So what lessons have we learned?

Here's a little help guide from this Xbot for you Sony fanboys who will have your own day in the sun some time in 2006.

First off - its obvious that there are a helluva lot more gamers out there now than back in 2000, so you've got more competition to score on launch day.

Second lesson - camp out at EB/Gamestop on pre-order launch day. If you don't pre-order on the first day they start taking pre-orders, then prepare to go out and buy yourself some camping/survival gear.

Third lesson - if lesson 2 fails, buy a tent. That's right. Buy a tent. Fuckers had 2 eight man tents set up on Best Buy sidewalks at 9pm last night. All I could do was stand there and marvel at their ingenuity while I froze my balls off in the 30 degree cold and snow flurries. Prepare for a long camp. You might want to even start between 6-8am the day before launch. I'm not even joking or exaggerating in the least bit.

You missed the point.

The real lesson: Get some fuckin patients. <-- Should patience, I am sry!!1!1one

Or - pick up a few quality current generation game, I chose Resident Evil 4 and Dragon Quest 8, and play them while waiting for stock to come back in. Buy system when good games are available.

Fourth Lesson - Costco is awesome since no one goes there to buy a system. Show up an hour early and you're number 28 out of 43.

Bring warm clothes even if you're in Southern California.

Oh, and charge up your PSP, DS, Ipod, BEFORE you get in line.

Launch was crazy by me. Absolutely crazy. Launches are usually slow but X360 fever hit everywhere. I think the biggest problem is MS undershipped premiums. People left with the core but no one, and I mean NO ONE, wanted the core system. They took it as default. There were still core systems available at midnight last night (They had 24 premiums and 22 cores) but I believe they all went after people were disappointed all the premiums were spoken for. I figured X360 launch would be like PSP but I was dead wrong. I had to work most of the day yesterday, so thankfully I had a buddy stand in line to get a ticket. If I didn't go to plan B I wouldn't have a 360 at the moment. Always have a backup plan ready!

I must have been looked like a loone to some people, especially my wife too.

Not only I didn't get one by going to target 3am, but I manage to worsen my flu by stading in the cold, and I actually had a little argument with my wife in the middle of night.

My lesson learned... is that I'm too old for this kind of shit.
When a new console comes out, I'll be have the patience to wait 1-2 months when there are plenty to go around, then dulge in.

Reserve ANYWHERE....Gamestop, EB, FYE, Toys R' Us, Software Etc., etc. there's probably a million places to reserve so you don't get stuck driving around for 4 hours to come home empty handed.

the real lesson is Microsoft should've just put the damn thing on ebay as dutch auction, now they are just wasting time and money to send those units to different locations, and end up having all gathered in one place ... ebay.

My lesson is simple: wait until there's a semi-interesting title for a system before buying it. Especially if you need to buy a television along with it to enjoy said title.

the real lesson: no TFLO, no sale, cocksucks

Just tents? There were tents and a FREAKIN CAMPFIRE outside my best buy. Right on the sidewalk :lol

PS: My lesson is don't trust Gamerush :(

Can you even call this a console launch? Judging from the lines last night and the amount of people frantically searching today It seems like 10% of the people who actually want one got one. The other 90% are left with nothing.

is this better or worse than the PS2 US launch in 2000, as far as supplies? I lucked out and got a PS2 @ midnight on launch, but I know supplies were ridiculously limited as well.

My big life lesson for the year is that if you think she's a prostitute, find out BEFORE you sleep with her. That way you don't have the embarassing post-coitus moment where you roll off of her, say "Whew! Night, sugartits" and she asks for $500. Let me tell you, I will not let that happen a third time.

:lol

Lesson 20

Remember to lobby Microsoft to stop their marketing departments from giving away half their stock in promotions and competitions.

If you're above like #5 on the pre-order list at Gamestop or EB you might as well forget it.

Which is why I said in one of my lessons that you must now camp EB/Gamestop the fucking night before pre-orders open. Its getting to be that ridiculous.

When did Xbox 360s become available for pre-order at the specialty shops? Did they make some kind of special announcement beforehand?
