Sony : Paris Games Week press conference dated

Pretty confused as to why Sony skipped Gamescom which is the biggest gaming expo in favor of this event.

This event, as you refer to it, is actually the second biggest expo in the world only slightly behind Gamescom in attendance number last year.

Plot twist , is an ingame gif :)

Hmmmm...people were crying tears of Joy at E3 this year, I don't think anything can top it. But from a gameplay perspective, I can see it being more from Sony's inhouse studios which really take advantage of the hardware. So more Horizon like moments at Paris and GT7? Yeah that will come pretty close to e3 for me. But its really hard to top that FF7R trailer. It was the stuff of legends, it even addressed the audience.

Gamescom is far superior than Paris Games Week. I went twice to Gamescom (2013 & 2015) and went to all Paris Games Week. Paris Games Week is very small compared to Gamescom. It is behind Gamescom but when there are only two events in Europe about gaming (I think there are more but they aren't as popular)...

Very small in what sense? Because in attendance number it's not small. If you mean it's small in terms of the games available to get hands-on time with at the event, then Sony is probably going there in full force this year.

So wouldn't the presence of an actual publisher and current console leader showing up to the event boosts its popularity

I'll take an example. It is impossible for me to do every hall of Gamescom (the press day). However in Paris Games Week, you can visit everything in only one evening (the press day). Of course, it depends on your interest

That's all I wish for. But I think the main problem might be visitors...

I do remember the same thing in Milan. The event has been cancelled.

I know that a lot of booth are being stolen. The event has a bad reputation here in France as far as I know

The event itself is public, if you buy a ticket: http://www.parisgamesweek.com/en/

The press conference is probably not public.

Yup, I know about PGW, I already went there twice, sorry I should have said press conference.
I asked this because the address tells it's going to happen at the "Parvis", which describe in French a place in front of a building (in case that would be the Grande Arche). And as I'm sometimes going to some events there, everything is open to public. That seems strange to do a private conference on a public place.
So that would be the first public conference of Sony (or am I missing one) ?

Or... Maybe the address isn't just that precise, and the conference will take place here : http://www.visitezen360.com/VIPARIS/EGA/visiteEGA.html (checkout the Espace Eiffel, which is under the parvis if I'm correct).

EDIT : Well, I... I Think I misunderstood the address... Forget it, the conference will surely be inside the place called "Espace Grande Arche", which is just under the parvis. So no public conference for this time :-(

Correct. In fact, I don't know about Gamescom, but I feel like PGW seems to be more focused on young people/family, less on press/professionals. That's why I think the Sony press conference here in France may be surprising for some people from the country (at least for me), but I'm really happy to see something of this scale finally happen (in fact I always wanted to be at a press conference :) )

Always on PGW, one of the really bad aspect is that most of the vigils seems to be mad, and I don't understand why, acting sometimes with a bit of violence... (I saw it).

This year, I really want the PGW to be more professional.

Despite this, last year there was some nice little stands, like the one dedicated to french indie games, but these stands were way too little.

I wonder what we'll get out of Uncharted 4

I'm hoping for a Story Trailer but the multiplayer trailer and beta date announcement is probably more likely.

Looks like I'll miss it, most likely along with a lot of other people. I'll be playing halo 5 on Xbox One, so maybe this is an indication that nothing important will be at the event.

They won't be playing H5 in mainland Europe since the Xbone is an endangered species there.

OT - GT7 announced as a Morpheus launch title. That would be bigger than E3 IMO.

Bigger than e3 is simply not going to happen. Period.

You can't drop a FFVII Remake, Shenmue 3 and The Last Guardian in one E3 conference and then top it at Paris Games Week.

Keep expectations in check.

Is Zoetis an insider?

The only way I could see PGW being bigger (at least for Sony) than E3 would be a combo GT7/ GoW4/ NMS available in two weeks and a price drop...

I mean... How do you top FF7R, TLG, Shenmue3 and Horizon?

You definitely don't.

I'm betting these things will show up:

Dreams gameplay demo
GT7 teaser
Hot Shots Golf 2016 release date with gameplay demo
Tomorrow Children release date (this year)

Maybe some gameplay demos of Rime. Maybe even some Soul Calibur 6 news since it's big in France, but I think Namco would either wait til TGS or wait til T7 drops first.

So with Valve seemingly still releasing the VIVE this year, Sony will have to say something about Morpheus at this event, right?

They'll probably save the price until close to release (maybe at the PS experience?), but maybe announce a release date? Shipping titles? Something?

My bet for PGW is Dreams gameplay, GT7 gameplay + release date, 100 €/$ price drop + new QD proyect + gameplays RIME, Wild etc. If all of the above shown would be wonderful but >e3 seems impossible to me.

What you are describing sounds like a far more attractive signal to noise ratio for Sony. They have the opportunity to absolutely dominate a well attended trade show.

I would bet the Morpheus gets its big push at PSX in December.

My wild guesses for the conference:

- Beyond/Heavy Rain Remaster
- Quantic Dream's new game
- new game from Ubisoft, something in the mould of valiant hearts/child of light
- more info on Dreams
- more info on Wild
- Uncharted 4 MP
- Sony Bend's new game
- Morpheus' reel
- GT 7 reveal
- Price drop
- PS1/2 Classics' support

The only way this could top E3 is with Crash and silent hills on top the list above.

It's not like it matters but here's my guesses
Quantic Dream game reveal
More info on MM Dreams
New footage with release dates for Rime and Wild
More indies from EU developers
Bundles
HD remaster or two
Horizon trailer
Morpheus trailer
Gran Turismo 7 would be the biggest announcment
Uncharted 4 will get new trailer but MP footage with beta date will be saved for PSX

I think zoetis is referring to an better show than E3 in terms of Sonys first party production....because despite all those megatons, there wasn't that much from the world wide studios

Sony Bend (open world horrogame)
Quantic Dreams (new ip) i know they aren't first party - but i just count them in
Polyphoni Digital (Gran turismo 7)
Sony London (new ip/morpheus)

revealing their new games

while

Guerilla Games (Horizon)
Media Molecule (Dreams)
Naughty Dog (Uncharted)
Sony Japan (TLG/Gravity Rush)

showing new Gameplay material

= That would be 8 first Party studios at one conference

More or less we'll see a lot about that for sure.
