some Kong love

I really liked playing it. I think it might get a hard ride from reviewers missing the point, however.

slapping T-Rexes around with an angry Kong is pretty cool :)

the trowing of spears gets boring pretty fast :/

but the T-Rex parts are awesome :D

I had the chance to play the first 4 'chapters' today. A friend is reviewing it and let me loose on the game.
as amazing as the notion is to me, i absolutely loved it.
Its extremely basic, brainless to an extent, but its so charming and fun packed. it seemed it was impossible to die, but you find you dont care due the pacing.

wonderful stuff, but i know that once i get my hands on the finished product, i shall play it once and never again.

Which version? I think this will be the surprise hit at launch.

the format was the xbox format.
it ran at a lovely 60fps for most of the time i played it, and it looked quite nice. i would like to see the pc and 360 higher res versions.
I think you could be right, it very well could be a sleeper hit... but if the movie is huge, the game will be huge.

Had the chance to see the xbox version yesterday, first 4, 5 chapters.
Very impressive stuff indeed.
i wouldn't say it ran at 60fps most of the time, rather it tried to with several drops and skips. I think i would rather have the game locked at 30 with no hiccups.
Apart from that it's simply gorgeous at times, quite fun too. Great atmosphere.
Very linear and the handles searching can get a bit tiring (the only 'puzzle' element in the game so far, reiterated in every chapter) but everything else is quality stuff.
Curious to see how the X360 version compares.

no hiccups? there are Kong parts of the game that run at about 10 to 15 fps MAX, it's like playing N64 4-player perfect dark WITH bots.

But it's for a relatively short period of time so It's nothing to be worried about.

I don't think it would be possible to even try to lock the game at a "solid" 30fps.

I don't know, most of the time (so far at least) it looks chuggy because it does 60/30/60/30 all the time, and it gives the impression of running at a much lower frame rate than it really does. It happens when a game constantly switches from 60 to 30 within split seconds; think Sega Rally 2 on DC...everyone thought it was going from 60 down to 10, but it actually never dropped below 30; there was a secret option to lock it to 30 and it completely removed slowdowns.
But i haven't seen the sections you're talking about so i wouldn't know.
Maybe they should have disabled V-Sync with this one. It would have introduced some tearing but the frame rate wouldn't have been so bad

I played the 360 demo and found the controls horrible. I only played as the guy who was supposed to distract the T-Rex, though.

That is the main character in the game.

I think i'm pretty far trough the game... i'll try to finish it this afternoon :)

I also played the demo on the 360 and felt the exact opposite. The game controlled perfectly imo. I've played the demo many times on the pc and controlling the game with a 360 controller was a welcome change.
