That whole article is full of LOLs, definitely worth a read, especially with what's going on today.

I like reading old magazine... not ancient ones, but "recent-past" ones, the ones that predict how the PS2/etc will turn out. Always good for a laugh.

Dreamcast: Can it survive past 2001?
Barely.

Playstation 2: Has it won already?
Damn Right.

Nintendo 64: Can it hold on until Dolphin arrives?
:lol

X-box: Do they have the guts to try?
Not guts; BALLS.

.... uh that IS a Sidewinder pad...
Right. That's why I brought it up. By original Xbox controller, I mean not the Controller S.

Edit: Also, I recall this issue having an artist's representation of the Dolphin inside, and it kind of looked like a toilet seat.

Someone remind me to preorder a PS3 in the runup to its european launch. Hehe...that actually reminds me of the scenes in Paris with people almost wrestling each other for PS2s.

Also, NGO's math was all wrong. 1000x PS2 poly performance wouldn't be 66 trillion polys/sec but 66 billion polys/sec (or 70..whatever the peak rate was). See? The media really is half of the hype problem :P

Let me see if I can scan the whole article.

I think that was the whole article.

BTW, I'm very dissapointed by none of you picking up on some of the LOLs in the article!

my fav: million x 1000 = a trillion! :lol

edit: Damn, gofreak beat me to it.

I remember reading in some really old 1994 game magazine that PSX would have a blue laser that would enable it to have much faster CD reading or much more data on a disc, or something like that. Sounds an awful lot like Blu-Ray to me... how long has it been known?
Or was someone just speculating? It IS fairly easy to assume that a blue laser would allow more data because of simple physics.
