Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

He called it a teaser, said there'll be gameplay. He's got everything covered unless they don't show the game at all. You contradict yourself easily when you don't know anything.
At least he's better at covering his ass when he's wrong.

On another note what is Sony park going to be? Is the building just moving locations?

3 years is not that long. SP is not a big team like ND or GG, so prototyping different ideas and get the game running gonna take time.

But shu Yoshida has actually played it which means it's way past prototype phase and that was sometime back in 2015.

I would love for the SP title to show up this E3, but won't be surprised either way if it does or does not. It is a new IP after all, there can be some issues or things can take longer when you're trying to establish something new.

Also, I really want them to have a decent amount time for development rather than rush out a title again. I liked Second Son, but it did suffer due to needing to be out near the PS4's launch.

Like I posted, Shuhei Yoshida has actually played it back in 2015. SO it's probably a lot farther along than you think.

Ok Kaz Gif time!!

You're missing some pretty important stuff, and also disregarding that if Sony sticks to their plan (no reason not to), the PS5 will likely be announced Q1 2019 for a November 2019 release.

With that in mind, I find the following possible calendar to be more likely imo

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - June-August 2017
Knack 2 - July-September 2017
Spiderman - July-September 2017
Gran Turismo Sport - October 2017
Dreams - November / December 2017
God of War - December 2017
From Software next/Bloodborne 2 - February 2018
Days Gone - March 2018
WilD - May/ June 2018
Detroit - September 2018
FF7R - November / December 2018
Sucker Punch New IP - March 2019 (at the latest, I could also see a late 2018 if Sony was very confident and if ready)
Death Stranding - April 2019
The Last of Us 2 - May/ June 2019

I really hope that sony doesn't release a new playstation so soon. Who the fuck wants the 2.5 years of no games that releasing a new console brings?

I would imagine the PS5 will be fully backwards compatible with PS4 games. It'd be a dumb move not to include it moving forward, especially now that they're on PC architecture. Can't use the cell processor as an excuse anymore to not include BC.

Well, if PS5 releases at the end of 2019 then Horizon 2, new Toyama game, God of War 5, Days Gone 2, and maybe a new Naughty Dog IP will likely be ready within the first year or so

I don't think that will happen again, they seem to be getting all their ducks lined up. Their production schedule is recovering from the gaps left by the Santa Monica cancellations and from Bend's slow transistion.

And cross gen games should be super easy this time, we won't be content starved.

People are seriously overestimating Scorpio's impact. I remember all the so called momentum the XB1 slim had which lasted what 2-3 months before PS4 continued business as usual and in February PS4 outsold it by close to 200K units in the US. Throwing a bunch of games in Q4 just to counter whatever short momentum Scorpio will have is a waste.

I'd just remove From Software, aren't all their next games multiplatform?

I expect they signed a three game contract with Sony. It's what Sony tends to do with development partners as far as I can tell (ie Quantic Dream, Thatgamecompany, Giant Sparrow) and Yoshida openly lamented not supporting Demon's Souls which makes me think they'll have got From down for more than one exclusive. Their next game for Sony might be a new IP, but despite Miyazaki not liking sequels apparently I don't think Bloodborne 2 is off the cards.

Looks reasonable, yes. Btw, Sony also has the following games in their pipelines:
-Detroid: Become Human by Quantic Dreams
-Dreams by Media Molecule.

Yeah, I totally forgot those two. I'm expecting Detroit later this year, and who knows really on Dreams. I think we'll probably have a beta in a few months but the actual game won't launch until probably 1h 2018.

Shoutout to days gone new ip, 6mil views

Maybe it means nothing really, but Horizon's trailer is at 7.5 million views. If there's something to take from that ratio and Days Gone has 4/5 of Horizon's success that would be amazing for Bend.

Sure, you're not wrong, but it was ten past two in the morning when I wrote that so I knew there was stuff I'd miss. Also, I fully expect The Last of Us 2 and Death Stranding to be cross-gen in the same manner as GTAV and TLoU were (ie upgraded versions launching a year later).

HA ha, that's awesome. Kaz has so much swagger.

Only short teaser? https://twitter.com/Tidux/status/849311739191734273

Which means the game isn't that far advanced in development. What was Sucker Punch doing all this time?

It doesn't necessarily mean the game isn't far along at all. It could mean they're in a crucial stage of development and don't want to take important resources to make a customised demo for E3, or it could mean the game's going to get revealed now but will have a rollout of info over several months into and including PSX. Plus, Tidux is full of steamy creamy bullshit.

Realized this when I saw someone say they'd be surprised if Sony won E3 this year.

They're gonna have a walk-off victory. Microsoft would have to have made the deal of the century with the devil to pull the curtains back on enough software just this year to make Scorpio matter much comparatively.

There is a reason they moved their conference to the weekend and it isn't confidence.

Which is a shame because it should be about how well MS is doing within their own sphere. The notion that MS can do something to suddenly put the X1 on par with (or even exceed) the PS4 is silly. That train left a long time ago and it could be argued there was never a train to begin with.

But you wonder if one of their reasons was because of time? They usually go before sony, so they are pressed for time in getting their conference done.

I think we shouldn't make those assumptions to be honest. I mean software wise I agree because we've had people like SHinobi even mention not to expect much in terms of new software announcements.

But never count people out. I will agree though this year depending on what Sony has left for releases in 2017, there's no one really able to compete on their level this year.

And if they do a presentation similar to last year's with just showing game after game even if it's extended gameplay from games we've seen it will be hard to top.

Going before Sony doesn't press them for time. Going before Sony makes it easier for Sony's typical barrage of announcements to drown out Microsoft's. This way, they stand to maybe get more time in the news cycle without sharing the limelight.

Time has nothing to do with it. The last 2 years they've had good conferences (well, last year not so much) but no one talked about them because Sony's were so much better. This way there will be more time where they are the talk of E3

I think it also has more to do with getting away from what Sony is doing. With the slot they have now, their news can get more spotlight and discussion. With the way it was before, Sony drowned them out mere hours later.

I do think it will just be another solid show from MS though. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Last year was really bad i barely remember anything from the Microsoft conference outside of the FFXV fail,Scorpio and We Happy Few.

Oh, I gotcha. So basically letting it hit the airwaves and have articles come out to drum up excitement. Makes sense when you think about it that way.

Their only issue will be if Scorpio is presented with not much but third party and games we already know about. Unless these look like a new gen and are showing unique gameplay I don't see their software carrying as much weight as Sony's.

Especially if Sony Drops bombs.

Yea it was pretty terrible and all the xbox articles coming out of E3 would say other wise to try and mitigate the overwhelmingly positive conference Sony had. I mean if we get a SHenmue 3 trailer or with gameplay it will make headlines in game news. Gaf will explode, or they show bloodborne and then a 2 next to it the servers here will be down for a while.

I think Spiderman, Days Gone, FF VII episode 1 will steal E3 easily.

The only first party game that impressed me last year was Forza Horizon 3 and I don't even like racing games lol

Anyway I expect their show to please Xbox fans this year. What I don't know is if anyone else will give a shit

Seeing as we've only heard tweets from certain xbox entertainers, and a few fans about Scorpio and no leaked third party partners talking about how great it is I would say your right.

If by next week after the dust has settled on DF look at scorpio's hardware we don't here anything from anyone developer wise, you know it's a possibility MS might be in trouble this E3.

Yep. I mean, I expect the Scorpio to be a great piece of hardware, but not some game changer. Regarding the games, the only 2 I'm currently excited to see at their show are Shadow of War and Assassins Creed. Multiplatform games. That says all there is to say about their exclusive lineup

Does anyone believe we might see the resurrection of Silent Hills at E3? The reaction to P.T. was phenomenal and Konami must surely have recognized that before the strife with Hideo Kojima. There was a wild rumour in 2015, denied by Phil Spencer, that Microsoft had secured a deal with the title, but I'd like to think Sony would make a stronger offer. Sony appear to be cutting back on smaller timed exclusive deals recently, in order to finance the next wave of blockbuster third-party deals?

Sure

Also Agent will show up at Nintendo as a Wii U exclusive

Anything that came of a new SH wouldn't be KojiPro's vision. As far as we know, the game wasn't really that far into development. Afterall, KojiPro were busy trying to wrap up MGSV at the time. So, the Silent Hills that was envisioned by them will never see the light of day.

and who'll make this happen? Kojima is busy with Death Stranding now, Toyama is making another action/adventure game and Akira Yamaoka is not that interested in producing/developing new game.

Like, from 2007 till 2012, no one was saying "Maybe Sony shouldn't go last during E3? That'll fix their perception problem." The time the event takes place has no bearing on how people react to it afterwards - its all about the content of the conference itself.

That Silent Hills rumor saying Microsoft purchased it for a fucking BILLION dollars was one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. They could fund the entire Xbox division for over a year with money like that.

Also times of conferences is honestly irrelevant. The content is set in stone weeks, maybe months, in advance. They don't just change things on the fly barring something radical.

it has nothing to do with Sony and everything to do with their own announcements. Neither 2015 or 2016 were particularly good years, certainly not when compared to 2013
