I haven't done a single bit of Christmas shopping, not a bit. Anyone in the same boat? It's thursday already and I have done nothing. Does anyone have issues not knowing what to buy people?

Also, if you just meet a girl, like on the weekend prior to christmas, what the hell is the gift protocol.

I've been done for a while, so I can't empathize there.

However, if you're looking to give a recently-met female friend a gift, I'd go with something small and relatively impersonal, like a CD or DVD.

You could but it's barely been a week so don't get something that might scare the girl, if you know what I mean. Keep it simple so that you don't freak her out.

Yeah I don't like buying gifts for people. I mean, I only feel like I'm doing it because they are probably buying one for me and I'd feel pretty stupid if I didn't have a thing for them. I always tell everyone not to get me anything but they always do anyway.

i buy most of my friends something, but don't really expect anything in return except from one or two people. i just like getting people sweet stuff, usually between $15-30 each.

I just got all my shopping done this morning. I bought two DVDs in total, which is not bad at all. I thought it would be busy, but it wasn't.

A little box of sampler-chocolates. You usually can find one with 4-6 little bonbon chocolates in it for about $6.

I just finished my shopping during my lunch hour. Had to buy a toy for a 4 year old, then a cd for the 10 year old, then realize the 10 year old's little sister might be upset because he got two gifts, so had to buy another my little pony for her. then the batteries, wrapping paper, etc.

*whew* now I just have to make about 15 mini blueberry-blackberry pies for my other relatives and sew a fleece blanket for the sister-in-law.

When in doubt I use www.redenvelope.com as they have suitable 'generic but thoughtfull' gifts. Works for my Mother for boring things and my SO for 'sweet' things.

I hate buying gifts, it may be selfish but I never give as well as i get and I just feel that people never use what I give them. I only get the warm nice feeling when I am dating the person.
