I remember PSVR had yearly blog post to celebrate anniversaries with upcoming games info, announcements and sales. It celebrated a couple of days early for its 2nd anniversary

PSVR2 had one last year too, where they announced they were working on PC compatibility and some upcoming games.

But nothing this year. No blog post or sizzle reel. It seems like Sony has forgotten that today marks the second anniversary of PlayStation VR2. I was actually looking forward for potential new AAA PSVR2 games announcement like Half-Life Alyx, or Sony’s next first party PSVR2 game announcement.

(Btw PSVR2 shares the same anniversary date as PS Vita in US)

Who cares.
Anniversaries are for kids birthdays and marriage tracking.
inanimate objects don't have birthdays or anniversaries.

They have abandoned it. For all its fault with ms, they still provide minimal support even to failed products. It's a shame especially since psvr 2 is a great piece of hardware. If Sony had given it a bit more support( especially in regards to first party) it would have been far more successful. Mind of reminds me of vita, imo.

They're literally going to be part of the VR games Showcase in a few weeks. I don't think they need an announcement on the anniversary of release every year. This is such a ridiculous thread.

PSVR2 is a failure only in the shadow of Quest 2/3 which are heavily subsidized. If Reality Labs gets shut down at the end of the year, where do you think all the VR games are going to go?

VR is in its infancy, Sony put out a decent headset that missed the mark on not being wireless but is maybe worse tethered to a really expensive console. They untethered it but it still requires a PC.

VR is too scattershot and expensive to develop AAA games exclusively around individual platforms. We'll see what the future holds for VR, but don't be surprised if Meta Quest 3 get discontinued after this year or if PSVR2 gets discontinued this year. The money isn't there yet, you're in the catch 22 phase of technology.

It is what it is. Mine literally has dust on it.

GT7 VR is amazing though and fun every now and then, as is NMS, and I'm looking forward to checking out The Midnight Walk, Dreams of Another and Subside.

But..

If support would be discontinued completely, I wouldn't lose a night's sleep over it.

C'est la vie.

Quest 3 is simply a better option for most cases. Plus Zucc has spared no expense in advertising the thing and moneyhatting exclusives.

I would like to play GT7 in VR tho.

Is celebrating a 2nd anniversary really that typical?

Sony aren't strongly supporting the PSVR2, but it's also not like they've completely abandoned it either. Every State of Play they do, there is always has some sort of PSVR2 presence.

For a device that's supposedly dead, there is a lot of moaning "who even cares about PSVR2?" whenever it's brought up.

PSVR2 is a great piece of hardware for high quality VR if you already own a PS5.

I don't mind that Sony first party doesn't support it, their resources are already stretched thin. Sure, I'd like a big title every now and then like an Asto Bot (smaller budget, but really impressive game), but the indies and third parties are carrying it well.
