Somehow OT escaped and made it to the gaming side

The only reason 3 worked is because these guys had gained F-list celebrity status by covering E-list entertainment media with an oddly tribal audience.

I'm not presuming to tell people how to spend their money, but the fact that people have given a bunch of total strangers who don't really need it $12,000 is puzzling and amusing to say the least.

I enjoyed the 1up stuff, but I find the idolization that goes on in the gaming side really fucking creepy.
 
Yeah, it switches off from "Gaming Media is ASS" to "OMG I AM SO SORRY FOR YOU GUYS JOBS"

I don't elevate anyone above Mr. Chi-City.

As someone who splits his time between both, they're really more similar than the OT would like to believe.
 
OT is just as stupid.

A bunch of fat nerds having orgasms over chocolate, woman who would never look at them twice, fast food, fashion they can't fit in, and arguing over politics they really don't know much about.

I estimate that there is a huge overlap. There are a ton of people who post on both sides. Maybe they have split personalities, who knows.

I wasn't following the 1up thread on the gaming side close enough but it sounds self righteous and internet-angry enough to be OT.

I post on both sides. I haven't been over here in a while. I have been stuck in the arcade stick and the street fighter 4 threads.

Disclaimer: I do a lot of volunteer work. Their is a lot to be done here in Baltimore maryland and I think I do my part. Also I have donated to other causes and donated clothes to homeless shelters. Not all of us suck.

They would still end up spending the same amount of money they donated on going to the movies, or another form of entertainment they like to spend cash on.

and did you just recommend joining a religion like it's some type of faction in an MMORPG? :lol

i can't do any of these things from the comfort of my home in front of my computer with headphones on while i watch porn in another tab.
 
This is why the moment Gaf donates money for any cause = all hell break loose. First is the DS money for younger sister fiasco,now this.
 
I would donate money to gaf if we could get a new forum layout and the frontpage updated every now and then :lol

If there's one complaint I have to make about gaf over all the others, it's that some mods fail to realize that they are now authority figures and thus have to lead by example.

Once the mod makes a comment on a thread with a given opinion the flood gates open. People know that they will not get banned because the mod is in agreeement with them and they are not going to ban themselves.
 
People who post in OT need to stop with the OT elitism, seriously.:lol

I remember when someone told Amirox to 'go back to the gaming side" and he got banned like the little snob he was.

There's way more hostility in parts of OT than exist in the gaming section and it's the same site. You're not some special and unique snowflake for not going to the gaming side.

No the main post that started this fiasco would have pretty much warranted a ban if not made by a mod. I guarantee that.
 
I don't keep up with the gaming side much anymore, but posted in that thread just to point out how EGM represented a golden era of gaming, back in the 16 bit era pre internet days. Lots of nostalgia over that.

It seems more are more concerned about the website an podcasts and whatever else. I'm guessing people were donating money to keep them going making podcasts and stuff I guess? I think thats lame, but hey, its their money, they can do what they want with it.

usually those threads have big clear makers like "RELIGION" or "POLITICS" so you know what to expect. It's not every single thread like on the gaming side.

Anyways, 12k? Crazy. I didn't even know there was that particular thread...just goes to show how I hardly post there. There's just some days where I completely forget there's a gaming side of this forum because there's just some crazy/hilarious/good threads on OT sometimes.
