So with the poker craze in full effect, why have game devs lagged?

I can't flip through channels without seeing some sort of Texas hold em tournament going on. Admittedly it bored me to death to watch these guys play on TV... until I went to Vegas. After playing with guys who knew what they were doing, I caught the fever. I've been playing since I've been home, but it's hard to get 10 buddies together (if not impossible). So I turn to my games (which never let me down). You want stereotypical latin guys who race cars for poon tang, there's a genre just for you. You want to kill cops, bang hoes and blow shit up, consoles have you covered. So with game devs milking anything that's big in pop culture, why have they ignored poker? PC has tons of these games, but I would rather play over XBL in the comfort of my couch (especially since these sessions are so long). Anyway, I know WSOP comes out this week, and to my surprise there's no hype nor news about this game at all. Doing a search I saw like 1 thread about Stacked for PSP, but that's about it. Do you guys ever play poker games? Does it just not translate to consoles? Just wondering why there's such a shortage of this genre that has garnered such a large following in such a short timespan.

Isn't there a Poker game on Xbox Live Arcade?

And look what else there is coming:

"PAYOUT POKER AND CASINO XB" from Namco

And this one's already out:

I would like to see a Poker game like Mario Golf. Work your way up the ranks. Accrue money and accolades. Maybe start out in back hall games, then work your way across the country to Vegas for the WSOP.

Would be alot of fun.

Wait, 2K6 is a 360 title? I had read about it, but thought it was going to be on current consoles. Microtransactions could actually be a positive thing! You could use them to gamble real money.

There are lots of poker games. But people don't want to pay much for poker games, so nobody puts much effort into budget software and then they suck. Even that one game that had Xbox Live play managed to totally fuck it up.

The market is so splintered that I doubt anyone can afford to do poker properly since no game is really going to sell that much. Custom soundtracks and Live tournaments would at least be nice features.

xbox live has 2 online games, one of which I hear is decent or at least I see some regular people on my friends list playing it occasionally. I guess there are at least 2 more coming in the game release lists. I think a lot of people play it on pc, I don't think it captures the younger crowd on console quite as well.

If that ultimate card game is based on the gba series (which it probably is) it can kiss my butt since it doesn't have hold 'em just a lame 5 or 7 card variant which no one gives a crap about anymore (though I'll still buy it for crazy 8's online! hawt!). And don't buy the World Championship handheld variants for single player as the ai is broken.

Hmm I wonder how this poker game will sell on X360 considering you'll be able to pick up a poker game on live arcade on the cheap.

Oh shit. They delayed brain games to make it online compatible, and it has chess and Go?
