Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

That's cool I guess. And is it judges week?

So high quality models and multiplayer component, and prob entered full production last year (I think Rohde already confirmed the full prod on an interview with Colin tho)

EDIT: Wait a bit, what if this Naughty Dog guy going there means that Bend is gearing up a second team taking the Uncharted franchise again
and making Sam Drake's the new main character and stuff

Luckily Sony has Paris games week and PSX so... no not really.

People still think Sony are going to announce major games at PSX even after last year?

Also, Paris Games Week was a dud, I bet they'll be back at Gamescom this year.

Anyone else feel like Sony are holding all the cards in the lead up to this E3? There is so much they can potentially showcase during their presser, not just first-party wise but third-party as well. They're exceling so much right now that they've practically got the pick of the litter. I wouldn't be surprised if they've had to do a whole lot of editing in order to fit want they want into those 90 minutes.

I feel like we could say the same thing every year though, it's just a matter of what Sony and third parties are ready and willing to show.

This year, I feel like most of Sony's own announcements are fairly easy to see from here (especially PS4k, GoW4 and Dead Don't Ride) and there are just a few question marks but third parties are anyone's guess. I'll keep my expectations low though, because buying into the hype on GAF ends in disappointment 99% of the time.

How was pgW a dud? They announced two big exclusives, smaller ones, and gameplay trailers for new things same with psx

PGW was pretty great tbh. Detroit and GT Sport announced, new look at the Horizon demo, Dreams (kinda) better explained, Gravity Rush 2 great trailer and awesome lenghty demo for WiLD. Plus a bunch os smaller titles.

I'd rather it stay dead then. SOCOM 1/2 or nothing. I don't need a sequel to SOCOM: GRAW Edition.

Confrontation gave me Socom 2 vibes so I'm all for confrontation 2. It had a terrible start with bugs and missing. Features but if they gamine it to someone more competent then slant six I would be down. They literally don't have to do anything just make socom 2 hd and they have a winner. Take the sprint button out too.

Ni No Kuni and Ace Combat were announced at PSX. That's almost as good as E3 for me so I'm definitely going to continue having high expectations. lol

Also, yeah. I really hope they're back at Gamescom this year. Why the fuck would you boo someone at an internationally streamed game conference for speaking in English?

Not necessarily an online component based on that since he didn't seem to be involved with any online features. It more so suggest open world with a giant map.

So which studio is gonna be making the new SOCOM?

I don't agree. I spent thousands of hours on S1-CA and Confrontation never game me any sort of SOCOM vibes. If "Confrontation 2" existed, it'd have to be radically different for me to even care.

My fear is that they'll spend loads of time discussing PSVR and Neo. I don't care about either of those and only wanna hear about regular PS4 games!

I'm also disappointed that they likely won't have any exclusives besides The Last Guardian for this fall. I have very little confidence in that game and REALLY wanted Horizon :(

So has everyone else.
I'm looking forward to the name change.

Detroit: Become Human is the worst title I've ever heard. It sounds like an imperative when you read it, as if you're imploring the city of Detroit to become a human being.

And it doesn't roll off the tongue or have any linguistic appeal whatsoever. Beyond: Two Souls had the same problem, but this is ten times worse.

They won't discuss about Neo at all unless they're launching it in June.
They might have a section to showcase new VR titles but it's unlikely they'll attempt to do live demos again considering how things went last time.
About the exclusives The Last Guardian and GT Sport (in some form) seem to be their two big games for this fall.
Horizon is likely delayed to spring similarly to Uncharted 4.
Gravity Rush 2 and New Hot Shot Golf should be released this year as well, at least in Japan.
So Sony's lineup for the end of the year might be very japanese centric.

They showed psvr for like 5 minutes.

Gravity rush
Gt sport
The last guardian

GT will probably get its own event or a big Gamescom reveal (Europe is mad for GT). And Gravity Rush is going to get shafted so hard. Sad, but true.

As for other maybe 2016 stuff, there's Dead Don't Ride. The thing's been in development for as long as PS4 has been out

Nah full development didnt start until early last year.

I don't think we will see TLG, GT Sport, Gravity Rush and HSG in the second half on 2016 either.

September has both Persona 5 and Final Fantasy XV launching.

I don't see Sony releasing any important game in Japan between those 2. GT Sport could be a November-December release in Japan and TLG in October. I feel Gravity Rush and HSG will work better as February or April releases, with Horizon launching in March, May or June.

Is RIGS going to be a PSVR launch title? For what I've read here on GAF and the press it's getting quite a bit of attention.

Is there any chance we will get Uncharted 4 Single Player DLC trailer at E3?

PSX is more plausible I guess. TLoU was June 2013, and Left Behind was released in February 2014 with the first trailer beeing shown in January I think. So I imagine this would get the same window. But who knows

I feel like this year is different from others though, because Sony had something like four different gaming conferences last year, and while a couple of them were somewhat wobbly overall content wise, each one still managed to contain some big announcements. Now Sony are going into E3 with a whole wealth of things they can give stage time to, on a level like never before. Just as some examples, you've got TLG, Shenmue III, FFVIIR,, Persona 5, Ni no Kuni 2, Ni-Oh, FFXV, Dreams, Detroit, Wild, Horizon, GT Sport and Gravity Rush 2. Those are all games that could be considered crowd-pleasing material to the PS demographic I'm sure. And then there's all the rumoured stuff that hasn't been announced yet, like Bend's Dead Don't Die, GoW4, Crash Bandicoot (whoever's making that god knows) and that Spiderman project.

I know we'll still have to sit through some awful dreck, like timed exclusive announcements and some Activision suit shitting out the usual Call of Duty spiel for the umpteenth time, and then there will be some demo of a Ubisoft game that was announced five hours beforehand at their own conference, so on and so forth. But I'm just saying, Sony are in a position right now where it's so easy for them to knock it out of the park. It's their console generation.

Yeah I guess you're right if they're going to announce big AAA games at E3 then they have to save something for PSX as well.

I'd like to know which studio is working on that big jrpg Verendus was talking about. The one said to be risky and a similar effort to what Sony did with Legend of Dragoon back in the day. I wonder if it could be unveiled this year what with all of the other things that could be announced at E3.

I was just thinking about Media Molecule and their place in the industry given the current state of the market. I am not sure Dreams will catch on commercially and critically and other than Dreams, they've only made platformers. Platformers aren't exactly thriving right now and I don't know if having a studio dedicated to those type of games is best.

I just don't know if Media Molecule still has a firm spot within the market with the way things are right now.

Maybe they can transition to a VR studio if all else fails.

If psvr can take off even alil bit mm will be fine

Question:

Since Kadokawa purchased From Software recently, would that 3 game contract with Sony still be intact or honoured?

BB was probably already in the works prior to the purchase, hence the exclusivity, but what about the remaining 2 games? I ask because didn't From say recently that their post-DS output would be multiplat (PS4/XB1/PS/PSVR)?
No, they just said they would be shipping games on those platforms over the next few years - that could be any combination of platforms (or a singular platform) for any particular project.

Media Molecule are a fairly small team and wouldn't be expensive too run compared to others. The LBP franchise made huge amounts of money for Sony so I think they're fairly safe atm to be more adventurous.

Besides Ratchet and Clank sold extremely well and that shows that people still want platformers.

Being bought out doesn't void existing contracts and even if it did and Kadokawa meddled in From's affairs (which I don't think they do, otherwise we'd probably be seeing Dark Souls 4, 5, etc.), it's in Kadokawa's interests to work with Sony.

And that recruitment video was only talking about IPs they own. Why do you think Demon's Souls and Bloodborne weren't shown in it?

This is not really a new game, but looks like ''World Of Warriors'' from Mind Candy (Moshi Monsters) is now a ''2nd party'' game, because its beeing published by Sony, and the trailer features the ''Sony Computer Entertainment presents''

Trailer

Today we’re really excited to announce, that the team at Virtual Toys will be bringing World of Warriors exclusively to PlayStation 4 later this year. This is the first time this epic universe from Mind Candy (creator of the global phenomenon Moshi Monsters) has been realised in all its glory on console.

World of Warriors is a combat focused adventure, where the greatest warriors in history have been summoned to a land beyond our own, a mysterious kingdom known as the Wildlands. Here the only way to survive is to FIGHT!

To help you along your way, you will be able to summon new warriors from the Temple of Epics and bolster your ever growing fighting team. We are bringing a varied roster of favourites from series 1 and 2 as well as a few that have never been playable before.

Your adventure will take place across the unique fighting arenas located across the vast Wildlands. Each arena is a living environment with mechanics to master that could turn the wave battle in (and against) your favour. But you don’t need to fight alone, bring a friend to fight by your side and battle in up to four player couch co-op or bring the fight online and take part in online leagues, battling your way up the ranks to become champion of the Wildlands.

There is a lot more to come in the upcoming months, but in the meantime, check out our announcement trailer below and stay tuned to PlayStation Blog for upcoming news from the Wildlands!

What is Sucker Punch up to? Their last game Second Son/First Light was 2014, 2 years ago now. If their next game isn't announced until 2017 E3, it might be a 2018 game. They just finished building an all new good looking PS4 engine with Second Son, what the heck could be taking them 4 years? Just seems so odd.

They've been actively hiring for awhile now. I guess we'll find out at PSX.
