Sony : Paris Games Week press conference dated

Honestly, from a personal perspective, I could not care less about FFVII:R or Shenmue 3, so I'm excited to hear more from the first party studios at PGW. I'm hoping the Dreams information blowout is really meaty.

this will be amazing!
i've learned that you've to be really carefull at neogaf, spoilers brings you hate and too much a ban.

My 2c predictions

-500gb edition gets a 50€/$ price cut, 1tb version gets new bundles
-Bend IP announcement (morpheus launch title)
-Sony London Morpheus IP (launch title)
-Uncharted 4 Multiplayer reveal + beta release date
-Horizon Trailer (2016 release confirmed)
-Dreams Demo (morpheus launch title)
-R&C gameplay
-No Mans Sky Trailer (moved to 2016, morpheus support)
-Batlefront Gameplay
-SFV characters reveals
-Persona 5 english trailer
-Rime
-WiLD
-Shadow of the Beast
-Indies
-Morpheus Info (name, price, release timeframe)

Quantic Dream could be a possibility, but i don't think it'll be a '16 release.
Maybe some other smaller 1st/2nd party devs too.

GT7 and GoW4 for PSX.

Do people anticipate new IP's revealed?

Gamescom 2012 :
Tearaway (new IP)
Until Dawn PS3 (new IP)
rain (new IP)
Puppeteer (new IP)
Killzone Mercenary

Gamescom 2013 :
Resogun ( new IP)
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture ( new IP)
Rime ( new IP)
Helldivers (new IP)
Shadow of the Beast
BigFest (new IP)
Murasaki Baby (new IP)

Gamescom 2014 :
Wild (new IP)
Tearaway Unfolded
Tomorrow Children (new IP)
Alienation (new IP)
Until Dawn PS4 ( re-reveal)

Anything less than 3 new IPs is a disappointment by Sony's usual standards.

It's good to confirm we should have a reason to look forward to an event. But not so good when you spoil what will be there. It's not quite the same as it ruins what the surprise will be. Why is that hard to understand? Zoetis got shit for leaking The Last Guardian info.

I'm looking forward to the smaller, downloadable titles the most. Stuff like Rime, Resogun, Alienation and so on. Sony always delivers when it comes to this.

BigFest (new IP)

What happend to this game? I've been hyped since its announcement but then it just gone completely silent.
Maybe we will finally get a release date at PGW..

My guess is that Uncharted 4 will be the main game of the conference and also possibly a pricecut due to Halo release. If there is a new IP wont be a AAA but hope I am wrong.

Anyone knows why Sony is doing the event at Paris? I mean UK and Germany could be a better place. Maybe it has something to do with Ubisof. Anyway Paris is a nice place , french consumers deserve it.

Because Paris is an event already happening, and it is happening at a time that suits SCEEs plans to talk about more stuff. They said that Gamescom was too close to E3.

There isn't an event in the UK really other than EGX and that IMO doesn't really suit a conference - although I'd totally be up for going if they tried it out.

I just want to see how the PGW will manage international attention considering how garbage it is (I've been there once, never again)

Do people anticipate new IP's revealed?

I anticipate updates on already announced new IPs, with a dash of new reveals.

Expecting Rime, No Man's Sky, The Witness and Dreams to all have solid information/release dates at the conference (Not Dreams though)

Or atleast I hope that's going to happen.

Out of all of Sony's first party studios, at the moment I am most interested in Sony Bend and Sony Japan. They seem to be the most mysterious and have the potential to surprise us the most at the moment. Especially Bend.

The funniest thing is Dreams has grown - for me - from being 'wow, what is that?' to Absolutely Most Wanted, more so than Horizon & UC4.

I fall into that group for whom the nostalgia was nice but a little alienating - I never played Shenmue so had no candle there, personally think FFVII should stay in the past where I will forever cry at the end of disc one and I wasn't part of the TLG club.

Dreams OTOH looks like the future - not just gaming, but of creative Toolkits that are accessible, powerful & produce things of beauty, so it's sad to hear that the nostalgia-fest caused some wailing & gnashing of teeth there.

I'm so excited for dreams. It will probably sell me that Morpheus. Hoping to see more of Dreams in the upcoming event, dying to know how they are going about letting people do their scripting. The microchips, logic gates and those wiring was so good and fun in LBP2+, I wouldn't mind typing some stuff in, though.

bend and quantic dream are the ones i want to see the most.

pipedream would be santa monica's new game but i expect that next year at E3

but i'm hoping for something completely out of the blue like them introducing a new wipeout.

Hmm, bad idea to have it on halo's day, halo will be all over the news.
I don't understand this thought process.. As big as halo is its not that big of a thing in the EU. And the conference at Paris games week is mostly for Europeans as e3 is for the U.S.
That there is overlap with game announcements that are for everyone from the eu studios, is just a plus for all :)
But it would be a great place to announce a world wide price cut just before the holidays that's for sure:)

Great post. The timing of the conferences isn't driven by local events, they just happen to be around the same time and by attaching themselves to a big event they get more media coverage. Simples.

Also makes sense that the SCEE/SCEJ bring more first party and smaller titles. First party at E3 you need to balance against the needs of third parties are the limelight, so you can bring a few big hitters but not too many. And the smaller titles would just drown in the background noise.

Eh? That's not what he said and it's not true. SCEJA's TGS conference is typically 90% third party, where pretty much every Japanese publisher (and sometimes even a western one, like Ubisoft in 2013) gets their own little segment of the show.

It was a good post though, I agree.

Is Sony Bend's new game the hinted-at open world'horror IP or am I thinking of something else?

I know a lot of people are getting sick of the "EVERYTHING WAS OPEN WORLD~!" meme, but the idea of an open world horror game has me fascinated. :}

Like what TheWorthyEdge did with PS Experience. Is this guy doing the same?

Why would they care about one or two little teases? It's when they start flaunting their knowledge around constantly that it gets annoying. Zoetis was actually already banned for doing exactly that before E3 (after a couple of warnings too), so you'd hope he finally learnt his lesson.

My bets for Sony's last 3 conferences this year (only "major" new stuff):

TGS:
  • Gravity Rush 2 + GR1 port
  • Bloodborne Expansion
  • Level 5 RPG
  • A bunch of Japanese VR projects
PGW:
  • Quantic Dream New IP
  • Playstation Home VR 2.0
  • VR Party game
  • No Man's Sky + Dreams VR announcement
  • Ubisoft VR Game (what would a new platform be without a proof-of-concept Ubisoft game?)
PSX:
  • Crash Bandicoot (small Cerny team)
  • Playstation All-Stars Spiritual successor (Including Cloud & Crash)
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Sony Bend VR Horror Game (Bend is in Oregon and PSX in San Francisco, so it makes sense to announce it here)
  • A bunch of #BuildingTheList localization confirmations

I, for one, am bloody excited for the Sony event. I am hoping for a lot of 2016-17 reveals.

I dunno about a lot. I think we'll maybe get 2 new game reveals and updates on a few other things with some third party stuff shown off too. QD's new game and maybe GT7? I think we'll see Bend's new game at PSX.

I agree with this. Telling us that it's going to be good without spoiling it is fine by me. I like being surprised. But I also like being hyped.

Hopefully, Yakuza Ishin and Yakuza-0 finally come over to the west.

Who am I kidding? Sega is likely going to continue being Sega... -_-
