That review has me thinking that a lot of people might be turned off from what we see this season or especially in the premiere.
I love this show as much as anyone. I recognize its flaws but for me personally SoA is my favorite show to watch. Pure entertainment, and it has some great characters and interesting storytelling.
That said, I worry about Sutter not being able to "raise the stakes" in a way other than amplifying violence. However, in context the violence that will take place in season 6 will be a huge, huge part of Jax realizing a few things and making some big decisions.
I hope they pull it off. I just have a feeling some critics are going to thrash the premiere, and they might feel that goes too far (as some hinted from the TCA screening weeks ago).

I wish they had kept "WAALLLLTTTTT!" around, whatever his name was.
He was an interesting character for an antagonist and it seemed like the relationship between him and Jax was going to intriguing places. Not to mention how radically it would have altered the plot (for the better, in my opinion).

The whole episode before you can see them wrapping up most of Opies storylines. I knew he was fucked when he gave her the money to take care of his kids.
Opie has to be one of the more tragic tv characters in recent memory.

When you watch season 1 and see Donna arguing with Opie, even hitting him while she yells at him for hanging out with the club, it's just so damn sad.

It was because there was just so much build up to his fall. The man gave his life to the club and for years he was losing everything little by little. His status as the protagonist's "best friend character" means he instantly gets the love from the fans, but Sutter broke him down piece by piece until it just hurt so much to see him go. Normally I'm pissed to lose a favourite character like that but because it was done so well it just adds to the impact, and it's not something that will go away for the rest of the series. There will always be that void in the club and Jax left by Opie's death.
edit - yea, just as I suspected they're not fans.
They're perfectly entitled to not enjoy the show, but these guys seem to have an axe to grind against Sutter that takes me out of any valid criticisms they present. They even complain at around the 2:15 mark about Sutter name-calling on Twitter.
SoA is by no means perfect but HF has been too biased since Sepinwall and Sutter started beefing a couple years ago.
