My options are limited without Photoshop! (PC is packed with my crap, I'm moving!) Is there a free paint program for Mac OSX?

Shawnwhann, your language use seems educated, try looking up "binary oppositions" in regards to social and cultural aspects.

Looks like a sound theory, but it does not apply in this case because I have explicitly acknowledged the fact that good people can come from all types of backgrounds. Several people simply choose to ignore that part of my discourse.

look, I don't understand why it's so hard to realize that saying you're a "moral person" carries a whole different meaning, both explicitly and implicitly, than saying you're a "Christian" and assuming that makes you a moral person.

Frankly, I think the coincidence of people who wear their Christianity on their sleeve and condescending assholes is higher than the coincidence of the former and moral people, so that should give you some clue as to why you're getting the response you are.

I understand your point. I want you to understand that I do not believe those two things should be mutually exclusive or have different meanings. If someone says they are moral it is usually because there is some belief system behind that (Religious or not). In my case, my morals are derived from the teachings of my faith.

In regards to your second point, I cosign. That does not make the response justified in this case.

I was waiting for you to come in this thread. :lol

:lol I only clicked it to see why it was so long, only to see the triumphant emergence of Jesus.

This one really fits with the original topic, though:

It is a very sound theory, and it does apply in this case as it is theory ground in linguistics (ie. Text, speach, language). Sure you've acknowledged that good people come from all backgrounds, however that doesnt change the fact that you have set yourself up a binary opposition by positioning yourself as a 'god fearing christian'. This is fair enough, thats your faith, and im not going to argue that. It could be right, it could be wrong. The IMPORTANT fact that i am stating is, by claiming this christian position, you have created an opposing postion "non-christian". By claiming the virtues of 'good' as christian, you instantly impose the negative thoughts of 'bad' to those that are "non-christian".

As Nerevar states, saying you're a "moral person" carries a whole different meaning, both explicitly and implicitly, than saying you're a "Christian" and assuming that makes you a moral person.

I didn't ignore it.

Your posts on page 3 were well-done. Some people just like to cast people with different worldviews in a bad light. For some reason they think it's only okay to make sweeping generalizations and condemnations of the Christian lifestyle.

Ironic.

No, we make finely crafted (and hilarious) analysis of a man who pumps his Jesus love through the air and claims Christianity makes him an infallible person.

Nice try though.

I am a God fearing Christian man that tries to live by ethical and honest standards, and I do not have any enemies I can think of. I try to stay away from the drama, but apparently it has found me. This sucks.

Like Job, maybe God is showing you off to the devil?

Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

So, some of your responses should be Job-esque:

Job 1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

Sorry about the car, man. That truly sucks. I have yet to fix my driver side keyhole mechanism that was plucked out by a failed-attempt car burglary.

Except he didn't do that. he said he lived by ethical and honest standards when people asked hm if he'd mistreated anyone.

And posting pictures that were hilarious a year and a half ago doesn't count as a finely crafted analysis.

I'd have liked to talk about my car's paint in this topic, but I'll take it to PM.

"Sarcasm has no affect on me! March, my brothers! March for Jesus!"

If you are feeling sinister go off and see a minister,
he'll try in vain to take away the pain of being a hopeless unbeliever,
lalalalalala
but if you are feeling sinister go off and see a minister,
the chances are you'll probably feel better if you stay and played with yourself.

I'm not religious.
Good for you! So, then, you might be able to see why wearing your religion like a badge is a little odd, yes? And then going so far as to claim, "I'm a God fearing Christian man. Why would somebody want to key my car?"

Lance: Still got your Malibu?
Vincent: Aw, man. You know what some ****er did the other day?
Lance: What?
Vincent: ****ing keyed it.
Lance: Oh, man, that's ****ed up.
Vincent: Tell me about it. I had it in storage for three years, it was out for five days and some dickless piece of shit ****ed with it.
Lance: They should be ****ing killed. No trial, no jury, straight to execution.
Vincent: Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that asshole doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it.
Lance: What a ****er!
Vincent: What's more chickenshit than ****ing with a man's automobile? I mean, don't **** with another man's vehicle.
Lance: You don't do it.
Vincent: It's just against the rules.

He didn't wear it like a badge, and he didn't say that. When asked if he'd done something to piss someone off, he said that he "lived by ethical and honest standards," which happened to include an adherence to the parts of the Bible that stress good treatment of your peers.
