i want to make a game purchase tomorrow. its either gonna be ninja gaiden black or conkers bad fur day. keep in mind i have never played either (including the n64 version of conker) so both will be fresh. also i would plan on playing both the online and offline portions of conker. please no haters, i want opinions from people that have played both games...thanks in advance.

Final judgement says you should look for the game used at Block Busters. Its only 5 bucks cheaper but they also deduct 25% on top of their used game selections. You can pick it up for around $18 dollars used. That was my plan till some ass hat beat me to it the other day.

Or maybe just throw it in for one of those 2 for 3 deals.

It stomps any platformer ever released into the ground in the graphics department. Seriously, you must rent it just to see it. It even takes some of the beauty from Kameo, but in a much less classy setting. Rent it.

Why rent? The gameplay is very dated and the controls suck.

Like you, I never played the original n64 version. I bought the game a few weeks ago when it was on sale at Fry's and to be quite honest, I can't say I like it all that much. The visuals are great...unfortunately the gameplay feels very dated. The controls are bleh (the camera is pretty poor too), especially compared to other current platformers like Psychonauts. The game feels really slow for a platformer and I just can't bring myself to continue playing it. I'm planning on picking up Ninja Gaiden Black tomorrow. I never played it when it was released last year so I can't help you there, but NGB would have to be pretty dissapointing for me to pick Conker over it.

That you had to think about this choice for even more than a second means you're not HARDCORE enough.

NGB. Maybe it will turn you into something other than a Ninja Dog!

It didn't hold up well, the pacing is poor, the didn't fix some of the more frustrating parts, and the online is a neat concept that just didnt' do it for me. It's not a bad game, but it's not great either. Didn't see what you were looking to pay for it, but if you could get it for $20, it would be a decent deal.

Conker is possibly the most confusing game I have played. There were sections (ie,
zomg shitting cow
) where I could see a big B button pad, and could through some aerial gymnastics almost reach. Except for the inexplicable invisible barrier which let me fall to my death several times.

After an hour of this I consulted a friend and apparently it was sequence breaking ... even though by a wide margin it was the most 'obvious' solution. I believe the 'correct' answer was to
ram the cow with the bull, again,
for some reason.

Speaking of Conker, how did you play it uncensored after you beat it? I tryed using the chapter select, playing another save file, but I could never figure it out.

There is no uncensored mode.

I dont buy the universal panning..PARTS of the gameplay feel dated, sure, the fall damage is an arse, but a lot of the game holds up really well i think, especially the War & Zombie stages, and the physics 'puzzles' (who needs Unreal Engine).

And of course the graphics are just about the best of any game so far released on any system...stunning.

As someone who played the N64 version to death I loved it.

it's an okay game on the whole, with some moments where the game really works.

The graphics are great.

Not something to purchase, but definitely worth giving a try, even if only to hear the Poo song

I liked it. It was absolutely gorgeous to look at, had many extremely funny moments and played good. On the other hand there were some huge camera problems, some very frustrating moments and too many trial'n'error passages.

Nevertheless: if you haven't played the game on the N64, go and buy this.

I'll buck the trend here and say that I liked it. Hadn't played the original since '99 (and only played it once) so it was pretty fresh to me. If you like graphics, I think it arguably has the best graphics on Xbox (the lava race thing blew me away). Weakest part is the loading as many have said, especially because they put up this damn annoying screen every time. I think it's worth 29.99. Note I haven't played much multiplayer, but if you like that it's definitely worth it.
