Sony announces $299 PS4 + Uncharted Collection Black Friday bundle

That may be true, but would you agree that compared to last year's "Value bundle" which was the same $50 price drop w/GTA V packed in, this one is pretty weak.

Dude, no one remembers sales / deals last year when they are shopping. They are not going to see it's $299 and immedietly think "oh yeah....last year the price was $100 more and it had better games bundled".

Good deal for those that are trying to jump into the PS4 camp. New users will get to play the game for free and see what is awesome about it and as a result it gets Uncharted's name into more households for Uncharted 4. Pretty sweet trade-off for Sony.

Nope, it didn't do that well in October and you want a game that has multiplayer and will get people to join up on your service as well.

Unless they know something we don't know, like Tomb Raider is debuting at #1 in NA

I also think it's kind of a weak bundle.

I mean i'd love to play Uncharted Collection but let's face it, it's still a trilogy of last-gen remasters.
That's not a very delicious looking carrot to wave in front of people who want to jump in. It doesn't really matter wether the games are critically acclaimed or not, but they are 'old hat' at this point and people are itching to get in on the new stuff.
A FIFA, Blops 3, Fallout 4 or Battlefront pack-in at this price would shift a LOT more units.

Like Pachter said bundling a first party game digitally costs Sony 1 dollar, while bundling a 3 party AAA game cost alot more. Its a no-brainer for Sony....

When it comes to Black Friday (and the ensuing weekend), all people look at is the price tag. Should do well. Still think Bloodborne/The Old Hunters and Until Dawn should be getting some holiday love.

Anyone saying that this is a weak bundle is missing the point. What Sony is trying to do is to sell the PS4 to the mass audience, and the key way to do that is with the price point, not what the pack-ins are. They could make the bundle that Snoopy game, and it'd still meet their purposes.

Sony setting those Uncharted currents in motion for March.
Pretty much. They are trying to introduce as many people as possible to add on the existing base interested in Uncharted. I think MS is trying to do the same with Gears.

Either way, the price point is the draw here.

I'll probably be getting this. Don't really care for Uncharted much though, honestly wishing for a COD bundle or even Battlefront for $299.

Watch as MS matches the price and bundles in a new game. First party pack ins are a waste of time if the game isn't new.

You're right, it is a sweet trade off for SONY, but I'm a consumer and I'm in it for ME, so the deal is a little weak. There have been better deals the last couple weeks even.

Is that disc or digital code?

Hopefully it drops the price more for the digital code, id buy it for 15-20

This Gaffer knows whats up.

How about a Vita sale

I've wanted to pick one up for remote play forever

Yesterday you could have picked up one for $150 at Target. (10% one day sale and 15% Cartwheel app coupon). I had a 10% off movers coupon and 5% red card discount as well.

It was a nice discount.

(I know that doesn't help you now, but keep on eye on cheapassgamer for sales this week)

Yeah, I'm surprised Sony didn't give Until Dawn much of a holiday push. Seemed to outperform expectations, and there's word of mouth they could capitalize upon by packing it in.

I don't get how people say this is weak.

Just over a month ago the PS4 was $399. It's now $299 with a collection (which you could probably sell for even more savings).

Sony just shot themselves in the foot. I don't know how much you know about bundles (I'm an expert), but that one doesn't move the needle.

You are an expert just like everyone is a GM when commenting on NFL.com's stories.

This bundle might not seem flashy, but it gets the point across that the system is bellow 300 dollars. If parents were on the fence about getting their kids a ps4 before, not it's a no brainer at 299.99.

Sony going hard after the Xbox 360 gamers. $299 with an amazing PS3 era trilogy remastered (excellently) should entice those gamers. In fact - it seems to me that Sony is doing this alot when remastering all their top tier ps3 games lineup. Beyond 2 Souls is next.

They should've threw in TLoU and GOW3 in there as well. "$299 Nostalgia Bundle".

Thanks for the heads up dude, rakuten has had them for $150 for a while too. I was hoping they'd go even lower, but I guess that's not likely...

We are two year into the cycle and you can get both consoles for 299.99 how is this a bad thing. The bundle isn't flashy but its for the average consumers, when mom walks into bestbuy looking to buy that new ps4 for tommy. She buy this one.

We already know its the Gears bundle.

I'll probably be getting this. Don't really care for Uncharted much though, honestly wishing for a COD bundle or even Battlefront for $299.

A lot of people will be in the same boat as you but these games cost sony less to pack in. It's 299 and some games. Tons of kids will open these on xmas and never play Uncharted or try it for an hour and go back to cod. It's always that way with bundles like this but it's just an added bonus. The price point is the kicker.

Yeah, but you're 1/1000000+. If you were a real "saver" then you would know that BF deals suck and that you can get better deals throughout the year. This is for those that don't get those better deals during the year and want to "know" that they are getting a deal. This isn't for you. Stop thinking about it being about "me" with this deal and think "everyone else".

I'm just speaking for my own preferences. I think this bundle will do very well for Sony based on the price alone. for me, however, a $300 PS4 on its own isn't enticing enough to jump in. I don't have any interest in Uncharted nor do I have any interest in trying to sell it. so that's where I'm coming from.

Tempting but the only reason I'm still hesitant is because there's nothing on the system that I have a frothing need to play until Persona 5 is out this upcoming summer. I want one but do I really need one right now? Does anyone know what past trends are for interesting sales/bundles in the first half of the year? I'm guessing it's not common. I should just jump on the $50 in savings now.

This.
Mom goes to Big Box store to buy gift.

She figures it out or employee guides her that she can buy the CoD or Battlefront bundle for $350 or this plus the Battlefront/CoD game for $360 for a total of 4 games.

What do you think she will choose?

Price/perceived value trumps all during the Holidays.

I have a launch PS4 that I've been thinking about trading in somewhere and picking this bundle up (I'm assuming the Nathan Drake Collection is the newer PS4 model that runs cooler/quieter).

I know I missed a Gamestop trade-in deal that expired last week, but does anyone know what's currently the best trade-in value or deal around? I know Best Buy will give me $180 for my current console. Just not sure it's worth the trade at this point, or if I should wait for an inevitable slim model

Well, for those who didn't get the better deals last week, or the week before, on better better Sony bundles, I'm confident that they'll get even better deals close to Christmas.

But Alas, lets not spiral. There are many who think this is a great deal for them, and many who don't. C'est la vie.

MS has tons of bundles and they already announced that they're dropping 50 dollars off every one of them this coming holiday weekend at all major retailers.
