The Inside Track
This is a quick translation from parts of an interview of Hajime Satoni by the french financial paper "Les echos".
Buying Sega was a very good investment that allowed the company a change of dimension and to have more activities. We can now see much bigger and can plan on being the number 1 company in the game and entertainment business. We want to get bigger and use Sega's assets in arcade and videogames. Gaming parks also have a very big potential.
In this universe, the number of survivors will be limited. In five years, there will be without a doubt only five major actors. Sega will be one of these. For the moment we are between 12th and 14th but we are ready to invest because we do not have enough resources internally. We will have to use some external growth, and we have cash and stock to do this
Sega Sammy will not go back to the hardware marjet. The risk is much too big if in case of failure, and how can we fight against a group like Microsft ? We'd have to accept losing money and it's not something I'm willing to do. There already is enough companies in the hardware market launching new consoles. With the new systems like PSP and DS the market should grow even more because they target other ages of gamers. It's a good thing for us.

The japanese company plans to have a 1 000 billion yens turnover with a 20% operational margin within 5 years.

Sorry for the bad translation, but I thought it was interesting.

So basically, Sammy are going to start doing an EA.

Five companies is an interesting prediction. I can't really see EA, Sony, MS or Nintendo going anywhere, which would only leave one more place open for some pretty big companies. Though I doubt he was being specific with the numbr.
