This movie could have been good. The idea was interesting enough, and the potential for a decent thriller was there as well. But oh man did it ever fail in execution. Michael Keaton was good, as was most of the cast, but the story left far too many questions. Also, I didn't care what was going to happen to any of the characters at any point throughout the movie. Plot elements were just put into place to conveniently tie things together, which in turn just left more questions. The pacing was a little chaotic as well. It would go from being too slow to too fast. There were a couple of jumpy moments, but those don't add up to much when the story isn't strong. A totally forgettable moviegoing experience.

We kinda warned the forum about this movie like, two weeks ago. You should've listened. It's rare there this a unanimous vote in favor of destroying any one work of cinema, but I think Michael Keaton unified us all in hate of White Noise.

Yeah, I don't think there was one positive opinion in that thread. I think the general consensus that emerged (besides that the movie was ass) was that Michael Keaton, although a lovable scamp, has not done anything of particular value in many years, a fact that (should've) cast an ominous shadow over White Noise.

I just watched it. It really could have been a good movie. It certainly had an interesting premise and I thought it was building to something...until they reveal the guy behind some shit as a guy we saw earlier for 3 seconds and then the creatures demon alien things go after dude and the camera moves around a lot and then the movie pretty well just ends.

Had it been the husband of the girl that died in the car crash it would have made more sense. He got so pissed off at Keaton for bringing up the EVP stuff and urging him to stop. In reality he would have know full well that it would give Keaton clues to his evil doing. At least the plot would have been circular.

Also, the wife appears as a ghostly image on a column later on when the rules for the story explicitly dictate that the dead are seen as white noise on TV screens and are heard on audio devices. If you are going to create a rule in your story that everything hinges on you have to follow through with it.

It is sad it turned out the way it did. The movie was shot and cut nicely and most of the performances were pretty sincere. Some of the scares were also pretty effective. The screenwriter and director simply didn't know how to end it.

As a bit of trivia the location for the majority of the film is Vancouver. More specifically the Homer and Davie cross streets. In reality The architect office Keaton works in is directly across the street from where the girl jumps off the balcony and lands on the glass awning. I used to work on that street.

Yeah, this movie was a mess. The story was all over the place, and all kinds of holes. The sad thing is, with the way it ends, I could see a White Noise 2 going straight to video. And Hollywood wonders why the boxoffice is down so much.

Hey, he was Beetlejuice and Batman. And that makes him a-okay in my book.
