Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

Why? Okay dude last year they said knack 2 was going to be at e3 2016, dead don't ride/days gone was gonna be about a dude with a flaming skull or some kind of malarkey. In the past, they also said vergil from dmc was going into a trex. So yeahhh they're really credible huh?

Better to believe it and be surprised later on, than dissapointed.
Devs say that the game is light on menu management and RPG aspects because they want the game to be fast and accesible to as many people as possible, I wouldn't be surprised if the game is not very dense in content.
However the lenght of main missions and side stuff are bigger than Shadow of Mordor and I was ok with the content of that game (back then when there was nothing to play).

It is not about 4chan. I was hoping for quest variety like Witcher 3, means, hundred of hours of gameplay, fucking huge open-world.
45 hours is plenty of hours. lol

I was hoping for ~80 hours :(

Maybe it's just me, but I'm completely fine with 40-50 hours for total completion.

I don't have time for a bunch of 70, 80, 100+ hour games anymore, especially with Q1 being fucking packed.

But we still don't know that? And some of us can't spare 80 or 200 hours of gameplay

There you go, beaten by Mass Effect. Btw me2 was 45 hours ish and that game was one of the goat

The Witcher III level of content doesn't exist outside The Witcher III. I think Guerrilla was open an said that the game wasn't super big but more focused. Although yeah, I did (kinda still do) expect a 100hs game.
If it's less it'll depends of how much sense it makes for the game and how good it is.

~45 hours is great for me. A packed RPG that avoids being overly long.

When I was younger, yeah, give me all the hours. Now, nah lol.

It is also fine if Horizon is more tightened and focused.

Also this. I'd rather have a more focused world than one full of Ubisoft-like nonsense filler.

many devs who worked on W3 are now working on Horizon. So I think it's going to be big, 60-90 hours to complete 100%. They could tried to copy the W3 idea but with less missions but with more quality. Even W3 had some brilliant quests, I think Horizon gonna offer us the same.

Yeah I would rather have a 45-50 hour experience than a drawn out 200 hour one, CDPR is the only studio I trust to do that

4chan rumors aren't worth getting worried about though

Either way, everything I read about those rumors were super exciting and very plausible (except the ending, I didn't read that shit or course!).

What else was there? PM me if you can't post here. No story stuff obviously

I don't think it's really that spoilery but i'll keep it vague:

Different biomes, most of what people wants in the game.

Something about hacking animals, I'll post it in spoilers but it's really inoffensive:
Almost every animal is hackable.

And a fantastic gameplay element that you get late in the game. It was the biggest spoiler I read. ;)

The spoiler tagged part is music to my ears. Hope that's true

Is someone really complaining about the prospect of 45 hours for Horizon?

I'd be happy with 30 hours.
15 hours for the main quest, 15 hours for side quests and exploration. I think that would be perfect for an action focused open world game with RPG elements. Keeps unnecessary bloat out of the game.

If 4chan is to be believed its 20 hours for main quest and 45 to 100%. But it's 4chan so we should stop talking about it. Even though I've instigated part of the discussion about it

if the 4chan rumor is true then the game is 20 hours, 45 is just to get 100% completion

20 hrs is kinda disappointing to me

I can understand that. For me I think 20 hours for completion works since I have a lot less time to play now. Hopefully all 20 hours are really fun

When I play these open world RPG's I spend so much time just walking around doing nothing, so if there's 45 hours of quests I'll still end up putting in way more

If I was the real Kazuo Hirai, I would like to tell House: " You're fired!"

I doubt Andrew House oversees low-level things like marketing budgets on smaller releases per territory. If someone at Sony America isn't doing their job it should be up to Shawn Laydon to shout at one of his lackeys to sort it, or allocate a bigger marketing budget.

This is pretty much where I'm coming from. If it's say 20-30 hours to complete the game and then a little under twice that to 100% it, that will suit me fine.

Yeah, it feels to me that someone over at SIEA's marketing team with enough influencing power has a strong belief that more "niche" games aren't worth pushing over big AAA games, and that rather than give it a 90:10 treatment, it's more worth it 99:1 treatment in terms of ratio of marketing.

Part of me would love a scenario where SIE's leadership board mandates a preferential treatment for all first-party titles in marketing/support/etc no matter how bomba they're likely to be, but as someone who has worked in marketing before, that is a nightmare to work with.

I think it might be useful to have a (somewhat) comprehensive list of upcoming PS4 exclusives here for easy reference, and this seems like the best thread for it. Let me know if there's anything that should be changed or added.

This list will be updated as games and release dates are announced and changed. Notable timed exclusives are included. PlayStation VR games, with one or two exceptions, are not. Release dates are North American and, where noted, estimates.

Serious question, why exclusive deal is different in different region?
For example, Yakuza 0 Chinese version is "Only on Playstation", but western version is "Console exclusive". But if it release on PC, it would be non-regionlock, Sony pay this game for "Only on Playstaion" but get nothing in the end?

Sony didn't pay for anything as far as I'm aware. Based on what Atlus has said, the NA box was merely a mistake, EU copies have the Only on PlayStation label.

Btw, a few of those labels on the list are wrong, SamNW. Just from skimming through it:
- Yakuza 0 is platform exclusive in the west (not just NA either)
- Digimon World is platform exclusive in the west
- Berserk is "8th Generation Console Exclusive" (though I feel at that point you may as well just say Console Exclusive)
- What Remains of Edith Finch and Wattam are up in the air, they may come to other consoles now that Sony isn't publishing them
- Yakuza Kiwami is platform exclusive

And the lack of Cosmic Star Heroine is shameful.

Amazing post SamNW - although possibly a few minor mistakes? Do we really know Wattam, What Remains of Edith Finch and Vane are PS4 exclusives?

What about SIEE? Any Europe GAF here, have you see marketing of GR2/Nioh?

I have not, although I don't visit many websites outside of Gaf and BBC, and I barely watch any TV. About the only marketing I get exposed to is billboards or YouTube videos so I'm not the best barometer.

And the lack of Cosmic Star Heroine is shameful.

I don't think that's an exclusive though? I seem to recall in one of the Kickstarter updates they said it would be coming to Xbone as well. Looks like I'm wrong, as they only talk about PC, Mac, PS4 and Vita on the KS page. Maybe I'm mixing it up with Hyper Light Drifter.
