There was only a soft reboot between seasons 3 and 4 due to the time jump. If you think seasons 2, 3, and 5 were "resets" you haven't been paying nearly enough attention.

Buddy, I like the show. But let's not kid ourselves. This show is shallow, and doesn't require brain power to pay attention. A goldfish could enjoy this show without having problems "paying attention".

I'm betting he dies in the season opener.

They don't really have anything to do for him anymore. He served his purpose in S3 and he's just been sticking around doing nothing

No need to watch it. The fact that you don't even remember where it left off should let you know it was a waste of a season.

Had to be one of the worsts seasons in television history.

lol wtf

One of tose shows I would probably have been happier with if they wrapped it up 2 or 3 seasons ago.

dave is ok

aztek is ok
Yea...no.

SoA is as good as ever. This show has perhaps the best continuity among scripted shows. Things resonate from one season to the next. Characters don't get amnesia every 13 episodes.
Yeah, no.

First of all, Clay still being trusted by anyone on this show is ridiculous. Not killing him ruins suspension of disbelief. He's clearly untouchable. The show had a season in Ireland that didn't mean anything, Jax plotting with Stahl for an entire season was erased by a "It was a double cross all long!" twist and another seasons big plotline was erased by a last minute "Hey, we're with the Feds!" twist. That is not good writing.

They actually did the Fed thing twice. The head racist guy from season two was a Fed snoop if I remember correctly. Which was totally lame and kind of came out-of-nowhere.

I don't care if you like the show or not. I'm quite secure in my enjoyment of it. :)

Talking about how much brain power the show requires is irrelevant (nobody claims it's Rubicon). I responded to your false claim that the show resets every season. Love it or hate it, that just isn't true.

Most big events have zero consequences. Or when you think that something huge is finally going to happen, something ridiculousness out of left field happens instead. All season finales have suffered for this reason. I like the show, but its writing is the last thing I'd ever pay a compliment to.

I whole heartedly agree with you, but I would still never call this being down on Dexter level lows. Even taking out the current final season and it's horribleness it's still had some of the dumbest writing on a show I've ever seen.

I'm pretty excited for this to come back.

I haven't had a weekly show to watch for a while. Ink Master/Tattoo Nightmares is fun but it's not the same.

Yay fall season

I think he has a nice arc to him.

He murdered Donna and is responsible for
Opie's
death and was Clay's right hand man. IIRC he also wasn't too fond of Jax in the early seasons.

The fact that Jax WANTS to keep him around is so unbelievable. He's just as bad as Clay in the "ruins suspension of disbelief" category.

also, are spoilers allowed? I feel like it should be obvious to not visit the S6 thread if you're not all caught up but I want to make sure.

Anything that has aired (e.g. all of S5) is fair game. Just please remember to spoiler tag preview/promo discussion as well as any material that hasn't aired yet including information from interviews and the like.

I agree, he was a real asshole.

I hated him up until S3-ish. Whenever he turned down Gemma in-heat. His bit was the daughters was crazy. I'm not sure if it's the way he's written or the way the actor is portraying him but you get a real sense that he's this wounded dude who despite it all is trying to be noble underneath his sordid past and veil of perversion. I hope that's how they play it, that he has a shot at redemption.

Not sure I follow you on Opes death though.

Tig killed Pope's daughter which ultimately led to Pope killing his daughter and having a few Sons sent to county lockup for Tig killing the cop on Pope's payroll and one of his soldiers. Pope demanded a dead Son for the two deaths, and it was Opie that sacrificed himself.

I don't mind too much because he was more like Mopie amirite?

But yeah you're right.

I like that Tara is in jail, hope that means little to no screen time. can't stand that character.

Yeah but Kim Dickens and CCH Pounder will probably will related to her storyline: that means HYPE. I don't think Tara will come out of jail so soon, maybe Clay, but not Tara.

Anyway I don't hear much hype for this season. With Boardwalk Empire, is my most anticipated show this year (yes, even more than Breaking Bad).

If I had to put my money down on another major character biting it this season, I'd say Bobby. Just a random guess.

LOL it will suck so bad...

If they want to make an expanded universe, make a movie prequel with the First 9 or something like that.

Am I reading this right? Tig has the biggest heart in the club and seems to be the only one ever bothered by the brutal shit they have to do, whether he shows it or not. His whole character arc is that of the loyal hardass who's slowly being broken down by a life of violence. He's losing his nerve, and keeps trying to save face in front of his brothers by random acts of violence (killing the guard's wife, attempting to kill Laroy).

And you question why Jax keeps him around? He's loyal to a fault and Jax basically owns his soul at this point. What disbelief needs suspending?

FUNK-Y-PPA-4
Deified gets it.

Tig is first and foremost a loyal soldier who'll do anything for the club he loves, but unfortunately for him, all the bad shit he's been doing for years is finally coming back at him.

He's basically a human ruin that more or less sees his current situation as penance for his sins.

Why is everything getting an after show? Ever since the Walking Dead one became really popular it's like every show is doing it now.

I'm pretty exited!

One thing that always bothers me is that they pretend that Tommy Flanagen is Irish while he speaks with a scottish accent. Other than that: pretty hyped

I totally forgot about this... I switched providers recently (when I had moved), and I now do not get FX. I think it's showing on the Wuper Channels so I believe I'll be good to go.

He's generally referred to as Scottish in the show, even if he has IRA connections.

- Newsday Review:
How to gauge "SOA" this or any season is tough. The acting is first-rate, and so is the writing, but the violence is appalling, and not just appalling, but creatively appalling. Tuesday night's hour is pretty much what you'd expect, but I'd also like to think that this genuinely smart show, which wraps next season, is offering a larger moral: That no one and nothing exist in a vacuum. Not even TV shows.

GRADE (for fans only) B+. Everyone else, proceed with caution, or avoid.
