Sony E3 2016 Press Conference: June 13 at 6 PM PT/ 9PM ET

PS4 Neo launches the same day as PSVR and isn't announced until two weeks beforehand via a small press release. If Sony was really smart, they wouldn't do this at all but since I believe that it's 100% going to happen, they should just eliminate the current PS4 and release the Neo at $350 to replace the current PS4. Kind of like a stealth launch/replacement.

I definitely don't see them talking about Neo at E3 unless they want to decrease their console sales for the next four months which would be beyond stupid. And I definitely see Neo releasing in October because there would be no point in having a standard mode and a neo mode requirement starting October 1st.

The point in enforcing standard and neo modes starting October could be simply to have a healthy library of enhanced games available for Neo's launch, which could be this year or next. If the Neo launches within a month of this enforcement, as you state, it would have a paltry selection of enhanced games available for it on day 1.

Requiring Neo mode before console launch is a good way to "force" developers to make big holiday titles Neo compatible.
Even if console is released next year Sony needs Battlefield 1, COD etc... With Neo mode

Lookkng at the PS E3 Experience website, I don't know if the conference is actually gonna be 2 hours or it is just counting the exclusive interviews at the end.

Sony won't be announcing Neo at E3. Considering the negativity (by a vocal minority in my opinion - could be wrong though), uncertainty and possible misinterpretation surrounding the platform, Sony need more than the 15-20 minutes they will have available to them to explain and sell the system to us.
A dedicated event where they have the time to get their messaging right and answer all the many questions surrounding the console comprehensively, would be a lot more appropriate.
And why is everyone taking 2016 release as granted? Didn't Osirisblack and that Sony guy (forgot his name) both mention a possible March 2017 launch?

I doubt the the negative opinion is swaying Sony any bit. Sony knows Neo is a good investment for gamers that upgrade from the previous gen during the 3rd and 4th years of the current gen. Why spend $350 on a consoles with tech from 2012 when you can just spend $399 and get a console with tech from 2015 if you are just now entering current gen?
For the people that bought PS4 years 1-3 they can just hold out for the generation leap in 2019-2020, then th folks that bought Neo can upgrade to some PS5 Neo 2022-2023.
Make sense in my opinion.

Nobody dreaming of Syphon Filter?
I've been expecting it every year since PS3 was revealed I will continue to believe every year!
I was going to add it but I don't really see the hype around it. Plus, 1 PS classic revival is good enough for one year XD

If it does, well holy shit year of dreams 2.0 indeed.

E3 of dreams for me:

The Last of Us 2, Rockatar Games announces new PlayStation exclusive IP, Kojima's new IP is teased, a new Twisted Metal as well as a new Syphon Filter is announced, and to end the conference they show gameplay from God of War 4.

Crash
Infamous 3(screw spiderman)
Suikoden 6
Wipeout
Skies of Arcadia 2
God of war 4
The last of us 2

I've sat on it, and here's my current slate of predictions. My aim was for something both realistic yet epic enough to be considered a "Year of Dreams 2.0" conference.

- Classic PlayStation montage showcasing recently released and plenty of upcoming games. Voice-over begins to talk about PlayStation's history and past...
- Crash shows up on screen and says something akin to, "Did you miss me?" And then we see a quick trailer for a new Crash Bandicoot game developed by Mark Cerny's small group at Studio Japan, coming to PS4 in October
- Shawn Layden takes the stage to host the event and says a few sly words about the new Crash game. He's wearing a Sony Santa Monica shirt with Kratos on it (Wore this around the PSX show floor). Let's continue with amazing games coming from Sony Worldwide Studios, starting with a game many of us have been eager to see
- Sony Bend's logo appears on screen and Eric Jensen takes the stage to introduce Dead Don't Ride. They show a trailer followed by gameplay footage much like they did with Horizon last year. Coming to PS4 in 2017
- Fumito Ueda takes the stage with a translator and says he's thrilled that we will finally get to play his emotional new adventure, The Last Guardian. A trailer is shown that includes a release date for September
- A trailer for a new game from PixelOpus (Small Sony studio who did Entwined) called Days Gone is shown. It's another artsy fartsy game that's releasing later in the summer
- Hermen Hulst from Guerrilla takes the stage to present another new, extensive look at Horizon Zero Dawn. We see a gameplay demo that showcases some RPG mechanics from being in a town and gameplay mechanics while battling a new robo-dino. Delayed to early 2017
- Asad Qizilbash takes the stage to lead the PSVR segment. The launch date is confirmed for October and some various games are confirmed for launch including RIGS, PSVR Worlds, Eve Valkyrie, etc.
- Reminds everyone that Gran Turismo Sport and Dreams will both support PSVR when they release. Also announce a beta for Dreams that will begin in August
- A significant new PSVR game is announced with no release date
- Adam Boyes takes the stage to present compelling third party software
- Final Fantasy franchise receives a segment where new trailers/footage of Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy VII Remake and World of Final Fantasy are shown. Final Fantasy XV will be receiving a PS4 bundle which includes a demo for Final Fantasy VII Remake
- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare gameplay footage
- A new character trailer for Street Fighter V is shown along with confirmation that a traditional arcade mode is coming. Speaking of Capcom...
- Devil May Cry 5 is announced with a trailer, coming in 2017
- Persona 5 receives a trailer on stage that shows the North American release date,THIS YEAR!!
- Destiny's fall expansion is announced with a trailer... Destiny 2 also receives a teaser trailer
- Shawn Layden returns to the stage and applauds everything we've seen today. But they have one more thing to show us. It's a new take on a legendary PlayStation franchise...
- God of War 4 announced with a trailer and some gameplay footage. Coming in 2017

Seems about right but no PS4K?

Seems about right but no PS4K?

I feel in my gut that they aren't going to talk about it at E3, that would crater PS4 sales until release. Whenever they talk about, it will be out within a week or so much like the PS3 Slim.

Even if Microsoft talk the Xbox Scorpio (which isn't coming out until fall of 2017 according to rumors), PS4's momentum is insane and tons of great games can more than carry the conference.

I really hope TLG releases in August or at least early September, anything later would just kill the game and I want it to do good in terms of sales.
unless they delay it to 2017 which they shouldn't!

I like your list, but I do think that a PS4 Slim will be announced at the very least. Perfect way to keep momentum up through the summer and into the holiday season.

Honestly, this generation is bizarre enough that I can see it happening but I'm still leaning toward it being a Gamescom announcement.

But... I could easily be wrong. We will see!

Oh, don't get me wrong. Personally, I'm fine with a mid gen refresh / upgrade. It's the people who are not ok with it that Sony need to address. And judging by some of the posts I read in the countless Neo / Scorpio threads, Sony will need a focused and comprehensive unveiling event to sway these folks. That first impression counts for a lot as Microsoft found out this gen. E3 is simply not the right stage for that in my opinion.

Now that From is moving from Dark Souls games is time for Sony to release Demons Souls remaster with new stuff or even Demons Souls 2.

Anyone who has gone to a Sony E3 Experience theater event: what sorts of freebies do they hand out? There's one happening close to me, and I'm curious about going.

Last year it was

$5 PSN credit
Kill Strain Beta
SFV beta
Posters
Stickers
Cool NMS and Battlefront lanyards
7 day rental for Shadow Of the Colossus
7 day PSN passes

oh, i agree, its gonna take more information to deliver that message than just make an announcement at E3, if its a business model they are committed to going forward.
Now that i think about it, we will need some type of mid gen refresh each gen here on out. Having gamers buy the same spec console for 5 years in this day and age when you can upgrade the specs after 3 years and have them pay the same price just make more sense.

Not sure if they have enough time for all these announcements, but this is one of the more possible Year of Dreams 2.0 plan.

It's crazy. By next week we'll be getting hinting and teases. And during the middle of next week we'll be getting pictures of posters and merch being set up. E3 hype is starting to settle in.
