So what is everyone's expectations on Jared Leto's Joker?

Seems like he's trying too hard to be different from the other 2. To the point where this character won't even be the joker. Just someone with that name.

In other words, not expecting much at all.

I think he's going to be the weakest link.

Would much rather see the fun of the Suicide Squad than Leto.

Him doing his impression is public, laugh and voice, has been laughable at best.

It's been hilarious to laugh at with Mega64.

" Sshhh..."
*crowd cheering*
"...hold it, hold it... shut it... shut the fuck up"
*crowd erupts with applause*

The fairly transparent attempts at painting his Joker role as something actually driving him mad has been equal parts aggravating and hilarious.

Mega64's Joker Updates have been great though.

Overall I've never been into Suicide Squad. just doesn't look like the kind of superhero movie I'm into.
Last I watched one of these they made fun of dumb bullshit fake articles that were going around so it was really lame. They were trying so hard over fake meme articles?? I remember some joker voice too when obviously he was just fucking around with fans at his concert, they weren't hecklers. He banters with the crowd a lot at concerts.

The funny thing is Leto's Joker despite the awful visual design and behind the scenes posturing seems like a fairly ho-hum version of the character. He just doesn't seem all that distinct so far. Hopefully, his dialogue fares better than Harley's and Leto knocks it out of the park but who knows.

That wasn't his Joker voice, y'all assuming lol it sounds nothing like it. He literally banters with the crowd so much and has been for years and years. Those mega 64 vids are really cringey because they are trying so hard over nothing and bring up fake articles.

I dont see him pulling off the genuinely terrify Joker like Ledger did, that performance of a true psychopath is almost impossible to top.

It should be entertaining in its own ways, though.

Leto is a fine actor. My only concern is that the filmmakers end up fundamentally misunderstanding the character like they did with Batman and Superman... and Lex... and Pa Kent... and most of the characters really.

"I don't like the interpretations of these characters, so they don't understand."

Sure.

Popular with the under 25 crowd, and the whole movie looks like a mainstream studio trying to be edgy

I expect the writing to be mediocre in quality but interesting nonetheless due to doing something different than we've seen before.
I expect the acting to be good but dragged down by the writing/directing not taking advantage of Jared enough.
I expect some people to accuse Leto of doing too much of a Ledger impersonation, and general lukewarm to positive reception overall.
I expect /r/DC_cinematic to praise it as the greatest joker of all time with depth that only the most euphoric can fathom.

Leto is just insufferable while on this job.

Oh Jesus. I thought it had been well established by now that Snyder doesn't seem to have a clue when it comes to Superman

Well established to 90% of people, completely false and immoral allegations to 10% how dare you even suggest it.

I think if you were to put Snyder on a leash then he gets Batman well enough. Take Supes away from him entirely, though. Please.

Warmed up to him a lot compared to my initial reaction. It helped that I read all of (Scott) Snyder's Batman run recently. Jared Leto's Joker now reminds me of the absolutely fucking psycho Joker in Death of the Family/Endgame by Snyder, and that has me very excited.

...are you under the impression Zack Snyder is writing and directing Suicide Squad?

The Joker is like a force of nature, an avatar of chaos. When you stare into that abyss, the abyss stares back. Leto better be careful diving into his inner darkness, it's hard to get back to the surface. And once your back, you can never truly wash away the filth. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the sanest of them all?

I hope they eventually adapt this arc.

Leto's Joker reminds me of Morrison's Joker, who wasn't a bad Joker. Him having tattoos is inspired by All-Star Batman and Robin, maybe. Also, perhaps Mad Love is an influnce on this take of Joker because the "I'm going to hurt you really really bad" scene remind me of a scene in Mad Love where Joker pretended to be a dentist and Mad Love potrayed Joker and Harley's toxic relationship, so it's logical to serve as an influence.

I believe he will be great.

...are you under the impression Zack Snyder is writing and directing Suicide Squad?

No. I'm familiar with the film's production history and the people making it. Snyder isn't directing this, but his creative choices have been shaping the DC cinematic universe from the start. Suicide Squad is still a part of that shared universe, and as such is still going to be informed on some level by the movies that have gone before it.

WB seems to be course correcting pretty hard, and Ayer could very well knock the movie out of the park (the trailers have looked great after all). I'm still going to be concerned until I've seen the finished product though.

"I don't like the interpretations of these characters, so they don't understand."

Sure.

I guess if you want to look at it that way you could.

Nearly 30 years of Batman movies that don't portray the character as he's become established over the better part of century have begun to try my patience is all. Endlessly recycling imagery from one 1986 miniseries devoid of all original context and meaning has grown tiresome to me. It's also been pretty evident from interviews that Snyder actually doesn't fully understand the source material he's working from regardless of his own personal vision.

What makes you think he is the closest to comic joker ?

and ... WHAT comic joker are you talking about ? xD

The one that does the things he does to entertain himself, not to prove the darker nature of humanity. The one who realizes life's a big joke and he's in on it.

That's the Joker I've been waiting for. Not glorfied crime boss or "The Killing Joke is good, let's do that the whole time and to everyone."

Not that either portrayal was bad.

I'm just looking for the man who laughs.

I think I am going to enjoy it. Leto's joker reminds me of the Endgame Joker from the comics. The tattoos are a little(too) much though.

I seriously doubt Heath Ledger's Joker would've played a big role in TDKR if he hadn't died.

nah i pretty sure he was gonna be in it nolan and heath got on really will off screen...
godaman shame..

i hated leto for the longest time... just one of those dudes hate his band.. hes like in his mid 40s and looks 23 but mofo can act..

if anyone hasnt seen it go watch Mr Nobody... amazing film

looking forward to it but still heath made that film the best SH movie to date, so im no expecting anythang of that caliber

He probably would've had Scarecrow's role. Most likely with more screentime due to the popularity of the character and performance.

lol wtf SC is a C teir villian if i ever saw one .... im sure bane would have still been there but yeah no doubt it would have been another joker vs Bman movie... i would have been fine with no cat women, or Roz's daughter ....
to me joker is the best villain in the dc universe ...
