Do you have some kind of sixth sense that alerts you every time someone posts an unreliable source?
I'm not complaining, it just seems like you're always the first post in these threads, and within minutes. It's like clockwork.
Sony should do anything possible to not price at $500, because consoles historically do not sell at that price. And they know it, especially after last gen. That's why they are struggling right now - they need to get the price down!
This is why consoles will always be limited, the first priority isn't to make some super powerful box but make an affordable, attractive, and easy to use console that people will buy. It is why these consoles, while they might be more balanced than last gen, still are limited by market realities.
Did you not read the recent posts by VoostKain or the latest CrapGamer videos ?
Thats not what $400 and $500 means, yoski! How did you even come to that conclusion? $400 and $500 is where people are expecting these consoles to fall.
This is 2020
Todays consoles technology are very different than back in the 90s and early 00s
$500-$600 is the reasonable pricepoint if you want to get a decent consoles to compete with high end PC
get with the times boomer
You expect more or less? Lower is always better. Any higher than $499 and either company will have problems moving consoles. If Sony is lower spec'd, they have to go lower. They cant afford to have a $500 console with lower specs against a competitor with higher specs at the same price. Not me, i never said something like this
The difference between then and now is that they use now commoditized PC parts, as opposed to specialized custom components.
They'll never compete with high end PCs, and there is no evidence that people are more willing to pay higher prices for a console than they have in the past. In fact, this generation solidified that.
Do you know much a GTX2080 card cost ( The standard that PS5 and Series X are trying to achiece)?
Lets face it a $399 consoles is imposible for nextgen
You guys are too hung up to that pricepoint because of PS4 sucess
a $399 for nextgen hardware wil only gets you a potatoes hardware like Switch
Huh?Fine, Lets go your route. Xbox has had much better news as of late for sure. I mean what - compared to Sony - they showed a logo a ten year old could've made. Or even guesses for that matter... C'mon broski! Facts are facts. Sony has been hiding for two E3's yet. Thats a bit unsettling.

It also helped Blu-ray win the format war.And it nearly tanked the company for good.... were it not for them selling tons of HDTVs as people swapped out their old CRTs at the same time they might not exist anymore. They also had to radically re-engineer the system to cut costs and drop the price.
2006-2008 were by no means good times for Sony.

We don't know what those systems are trying to do, but if they hit 2080, that means they hit high-ish end on 2018 cards. Not high-end on 2020. The 2080 is not a new GPU.
Has there been a single successful console that has come out ever at $500? I don't think so. If $400 is impossible for next gen then I predict low sales on next gen.
If Sony was comfortable with $500 then these reports wouldn't be coming out. They know this as much as anyone else.
It also helped Blu-ray win the format war.
Like i said your still basing this on a 90s and 00s consoles sales
$199-$399 is imposible for nextgen to compete with high end PC like it uses back then
Technology are far more complex amd intricate now
Those days of.cheaper consoles.are long gone
See that's what I meant by xboys spinningThe format war that they are now losing to DVDs as of this year. Let alone streaming.
...it was pretty much a pyrrhic victory.
Well it's this retard, I knew about him even before this shit: https://twitter.com/theap99/Holy Fuck!!
Im only like 4 minutes into that video and it’s amazing.
Grown dude crying.
“We lost Devil May Cry, we lost Kingdom Hearts and now this”
Thanks for sharing I don’t know how I’ve never seen this.
Dude, I own a business and work in entertainment as a paid professional. Price isn't the concern. Most people can't say that though. Most people, anything above $500 isn't going to look upon favorably. Not everyone can afford that price point. I can afford it and I'm not willing to spend more than $600 on a gaming console. Its just not that serious to me. Gaming is a luxury. Not a necessity. That's how moat gamers look at gaming. You guys need to give up and acept that new consoles gona cost $500-$600
The cost inflation, pc hardware components and everyhthing it makes senses
Why are you guys so scared with that pricepoint?
You guys really that broke or something?
Gaming is an expensive hobby
So if you cant aford that then perhaps you got other priority to do in your life beside playing videogame
Calling Flight Simulator 'boring', thinking 343i should not be allowed to make games(still calling MCC 'Broken Chief collection'), Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Tokyo Mirage Sessions are trash, The first thread he made after leaving the stadia camp was to make a 343i hate thread.According to Voost's post history, he didn't. Crapgamer....he just react how the wind blows.
Said everyone every time new consoles came out since the beginning of time (1978)
Yea I dont want to spend 2000 on a good gaming pc. People also forget you need to spend money on a great monitor as well. Thats so much costs. And then its outdated a few years later. If you got the cash and its your hobby, go for it. amazing. But me and my friends dont wanne do that. You can't compare a Pc to consoles. Many people don't want a Pc (in their living room) and most casuals will always stick to consoles.
Lol didn't we all expect around $500?
How is this an issue all of a sudden?
No you don't, unless you don't have a good TV. My PC has been connected to my 4k TV since I bought it.Yea I dont want to spend 2000 on a good gaming pc. See that's what I meant by xboys spinning
That saved me moneyOr they just don't want another vacuum cleaner / hairdryer.
Agree, the reality is both Sony and MS cant build their consoles just for enthusiasts. They must think about casuals who barely cant spend 399$.This is why consoles will always be limited, the first priority isn't to make some super powerful box but make an affordable, attractive, and easy to use console that people will buy. It is why these consoles, while they might be more balanced than last gen, still are limited by market realities.
I don't think so or do you know any toaster / refrigerator brand fanboys?
It almost sounds to me like Sony might use less RAM then what was originally intended, and are prepping us for it by leaking it to this reporter. If there truly is a constraint of RAM memory in the supply chain, why not wait till next year, Fall 2021, to release the PS5? Sure, the XSX will have a 1-year lead, but Sony has done this before with the PS3, which was released a year after the XB360, and it ended up outselling the XB360 by a few consoles in the end, even though it was harder to work with.
Dude, the problem isn't what the enthusiasts are prepared to pay for them, but what the casuals are. That's what will spell success or not.You guys need to give up and acept that new consoles gona cost $500-$600

There's been a lot of "Power Move Threads" lately. Is this there greatest power move ?
Sony is in trouble right now. They will follow Microsoft's pricing model for Xbox Series X, because lets face it, they dont hold a candle to Microsoft's technical prowess.
Microsoft knows what it is doing regarding Xbox Series X and has many more surprises stored for us.
New PS5 Feature Reportedly Cancelled Due to Supply Issues
More specifically, it's being reported that Sony was previously planning on including a new mirrorless camera with the PS5, but this had to be cancelled to a shortage of DRAM supply. Of course, this isn't a major feature for the console, but it does illustrate just how much this shortage of components is impacting the piece of next-gen hardware.
For those that don't know: a mirrorless camera, also called DSLM, is a camera that features a single, removable lens and that uses a digital display system rather than an optical viewfinder. Here, "mirrorless" is just a reference to the fact that the camera does not make use of an optical mirror or an optical viewfinder like you would see in a conventional digital single-lens reflex camera. Rather, it contains an electronic viewfinder that displays what the camera image sensor sees.

As far as cooling, Sony might not have to spend that much it they went with a tower, PC-like design.
Agree, there are informations supporting both (single and double digits), so nothing is certain until MS and Sony will finally reaveal specs. But no matter if next gen consoles will be 8TF or 12TF developers willl still make great games on both.More or less in line with what I've been expecting out of them. I do think the relative lack of transparency is not a good sign, tbh.
Probably worrying for some of the TFWarBoyz would be the cooling mention in all of that. I hope my theory/speculation holds out but saying the cooling is "very unusual" actually doesn't give too much hope on that front given what we've already seen with devkits and what a certain leak and successive benchmarks are generally showing. Only thing that can really assure me of a best-case scenario on that front is a new benchmark datamine with a somewhat beefier Oberon...we still got 'till end of March
I'm still #Team10.4_11 but I'm also covering my ass with a soft #Team9.2 because let's face it there's still a good bit of circumstantial coincidences and evidence tracing a while back that can support that one as well :S
All of that said, at the end of the day I don't think anyone should be obsessing over TFs so damn much. These systems are going to have some amazing stuff coming for next-gen and you would be surprised how often throughout console history systems that were considered the "weaker" ones could turn up arguably some of the most amazing looking games of that generation. Take PS2 for example. Generally outclassed by Gamecube and Xbox, but had the best-looking sim racers of that gen in GT3 and GT4, hands down. Best-looking JRPGs too in FFX (at the time it came out), and FFXII. Arguably the best-looking platformers that gen in games like Jak 3, Ratchet & Clank etc.
Basically, you don't need the most powerful console to have at least some of the best-looking games. You just need a system that's relatively capable and a flock of developers who can make it sing. Sony already has that with their 1st party these days, and PS5 and XSX will be competitive with each other regardless of where each one falls on the tech side of things. And PS still has the majority support from 3rd-parties, something (along with pushing harder on 1st-party content) MS has to up their game on, and I expect them to.
So yeah, I know a lot of people aren't going to like my take on some of the stuff I've just mentioned, but hopefully you also see that I'm coming at it from the bigger picture, and that power really doesn't mean everything. Hasn't Nintendo been consistently proving that for over a decade by now?
I'm fine with expensive consoles and considering that some people straight up pay 1000+ for cellphones on the yearly I don't see it being an issue.
People are spending $1000 on cell phones for themselves.. not many people are spending $1000 on cell phones for their kids...

Kid's aren't the primary demographic for games consoles are they?
I'm probably out of touch, being 31 and without a kid lol.
400$ is extremely cheap price (these days many people can buy 4x PS4P with their single salary) but I think even 599$ would be still cheap considering what people get (that's 5-7 years investment after all). You guys need to give up and acept that new consoles gona cost $500-$600
