Sony Pictures temporarily shuts offices in London, Paris and Gdynia, Poland, over coronavirus

Sony Pictures so not gaming related, the word picture is nowhere to be found in this thread.

Reports are coming in that Sony has closed three of its European offices due to concerns over the coronavirus. Offices in London (UK), Paris (France), and Gdynia (Poland) have been shuttered for the rest of the week as a precautionary measure.

Sony says that none of its employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, but it's still taking action after one member of staff travelled to a region where the virus is a known threat. According to TBI, an internal memo reads: "Out of an abundance of caution, the London, Paris and Gdynia offices will be closed for the remainder of the week, and employees should work from home"

As of now this is not affecting their gaming studios, but this could very easily affect Playstation if the virus gets worse.

Sony Europe are shit anyway, they might as well stay shut. No one will notice the difference.

Doesn't matter on how good they are, Sony will obviously follow the same safety policies.

This means that other studios will be shut soon when the virus gets predictably worse.

Good for them. This is just a beginning and other companies will do the same. Unless they don't give a shit about their employees.

I'm guessing it's going to be Autumn 2021 until we see the new consoles.

It's going to be a looong couple of years.

Good on them for caring for their work force health
I don't think they have loads of people over 60, and for anyone below it's pretty harmless. And just for the rest of the week is pretty weird. UK expects that we reach the height of the outbreak in three months. If they shut it down now for the week, surely they will have to shut them down for the next three months as a minimum.

I clearly said it hadn't affected their gaming studios as of yet, but this is still gaming related in a way as if Sony are taking this precaution with their film studios, and with the virus getting worse, then the gaming studios will follow surely.

Seems ridiculous to me. Unless you plan on staying closed for a year or longer it's not going to keep people safe from a virus like Corona. It's going to spread and spread like a flu naturally does.
