

Seriously, it's like some of you can't embrace the fact that Destiny is actually loved by many people and it deserves the hype itself.

Uh....no...that's not the case. I don't want the game to fail, I never said I wanted the game to fail. I'm not sure how an opinion == arrogance? I thought the game did not really have that much content (yes, I know it was a beta).

I hope people like the game and I hope I'm wrong. Not sure where you get the idea that that post was intended to be arrogant.

Ah... yeah... sorry about that. My fanboyism got in the way again.

Basically, let's say that the past few weeks have been rough in regards to people's opinions regarding to the game. (No Raid matchmaking, etc...)

Again, I apologize for being passive-agressive. I'm just tired today so I couldn't know what the hell was I doing. >_>

No worries :) We all have those days.

Enjoy the 9th!

Maybe don't take other peoples opinions as a personal insult to your taste and stop yourself when you feel the need to reply to everyone's posts regarding Destiny?

If people feel the need to categorize the game, why not file it under For Me or Not For Me. If it is a For Me, buy it and enjoy it. If it is a Not For Me, forget about it.

I do not understand all the negativity from people who do not like it . Why keep groaning about it? Can't you just move on and let those of us who want to play the game play it?

Anyway, this is a For Me game. It will be the first game which will get me to go out and make friends on PS so we can get teams together. I did not play online games on PS before and never built up a friends listing.

Sorry if this has been answered but is this a game that two people could co-op start to finish?
A friend and I recently played through Borderlands 2 and would like something similar. We would have no interest in interacting with any other players and would not want to be fighting with more than the two of us. Can you play Destiny like this?

Absolutely. In terms of story you can play with 1 to 3 players from start to finish. So two people can play alone.

For strikes however you'll both be jumping into matchmaking and it'll fill in that third slot automatically.

You would of course find people in the open world and they might jump in in the case of public events and such, but they won't "stick" around with you in your party unless you invite them.

There's a story mode where you and two friends play in a series of story missions. And obviously, 2 people can play the story missions together.

There's Strike missions, but it requires 3 people to play them from start to finish. So you gonna need an additional player to with you and your friend.

Edit: Beaten!

The beta sold me into buying the game. I have the limited edition pre ordered for PS3 and PS4. This is coming from someone who thought the game was just another typical FPS. And it's being made by bungie???? Shit, it's probably just Halo18. But no, i was surprised that i enjoyed it. The music and UI are especially top notch. I really really like the gameplay. I can tell i'm going to enjoy playing the story. The multiplayer is also fun to play.

Basically for me everything just feels gamey in a good way.

You only need one limited edition. All of your content will follow you.

7 more days and you will find out. When will the reviews start coming though?

Destiny is fun.

I haven't really been following or caught up in the hype like most (which is unfortunate because these people did make my favorite game series), but being able to play the Beta cemented a purchase from me as I had a blast with the gameplay.

Its a game that while being a solid shooter is being talked up way to much (in my opinion). I don't really want to get it but I know some people getting it so I'm thinking about it.

did you even play the Alpha/Beta? It was amazing.

No way will this end up like titanfall.
Hell I enjoy titanfall more than I did the destiny beta. Im not sure what every thinks is so amazing about destiny. I liked it but wasn't enough to solidify a preorder.

I tried the PS3 beta when it was up.

and all I got from it is that there is a Hub world and you pick your missions from there.
Go from point A to point B and clear the enemies. I did like three missions like that in a row.

Is there much more to it than that? I thought it was open world ala Borderlands but it doesn't look like to be so. Or maybe I wasn't playing it right.

Seems like I am missing something since this is the first time in a while I'm not hyped for a game of this caliber and the Beta withdrawal threads have an insane amount of posts.

Well, there is competitive online multiplayer that you can do, and there is also free roam where you can just roam around Old Russia/Moon/Mars/Venus and do whatever you feel like.
You can also join up with friends or clans to play cooperatively, or invite complete strangers to come join your fireteam.

In addition to that there are Strikes, Raids, and Nightfall activities to do with friends that will require cooperation is a lot of ways.

Finally, there is a whole skill tree for you to make use of to improve your character, and get new perks by acquiring new gear.

That's Destiny in a nutshell

so what exactly is an mmo?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massively_multiplayer_online_game

Basically an a mmo is were they are a large number of players playing on a server and on a persistent world at the same time . Usually over hundreds to thousands.

Nowadays people use it to vague away, like describing a game with a lot of online or always online capabilities.

Destiny has an very low number of people you might encounter that you play with and uses a dynamic matchmaking service when you are exploring . Most mmos or the ones I know do not have a matchmaking service when you are in the server and exploring unless you are searching for a dungeon or a instanced pvp map. Mmos usually have a cap on a number of a players that can be a server like a few hundred or thousands , but Destiny doesn't really have that because you always randomly matchmade with others and you will sometimes may never see them again like a lot of matchmaking games. Unlike most mmos where the player is always there and present with you unless he/she log outs.

Destiny is merely a figment of your imagination. You became so depressed that their were no games that interested you so you created your dream game in your mind.
