Sony announces $299 PS4 + Uncharted Collection Black Friday bundle

This bundle is terrible for Black Friday. A couple people have said that there's gift cards with this but there isn't so far. I mean Kohls has $90 in Kohls Cash with it so that's pretty great if you shop there. The Xbox deals have gift cards though while the PS4 deals do not.

They should have dropped all consoles by $50 (So Star Wars was also $300 and Black Ops 1TB was $380) and the stores should have thrown in something like a $50 gift card or a choice of games like Bloodborne/Until Dawn.

I mean you could randomly get a $50 off deal at any point next year. It may be a decent deal, but it's terrible as a Black Friday deal imo.

This game bundle isn't enough for me to bite on the ps4. Looks like I'll have to wait till 2016 holiday bundle. I've noticed all the sales this year are pretty weak across everything.

Watch as MS matches the price and bundles in a new game. First party pack ins are a waste of time if the game isn't new.
For the purposes of this promotion, Sony isn't concerned with Microsoft at all. They're trying to reach all of those consumers who are already primed towards buying a PS4, but have held off a purchase because of the price point.

Never change GAF, lol.

For a gaming enthusiast forum such as this. The bundle isn't ideal. There have been better bundles this month.

But for the mainstream consumer? This is perfect. All they see is price and they'll see it comes with a game. (3 to be exact). It'll sell and it'll sell well.

Compared to a $299 bundle? Sure. But again. Disney is about to ramp up the marketing for Star Wars. I think the $350 bundle will do very very well. I'm sure they bundles have been selling great this month regardless and it'll see increased sales on Black Friday just because.

I agree it'll do very well, it's just that at 299.99 you can effectively get UCC free for the same price as that bundle. Just buy the game separately and keep/sell UCC, etc.

I wish they would have just made it a Naughty Dog bundle and packaged it with TLOU Remastered as well. I can't imagine TLOU Remastered is selling well now, it's routinely 10 bucks online for a code these days and UCC will get to that point as well.

Picked up the Uncharted collection last week. It's the best remaster I've played yet, even Uncharted DF looks phenomenal. I thought I had little interest in playing through them again but at a silky smooth 60fps and skippable cut scenes I got quickly hooked.

As a bundle and at $299 this is great value.

Good news being that it means that online sellers will also have it at that price, and that they must have shipped HUGE quantities to certify the price for 4-5 days (I imagine it includes Cyber Monday as well).

Now to decide if I want to face Kohl Black Friday shoppers ($75 gift card on top), or just look for the best deal online...

Fake edit: Obliterator, you okay? I think you were the one who said MS could still easily November because -their- $299 bundles (mostly GeoW) was for 4 days vs only 2 assumed days for Sony?

Second year in a row Sony is using a remastered game as their main BF bundle. Bloodborne? Until Dawn? Second Son? What's that? Here's some PS3 games you already played 5 years ago. Snore.

Sadly I can't bring myself to justify buying this this year. Was hoping for a different combination bundle from sony or at least some store specific ones. But nothing so far :(

Never change GAF, lol.

No kidding, all the xbox fans think a $100 drop since Sept with three games that have a metacritic in the 90s is not a good deal. I'm sure they were on the fence too.

People buy on price for the holidays. Does anyone think Unity was the draw last holiday? No, it was the new $349 price.

[Naughty Dog’s community strategist Eric] Monacelli added that the very same untouched audience on PS4 could drive the Uncharted Collection’s sales.

“It's pretty massive,” he admits. “We did a lot of research and discovered that about 80 per cent of the people that own a PS4 have never played Uncharted, period. That was one of the reasons why we thought remastering it would be a good idea.

Your experiences are not necessarily reflective of the wider PS4 target audience.

And yet... the game bombed in NPD results.
I heard the UC bundle outsold the Halo bundle (neither of which is tracked for NPDs by the by). I bet it is doing just fine, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

(Personally I am not interested in the game either, but I'm not going to extrapolate my lack of interest to the larger market.)

Still at the heart of it all it's a remastered game. If it adds another 2 million sales by the time this gen is over then it's done its job.

It's a pack in game that doesn't cost Sony anything extra to add. It'll be on sale for $299. Your average consumer isn't going to look at this and be like "I'm going to pass this up because it doesn't come with a game I actually want".

Your average consumer is going to look at that price and jump in. Uncharted is just a bonus at that point.

We've seen better bundles for both systems but for $299 most people see that price as the best way to jump into the current gen.

I've never played Uncharted so this is an appealing bundle to me.

saying it bombed seems a bit over the top. it probably sold below expectations. the game did not have any mp and they aren't too old for people to have nostalgia but old enough that people that really wanted to try it would have tried it by this point unlike tlou which was only a year old and ps4 was launching. at this point you are looking at 360/wii converts and hardcore uc fans. i would assume a lot of people want to just pick it up at a later time considering the amount of new games that came out/were coming out for the past few months. i am kinda disappointed i got it so early because the digital codes are already going for lower prices lol. oh well i love the games so not a big deal

I know how NPD works buddy. You should look at the software sales. It opened under Yoshi (which wasn't exactly a big seller), sold less than Gears of War Ultimate Edition, and it sold way less than the MCC. This isn't a good result. Especially considering the big marketing campaign it got. Just makes me think that Sony should focus less on pushing old PS3 games and more on pushing their new games which they keep sending out to die.

Who said I'm not interested in the game? Now you're just projecting your own thoughts onto me.

Halo MCC debuted even lower than Uncharted Collection on NPD's monthly ranking (while I'm sure it sold better due to how much more competitive that month was, all this is to say that NPD doesn't tell us much about nominal sales), and IIRC it didn't have the benefit of being the standard hardware SKU for Xbox One when it came out to make up for its relatively low standalone boxed software sales. Not that that matters, since Uncharted was never as big a franchise as Gears or Halo.

mp plays a part if people want to pick up a remaster early. gears and mcc had it. uncharted is story and spectacle and not a lot of people are going to rush out to buy them if they already experienced it. if the uc4 mp beta is exclusive to nd collection buyers then i can see it picking up sales in december as well.

Wait seriously? Uncharted sold more than mcc opening? That's pretty impressive

It's a hell of a lot easier to chart in October than November. We know Yoshi sold 165k, so Uncharted must have done less than that. I don't remember exactly what MCC debuted at, I'm pretty sure it was over 500k though.

EDIT: MCC debuted over 660k.

Well, okay. I still think this is kind of a weak bundle.

$350 for Fallout and Tomb Raider seems like a good value.

Nice one ...but it really exist

Found this , also nice :

Nice one ...

What? Why and? Do you mean or?

Because it seems like a good value to me? 1TB+$60 game game? for 350$

what's up with these defensive posts on Gaf lately. Few days ago made a comment about Xbox have a great line up this holiday, and it might not be down YOY and everyone started losing their shit. I mean okay, I am may be wrong. and is wrong. But I just said $350 bundle is also a good value for Xbox, and Xbox might not be down YOY. Just relax. Not the end of the world if I am wrong.

I don't think UC Collection did particularly bad in the NPD. It was probably around > 300k with bundles.

Not impressive mind you, but not exactly a bomb.
