Rumors buzzing around 4chan from alleged Sega employees that new level DLC is on its way! They both gave vague descriptions that matched up well enough, but one actually spilled the beans. Looks like it'll be
Icecap
Hidden Palace
Dragon Road
Starlight Carnival
If it's true, it's not a bad selection. Though I guess the modern level choices are a bit disappointing - those levels were already done in this gameplay style in their respective games, I'd rather have seen some Adventure stuff.
Icecap would be amazing however, as well as Hidden palace - especially if it were based on the Sonic 2 version.
You read my mind. That'd be awesome.I'm just saying, if they pull off a S3 Icecap for Classic and SA1 Icecap for Modern it will be hella sweet
Hidden palace - sonic 2 beta, or Hidden palace - sonic & knuckles? This is key. As much as I'd love to see a contemporary lava-reefish hidden palace take, them bringing in a well known beta level, but actually complete this time, would be pretty fucking cool.
Either way, it's no hydrocity.
Also, the whole pack sounds a bit too big to be real.
The first 4chan guy kept dropping hints before eventually just posting the full list of levels, and when he dropped the hint about Hidden Palace, it was him posting a screenshot of the Sonic 2 Beta version.
Also, according to the rumor, the "pack" will come in three purchase tiers:
Classic Only (HPZ/ICZ?)
Modern Only (DR/SLC?)
Complete (all four stages)
As for Starlight Carnival? I would've preferred Aquarium Park, just because Drill is so fun to use. Act 1 of Starlight Carnival is generally the eyecandy that sorta feels on rails. Then the rest of the 2D-esque acts aren't that great (I mostly remember the ones that use the moving yellow spring things). But I guess since Casino Night is a pinball machine, Starlight Carnival would've diversified the whole thing.
I'm calling fake. If Sonic Generations was getting DLC we would have had official word on it by now, it isn't happening.
It could be possible that they've spent time up until now just figuring out how to put DLC into the game. No sense in announcing something that you don't even know is possible.
I'm not saying the news is legit, just that it MIGHT be true.
Why waste all that time and money on DLC nobody is going to buy? The game did pretty bad at retail and most of those will be gathering dust on used shelves.
Eh, this'll sell if released. Generations didn't do that bad at retail, iirc. Almost 2 mil worldwide, or somethin' like it?

all of those are great choices but im a bit sadden at the lack of a proper stardust speedway level
but still i hope this is trueeee yessss
So apparently Kakipi put something up, Sonic Generations-related. This time using the Windmill Isle PC mod:
Sonic Generations - Windmill Isle Act 1 Speed Run (w/skills) - 00:26:34
I'll never get tired of watching Sonic's animations from generations.
Also Unleashed mod has been released?
EDIT: Also have they attempted Cool Edge?
Yeah. The consensus was that while it's okay (but the Dreamcast-era stuff isn't very good in comparison to the other stuff), the best bits of the game lay in the multiplayer and the missions (which you can unlock with Play Coins or MP).Anybody played the 3DS game?
Anybody played the 3DS game?
Well, considering they had to struggle to put together a playable demo for E3 and only had their version of Green Hill ready, it isn't surprising. It likely took 6 months to develop. It's a bad Sonic game in my opinion. Definitely feels rushed, and the level design has a lot of spike pits and random death traps.
I think Colours is more cohesive than Generations and thus I prefer it more. But with that said, I love Generations too.

I believe there was some kind of medal collecting thing that halted you from going to the next level, I didn't like that either.
Are you talking about the 3DS version? Because yeah I'd recommend that to you if you really liked Rush since that's essentially what Modern Sonic plays like in that version. And Classic Sonic is good as always. So, would you recommend it to me if I said that:
I like what I played of Generations on PC, quite a lot, and think it looks gorgeous
I hate modern Sonic, and absolutely adore Classic Sonic.
I despise every 3D Sonic game ever made (including Adventure 1/2) bar Sonic Colors on Wii and part of Rings.
I fucking LOVED Sonic Rush and feel meh towards its sequel
I think Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 (not 3) are the best Sonic games ever but never really played a lot of S+K.
I think the GBA games are mediocre and hate their physics and how Sonic runs/stop/behaves in jumps.
I hated Sonic 4 ep1.
Couldn't get into Unleashed.
Prefer short but punchy games (Rush) instead of packed with filler games (Rush 2).
Did I already say that I LOVE Dimps' Sonic Rush? Rush Adventure or whatever was a letdown.
How are the gfx and framerate?
For $7.50 (Amazon DD in a few days) it's an easy game to recommend. If you enjoyed the demo you'll probably like the full game. The framerate is solid (60) except for a few moments in Chemical Plant, but those aren't close to how bad it was at launch.
The filler is limited to the stuff above the main levels. You can avoid most of it, but they are actually pretty cool most of the time.
Classic Sonic is great and Modern Sonic is actually pretty fun.

I'll be honest with you, I don't have a good eye for frame rate so I'm going to say that it's probably 30fps. The game doesn't suffer for it though and I remember it being steady throughout the whole main game. It's worth me mentioning that the frame rate does go to shit when play online multiplayer, it's still playable but it's a very noticeable hit.Oh wow. Hype! What's the word on the gfx, 3D effect/performance and framerate? I imagine it got cut down to 30fps, does the game controls wierd 'cause of that?

As for the graphics, they aren't mind-blowingly good but they aren't bad either and the 3D effect adds a little depth to the levels but you could play the whole game without it on and you would pretty much the same experience.
Huh? There was nothing like that in the 3DS game. Maybe the Chaos Emerald stages, but those are easy.
I like the 3DS game. Not nearly as good as the console version, but it kept me occupied for a while with the missions. Some nice concept art unlocks too.
Anyone know how/when you unlock Open Your Heart? I don't have it for some reason, kind of figured I would.

Turned on Generations for the first time in months only to find that I literally couldn't figure out how to proceed, or how to play previous levels! D: I have no idea how to navigate this horrible hub world!
It keeps telling me to go right, but there is nothing but purple gas.[/QUOTE]
You must do one little challenge mode mission from each level area and obtain the key.
When you beat one mission in the level area you can obtain the key in that area.
Three keys unlock the boss door, and when you defeat the boss, you can move forward.
