So what's the final, CURRENT, verdict on PDZ?

So, by now, you've seen the trailers, game play footages, and everything else that's out there about PDZ. What is your feeling about the game NOW?

Yay?

Nay?

Hold?

I'll get PGR3 at launch, and then read reviews before choosing whether or not I'll get it. Or better yet, I'll just rent it and come to my own conclusion.

Cutscenes look stupid. Gameplay looks pretty solid. I'll probably pick PDZ and Oblivion up at launch, rent the rest.

I'm thinking the truth lies somewhere between the great amount of hate (which I've participated in) and abject Rare love. I think it will be fun, but it looks like fun 1st wave software to me. Not terribly impressive in the graphics, but bringing some nice gameplay especially in the way of co-op. Co-op is why I will try it at launch.

Trailer is terrible, gameplay looks nice enough and fun as well. The ride continues.

I'll probably end up getting it on a whim, but right now Madden and PGR3 are priority. If the multiplayer rocks, then I'll pick it up for sure. I never dug the ES games, so Oblivion can wait. It's always been the same: get excited about the graphics and concept, but forget that the execution isn't that great.

goodd graphics, great multiplayer, single player wo'nt be as good as the first one

people will complain that the multiplayer could better, it won't be the next halo (sales-wise)

that's what my magic 8-ball told me

So far not a single resounding YAY...

One thing is for sure - PDZ is not the Halo for Xbox360. I bought my Xbox for Halo. I fear PDZ is not going to do the same.

I've heard three yays this morning, no nays. All qualified with "WtF is up with the trailer" talk, and all with v. positive impressions from playing it.

One fellow even mentioned a possible approximate score. You know, "Right now I'd probably give it a X.X out of ten."

Yay, especially now that I've seen the Co-op footage. I'm not a graphics whore. Heck, I still fire up the Atari 2600 version of Superman for the gameplay.

I will likely buy. I like the impressions I've read so far, and I don't find the graphic style as offensive as others do.

It looks great imo. Looks like a really good looking current pc game with a list of cool effects on top. But it's the damn fast gunplay that is getting me really intrigued.

Exactly the cinemas were a turn off total! Gameplay looks rock solid and i'm sure the multiplayer will rock so Yay for me i guess.

DCX

Yay for me. The coop video looked great (thanks blim :)). So my launch games will be Kameo, PDZ, Oblivion and Ridge Racer 6.

F, there are too many titles at X360 launch I'd like to buy. Amped 3 will have to wait. Same for PGR3.

I'm torn on purchasing Kameo. I'm not certain the replayability is there for a purchase. Definate rental at the least.

Yeah, I'm not very fond of the fact that you have to turn into goofy-looking monsters.

where is Prine, only he truly appreciates what Rare is all about (and I'm starting to believe :D )

Edit: Actually I always believed

GAF is the wrong place to get an honest answer on a game like PDZ. Check the previews and wait for the reviews.

Where's the right place?? TeamXbox?? IGN Xbox?? OXM?? (jk)

I think you just need to know which members to listen to and which to tune out.

The thing is, they may "honestly" believe what they are saying.

I can't trust any single source. That's why Gamerankings is so great.

Just watch the video on blim's site. It's gameplay and you should probably see if you'll enjoy the game or not. The AI looks really bad, but I don't know if it will be like that in the final version as well. It looks to be one of the unique launch titles at least..(along with Kameo)

This new alphanumeric rating system is lost on me.

Currently, Hold - I don't have any nostalgia invested in PD and I don't see anything yet that's really blowing my skirt up. For my shooting action needs, I'm more interested in something like The Outfit right now.

I'm partially interested but right now I'm on HOLD. I hope Microsoft doesn't rush it for a system launch and gives the team a few more monthsÂ’ buuuuut that isnÂ’t happening sadly so any major gameplay issues from X05 likely won't be fixed in time. I guess there's always hope for patches!

If you really need a launch FPS in the case of PDZ turning out unremarkable you could always pick up CoD2 with Quake 4 providing the FPS fix when its released in the months following launch.

I still remain optimistic however and hope the best for the game.

Rare has delayed this title for so long that I can't find any fault in Microsoft for demanding that they stick to their timetables. It seems that if Rare is given carte blanch to make their ideal game, it will never be released.

With Rare, a few more months may as well mean a few more systems.

It's far from launches best title. Single player looks weak imo as well. Compare the intensity and motives in Gears of War, to PDZ where you're shooting people who aren't even looking at you from across buildings. The deaths are pretty crappy too. There are some impressive effects, the lighting through her hair. And some buildings look cool. But the way they linked them just looks incredibly lame. Give me GoW, GR:AW, PGR3, Kameo, Madden, and NBA2k6 any day over this.

I agree. I don't blame them at all. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH as they say.

It seems that MS whipped them into shape for the X360 launch though, maybe with the crazy amount of pressure and a more prolonged period with the final devkits they could crank out a last minute victory and really polish it up? I'm probably being a bit too optimistic. ;)

Then again I haven't even laid hands upon the game, it could already be the Killer-app that MS (and Rare) needs so a delay could be unecessary.
