What are you most excited for?

They started off great and the few newly announced games look nice graphically, although Days Gone first trailer did more for me than the gameplay footage. But this felt very different and off for a Sony show. Was shocked when they said they had one more game, show felt much much shorter than usual. It felt like something was missing.

It is quite clear that Sony devs simply have this shit locked down, because as awesome i thought MS was.....we just did not get these graphics, but overall for a Sony show it felt underwhelming. I guess i expected several more new IP probably.

And.....Red Dead 3 a no show. :(

You gotta remember, there is so much that can be done with the X1 hardware compared to the PS4. You are just not going to get those visuals on X1...which is unfortunate.

People saying these games won't come out for a long time... This is E3, it's about show and spectacle, mostly to get people excited about buying into your ecosystem. That's it. It's great if you can play those games in a few months, but here is about selling the idea that you want to play those games eventually... And let's not pretend every single publisher doesn't do this, Recore, Scalebound are in their 2nd in E3 and crackdown is a no show.

Solid show overall, good pacing and good presentation. Pleased with it.

Days Gone looks too samey, was expecting a 12 monkeys plot twist at any moment.

Crash was... well, sad I guess. But I'll take remasters over nothing.
COD dragged a bit and lego didn't need to be there.

Aside from that RE7 showed really well and kudos to Santa Monica for shaking up the GOW formula , angry Kratos was really 2 gens ago.

Excited about Horizon and cautiously optimistic for the rest.

The trailer for Kojima's game is the most interesting thing I've seen in a while as any form of presentation for a game.

No Destiny... THANK YOU! we get it's exclusive content, do us a favor and next time you have to show it, do it under 3 mins.

Horizon, GOW Norse, RE7 and Days Gone really blew me away. All won the show for me.

Oh, Insomniac's Spiderman even looks super promising. Good stuff and loads to look forward to that was not even shown. Like Nioh, Nier 2 and No Man's Sky.

I mean...he's not wrong?
It was pretty meh.

I say this every year and it doesn't happen, but it would be cool if they held back on some announcements and dribbled stuff out throughout the week instead of blowing their whole load at the presser. I'm still hoping for something else because I didn't see anything that got me super excited. Horizon looks interesting but I was already interested and I need to see more than just the combat.

Did they not show anything GT-related?

Great conference, weak ending. Days Gone looks fine, but I don't think it's the type of game you end on.
Should have been Red Dead.
GoW opening and Red Dead closing the show...fuuuuuuck.

Horizon has tremendous promise. Can't wait for that. Spider man will be good for the kids. Us veterans that have played through 25 spider man games over the years... yeah not enthused. Detroit has real promise man. I hope it comes together.

How can you own a PS4 and not enjoy that conference? Maybe thinking it was just decent would be understandable but to say it was terrible??! Really?!! *scratches head*

I wouldn't say terrible, but I won't be buying any of those games. Not for full price, anyway.

Relative to everything else, it definitely was better than "meh."

Relative to EA, it was a glorious, incredible revelation.

Thankfully, EA is not the barometer of conferences that relate to my interests.

ya right, how many of those games coming out right now? even next year? or 2018? and what about some games announced last year too?

this is the problem with Sony.

I was genuinely surprised by TLG release date. Hopefully they keep it locked.

Sony has more games coming in 2016 than MS does. Why do they need to keep showing them all? I appreciate that they decided to show us stuff that we have never seen before.

That.... was not good.

Microsoft started with a slimmer console with 4k playback, emphasized cross-play and ended with a more powerful console next year.

Sony had an orchestra? Cool?

How was it meh and how was it worse than Microsofts or the other publishers? Give me 3 reasons as to why Sonys was meh.

They showed a fucktonne of games in quick succession, what more do you want?

Microsoft had a new slimmer console, custom controllers, background music, a better way to find like-minded gamers, cross platform play, and a stronger console next year... What did Sony have?

Loved the conference. Horizon, GOW, Spider-Man and Kojima were big highlights for me.

TLG releasing in October is going to be badass as well. Great Show Sony.

MY HYPE IS OVER 9000!

There JUST ONE thing.

Gof Of War... and... a children?? Damn!! I hope he dies, that's the only way to bring Kratos cruelty out of his veins.

. and no new FF7R video? :(

Also, ITT I learned that anything third-person is suddenly TLOU.
Third person survival in the ruins of cities and out in the wilds, taken over by crazed people or worse. Took me a bit to see the God of War connection but I guess its in being responsible for the boy.

Too broad a comparison definitely, but there was a trend in the footage.

Watching now, but had me cracking up in class when it started

MS
- New Console and Gears of War in the first few minutes of and some people were posing it was boring

Sony
- GoW (TLOU version) to start and many proclaiming it to be the best conference eva!!

Obviously not the same people but the difference in tones is hilarious
It's all about presentation. We knew gears was coming so it wasn't a surprise to see it. Where as we had an idea that god of war was eventually coming but who actually expected a playable demo. They also had an orchestra, kratos didn't reveal himself right away, etc. Kratos = Microsofts Master Cheif.

Wut?

TLG is 2016 Oct
Horizon is 2017 March
RE7 is 2017 Jan
FFXV is 2016 Sept
CoD:IW/MW:RE is 2016 Oct
50 VR games by the end of the year

This is just from the top of my head without looking.

TBF, those are all multi platform games besides the first two. Unless you want to count VR games which is your prerogative.

That was a terrific conference. It was the shortest but felt the fullest with intriguing content.

The RE7 thing was interesting surprise, Horizon continues to look fantastic, and Kojima's new game looks like... definitely something that would only come from Kojima.

I also like it how Sony aren't giving generic release years after trailers for new games. None for GoW, Days Gone or even Detroit. They've learnt from the delays of the last few years.

Every year people complain about too much talking, not enough games. Well this year they just show game after game, no CG trailers, no blah blah blah, a few in game trailers and lengthy gameplay videos... what many many asked for in a conference. Now its ehhh it was too short lol.

Maybe it's not the same people complaining. The internet is not a collective consciousness.

Anyway, that was OK? God of War and Horizon were the only games I'm even remotely likely to play, and Days Gone is the most characterless, sterile thing I've seen in a long time, but it's a goddamn press conference. It's not a good place to know if video games are good.

Comment of the day! This perfectly sums up the tone of the conferences and why Sony is the clear victor today.

I own and love both consoles but Sony was just so on point while MS floundered completely.

PLEEEEEEASE. MS showed tons of games. They both had decent conferences. Why the need to tear one down to prop up the other?

The salt from any Sony E3 thread is flowing far and wide. It's like Sony can't do no good. Sadly, we have too many fickle gamers....I loved this show. IS this better than E3 2015 game release? But what is Nintendo or MS showing me that I have invested well in my Wii U or my Xbox One? PPL may say SOOONNYYY, but I enjoyed my PS3 gaming from the beginning to the end, and I knew that the games are coming to PS4 in bunches within the next two to three years. I don't get that feeling from MS and Nintendo....
