I know a few people who would argue with me whenever I said a game is woke. And would always misinterpret my words as if I was saying there should not be games with women in it or something like that. They will defend woke games to hell and back, and our friendship would be at risk if I pushed against wokeness.

Well, even people as woke as them, that would get angry and lose a friendship over woke criticism, couldn´t finish the new Dragon Age.

The devs make these games to look good, to make you see how totally not racist or not homophobic or whatever they are. But nobody likes these games. Not even people who consider themselves extremely progressive.

The poll results lol
100% Expected. Almost half of the posts on page 1 earlier this week were about the looks of certain female characters and games themselves.

I'd argue that aesthetic is probably a #1, if not top 3, aspect that people hyper focus on here.

Depands, lou2 was quite woke and still one of best game I've ever played. I dont like when game pushing too much any ideology but on the other hand histeria about bald girl(still quite attractive) in new ND game is just hilarious.

I’m more likely to be interested in a game if it’s labeled “woke” but that has more to do with my worldview and life experiences. I’ve always gone out of my way to make friends with people labeled weird and has led me everywhere from furries to swingers. I still play the typical white male hero stuff like Uncharted or Halo but there’s a special place in my heart for the weird stuff too.

I'm not thirsty enough to drink all the tears in this thread. Those afraid of wokeness are the most fragile snowflakes. The OP and other incel posts are so afraid of "social agendas being pushed," they avoid games they insist are doing so just to make some sort of point. Like a dick measuring contest among the anti-woke. No one cares if you aren't buying a game because of "wokeness."

I’ve been playing video games since they were blocks on a screen vaguely making out a character. It’s a video game I just don’t care. In all honesty after playing video games as some muscle bound dude for years as a main character. Diversity isn’t a bad thing. I don’t associate myself as the character but as portal to their realm. So yeah who fucking cares IMO. If the game is fun and I like it, then fine.

I have found there is this dynamic where people who say it does affect their decisions will also buy woke shit and claim it’s not woke for reasons. I saw some people even saying this with dragon age. So the question is would you skip a game you were really looking forward to because it is woke?

Wokeness sucks but "anti-wokeness" is so fucking childish.
Just to be clear “anti woke” is not a thing, and claiming it’s bad to call out this insanely harmful and anti-human political agenda because it just is ok is ludicrous.

Depends to what extent it goes. If the game goes out of its way to pander super hard, I see through that too clearly and it really waters down the whole experience for me. I've learned to not buy games like that.

The point is that gay gamers often don't have a choice and are forced to do str8 relationships in games because the story demands it, but if devs put a gay/lesbian relationship it's instant chaos.
Str8 gamers are so insecure they can't handle a virtual kiss or hug between 2 men.
it has nothing to do with insecurity. its very simple. its an entertainment medium. whats your market interested in? what do they want to buy and play and watch? you are attaching all kinds of uneeded asumptions into things lol.

As a straight white guy i'm following the woke agenda and only buy games with protagonists that represent me 🤷‍♂️
Any race is fine, as long as no preaching about subscribing to wokeism aka secular religion 2.0 is happening, for me, so no bullshit about feminism, equality(which is blatant lie), patriarchy , alphabet ppl or transformers ;)

So you are saying you are fucking childish?

It depends on the situation. If it’s just some TYPE A TYPE B body shit at the character creator I don’t really care.
I mean would be nice if we could keep male/female...but if this body type thing comes additional for people who want it (for whatever stupid reasons)...i couldn't care less.

A game being "woke" would neither sway my interest in the game or make more more interested in it.

If the game looks fun, polished, appealing etc.. etc.. then I'll be interested. I'm also hugely for allowing artists to express themselves in however way they feel. So if their story is "woke", if it's true to them, then awesome.

But it is also hard to determine sometimes. I consider Naughty Dog woke as hell in a bad way in TLOU2, but Nier Replicant features two characters, one that is gay, and the other intersex, yet it does not feel woke to me in the way that western games do.

depends on the extent that it rots the game, I mean there’s a difference between something like TLOU Part 2 vs. junk like say Dustborn

Imagine how gays feel being forced to do str8 relationships in games and to watch str8 relationships in films then...
It's the writing and the other things they push.

Omar in The Wire is near universally accepted as the best character in the series, and beloved by fans. Dude was openly gay in the show.

Few people care if someone is gay in a movie, game, tv show, etc. It's the trash writing, lecturing and other elements that aren't compatible with a civilized country. The same people pushing woke stuff are trying to get MAP a thing and accepted in society.

These people are agents of chaos, openly marxist, etc. They should not be taken lightly and they should receive pushback 100% of the time.

I bought and enjoyed Celeste, I later found out the story was apparently about a trans girl or guy, totally did not pick up on it at the time. Anyway, I probably won’t play it again. So there’s that.

Sometimes it feels like it but some of the best games I've played in the last couple years have been woke af.

Turns out the biggest baddest alien is a girlboss.
Well, it depends on the quality of writing and how the themes are presented. BG3, Cyberpunk, Disco Elysium and similar were great game with good writing they worked well.

On the other hand we have a ton of examples of being lectured and talked to about privilege, patriarchy and more annoy the living shit out of me so I wouldn’t buy those games.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
Depends. I mean y'all know I have an attractive trans woman living with me so I don't have issues with, like say, a trans character but ffs they can actually make that character attractive (like Bridget from Guilty Gear) and not some shaved head figly fugly.

In general, wokeness sucks but I might have just as much issue if not more with DRM and pretty much required day one patches. Aaaaaaasssss.

The woke crap complaining is just as annoying as the woke crap itself. It's a seesaw because both sides are over correcting. I will be happy when it slows down on both sides but yes, the content needs to slow first before the complaining can slow.

My god you people are obsessed with “woke” - whatever the hell that even means. Every other post here is complaining about allegedly “woke” video games. Such fragile male egos. Stop being such a snowflake and just enjoy the freaking games.

I mostly do not buy as it usually does affect the game and the stories and dialogue are not very good or repetitive, if it's just a bit here and there and doesn't get in the way of game play then i would still play the game, but lets face it, wokeness does affect the games a lot of ways and does make them worse.

Not really, but it's fun to joke about it.

Same here pretty much, if the games good then Im not to fussed about the blue haired pussyole I have to play as, problem is alot of these games are just fucking shit.

Im ready for the new Gears Marcus and Dom bareback scene and Doom Slayer sucking the Devil dry.

People who defend woke stuff are truly retarded in a sense, IMO at least, and at a minimum they have such terrible taste that they simply don't notice the bad writing.

What you said is spot on and it shows that the vast majority of people are open minded and only care about compelling & well written stories. Something that used to be the norm and there was sincere diversity that audiences loved.

We are truly living through one of the worst times when it comes to mainstream entertainment. Music, movies, TV shows. 30 years from now this era in time will be such an oddity. There's no shortage of good things to entertain audiences but the fact that people have to research stuff, it was never like this in the past.
