US Airways currently has thousands of pieces of baggage that didn't make it where they were supposed to go. My flight to Hartford was cancelled and they ended up sending me, but not my bags, to Providence. I hope to freaking crap that I get my shit back before I have to go home on January 3rd (ALSO on US Airways). In any case I have about three major projects I'm supposed to be working on now, and all my work stuff is on that computer.

CONCLUSION: Fuck US Airways right up their motherfucking asses and MERRY CHRISTMAS

More like "Don't fly to Philadelphia, period" -- the whole airport is screwed up right now, mostly thanks to US Airways' troubles.

I did get my luggage when I flew in via US Airways on 12/22, but I had to wait about an hour for it after the flight. My flights both into and out of Philadelphia were also delayed several hours. Next time I'm either flying Southwest or I'm flying into Baltimore or something.

Personally, though, I would've just carried the PC on. Or the hard drives.

Another way our tax dollars go right into the wrong hands. What right does the government have to fund a company? If a company has half ass service and can't operate correctly then why should it? Let another airline open up that will.

The only logic I see for bailing out companies like airliners is no other company is likely to have ready cash or resources to step in and take up the slack. Letting an entire airline fail without taking action is rather irresponsible, considering how few airliners there actually are.

US Air going under would create a imbalance in the air travel marketplace -- the other carriers would not have sufficient resources to take on US Air's traffic, thus they would jack up prices. Think about this for a moment: If prices are raised substantially due to a new condition of rarity in the air travel market, a large portion of consumers would not be able to get where they need to go. Since quick air travel is something of an anchor in the US society and economy, this has potential to create quite a bit of havok.

You may thank our previous and current generations for not having the foresight to construct a nationwide high-speed rail system.

Two years ago, I was transferred to US Airways after my American flight was cancelled. US Airways subsequently cancelled the flight I was transferred to, bumped me off the next one, and then cancelled the last flight...of the day. I had to stay overnight, and then two more flights were cancelled. It seemed on that particular day, US Airways was the only airline in the world that didn't want to fly in the "weather" that was allegedly taking place.

I swear to you, after my next two flights were cancelled, I honestly thought I had died and gone to some terrible limbo, where I'd be waiting in an airport's secure area FOREVER. And this was in the dead of summer, not a major holiday to be seen for at least two months.

When the American Airlines agents came back that morning, I explained - hastily, through the fog of 30 hours of being up - that I just wanted to go home, and that there was a United flight heading that way in about an hour. They quickly pulled me off of US Airways, put me on United, and I was dragging my sorry and grotesquely tired ass through LaGuardia a few hours later.

Never again, never fucking again am I going NEAR one of US Air's planes. I'd sooner drive.

The entire airline industry is a damn mess - this is common knowledge. I'm expecting at least two major airlines to no longer be around come the end of '05. Hopefully, the public will finally say enough is enough of the government bailing out incompetent CEO's that are more worried about their bonuses than keeping planes on time and in the air.

I just survived a flight from Raleigh to Hartford via the dreaded Philadelphia, all courtesy of US Air. I considered myself lucky to only have a minor delay when it was announced that we were all being moved over to another plane - that didn't have room for 20+ passengers. Fortunatly, I got on and, via the magic of carry on, have all my luggage intact. Hopefully they've got their shit together by the time I fly out on the 2nd.
