Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

Kojima got the core designer of the FOX Engine in his team

But it looks like that’s not all, either. Apparently, Kojima also has Masaki Saito and Jackie Tan, formerly game designers at Konami, working at his new studio. He’s also managed to get Yasuhiro Kawakami, cinematic artist at Konami, working at the new Kojima Productions. Chihoko Uchiyama, who was the senior character designer at Konami, has also been recruited by Kojima. And in what is probably Kojima’s biggest coup, he has Akio Sakamoto, the man who designed the core of the FOX Engine, working with him at the new Kojima Productions, too.

Decima Engine could benefit from that

What was the last first party studio Sony opened? These closures and the seeming lack of expansion is concerning. Are Media Molecule and Sucker Punch gonna be dropped if they don't set the world on fire with their new stuff? It's just seriously disappointing.
I think the industry is very different now. A lot of the bigger Sony studios were created at a time when latching on to a big publisher and scaling up with them was the norm

These days you are more likely to see a situation like a Santa Monica partnering with an independent developer who values their independence and working on a title together

You can say by looking on this photo that TLOU Part II is in full production now :)

Welp, Switch is releasing a few days after Horizon: Zero Dawn (with Zelda: BotW as a launch title). I honestly wouldn't blame Sony and Guerrilla if they delayed Horizon to give it a bit more breathing room. Switch is going to suck up almost all the attention at that time, and Mass Effect Andromeda is following a few weeks later.

No need, Nier Auto is the one should be delayed ,cause it share audience with Switch
Horizon is a mainstream game ,even with a female MC

I think horizon will be fine. We still don't know what the initial adoption for switch will be like

Delay? They should push up.
Horizon will get slaughter in review if they release after Zelda. Can you imagine Dragon Age Inquisition release after Witcher 3?
Not saying that's the case, but Zelda will most likely raise the standard.

Zelda is mainsteam too and shares a lot of general themes with Horizon. I can just foresee there not being a lot of attention on it because the Switch will be a big deal and will take up an awful lot of column inches.

That's true, but I doubt suddenly telling the team the game needs to release in 3 weeks instead of 7 probably isn't feasible. To be fair I think Horizon's game world looks as amazing as Zelda's, but it's the latter's interactivity which will probably benefit it.

Horizon will be fine. We don't need to go the "Why isn't this game more like Zelda?" route.

I don't think Horizon needs to be more like Zelda - Horizon has been my most anticipated game since it was revealed 18+ months ago. I just think there are similarities and Horizon might suffer from launching at almost the same time as one of the biggest brands in videogaming.

On a different console, against a game on a not yet proven console.

I understand the hype for the switch but I think some need to calm down alil. Horizon is unaffected

I think Zelda looks great and all, but I am not sure how you can say this. For instance, the combact shown in Horizon looks at least as engaging as that shown in Zelda...Visually Zelda is beautiful, but Horizon is a generation above it technically. Best case scenario is they both turn out to be awesome games.

Reviewers might get review copy at the same time and comparison will be made regardless of the difference.
I'm just worry about both games doesn't get fair review.

I woundn't worry, because:

1. PS4 Pro users.
2. Price (60 USD for Horizon or 360 USD for Switch/Zelda)
2. PlayStation is WW brand, while Nintendo is only relevant in Japan, US and some Western European countries.

+ also availability, Nintendo is planning to ship only 2 million consoles in launch month – http://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-switch-will-ship-2-million-units-in-launc/1100-6444804/

I think there is space for both do great without impeding one another.

Almost as if there's loose pocket change now for some reason (rip cambridge) , Sucker Punch is going on a relatively large hiring spree, looking to add headcount of additional 12 devs of various discipline to their team of 100-ish.

Ramping up for that E3 2017 reveal. =P

I wonder how far along Sucker Punch game is when its announced. If I had to guess the announcement to release time it would be something like 12-18 months

I think that Sucker Punch's project is further along than most people believe. Obviously depends on the size of the game—I presume it's open world, but that can mean a lot of different things in terms of scope—but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's revealed at E3 2017 and launches in, say, March or April 2018.

Of course, if they hold it until PSX, October/November 2018 seems more likely.

Western Gaf, have you saw any GR2/Nioh marketing recently?
Does SCEA just fuck up their japanese dev exclusives?
Zero-marketing?

Nioh was indeed a bit surprising that it's not receiving bigger marketing. Not that I expected Bloodborne, but I expected more than GR2 sizably.

Such a cruel world we live, eventhough I understand their reasoning. I hope they achieve their sales target but it won't stop some morons over here going, "lol gr2 bomba, hyuk hyuk "

I don't think that's surprising at all. It really isn't an accessible game and it doesn't have the graphics or polish to look good in screenshots.

I agree that GR2, sadly, has plenty of business reasons to not get big marketing.

But I still think SIEA is really shitty in regards to GR2 regardless.

Put it this way...

SIE Europe and Japan put up the GR2 Japanese cat advertising on YouTube.

SIEA didn't.

SIEA can't even do the half-arsed job of promoting GR2 with pre-existing content from another region, and excuses like "b-b-b-ut it's Japanese actors" fly out the window when Europe team has no discomfort about it.

If I was the real Kazuo Hirai, I would like to tell House: " You're fired!"

Yeah gotta give props to sie europe putting p the jp ad on their channel. Let's hope asia and europe help pick up the slack. Maybe it's going to be a word of mouth title?

Surprised about nioh. I thought the reason siea is publishing the game so that a demon's souls situation won't ever happen again

Revealed at E3 2017, released Fall 2018? That would be 18 months-ish.
Given that it's a new IP I don't see it coming out in the fall, Sony loves the Q1 slot for their new IPs this gen. Only new IP I could see releasing in the fall would be Death Stranding. Well and I've predicted Detroit in October this year, but that isn't a game with franchise potential

Well judging from mathijs' twitter, horizon is about to go gold soon.
What did he say?

Yeah, I think it will hit spring 2018. That will be 4 years after Infamous.

My hearts says, do not trust them. My brain the opposite.
Why? Okay dude last year they said knack 2 was going to be at e3 2016, dead don't ride/days gone was gonna be about a dude with a flaming skull or some kind of malarkey. In the past, they also said vergil from dmc was going into a trex. So yeahhh they're really credible huh?
