Sony PS5 era profits exceed $13 billion, more than the profits from PS1-PS2-PS3-PS4 put together

Imagine making $13 billion in profit off of the hard work of their employees who they continue to lay off, and consumers who they continue to exploit by increasing subscription prices and console prices.

Greed knows no bounds.

This is still giving Sony nightmares to this day:

I get your point but greed is everywhere. There's mills in the U.S that wanna break ur back and destroy ur body for next to nothing and then they replace u if you can't meet a quota that is meant to make you burn out. There's employees at walmart making nothing and having to throw truck all night in the heat and put up with a hole customers all day. There's so many corporations and jobs that are pure shit nowadays and don't wanna pay you anything, and it's a shame.

People love to rag on big profitable companies firing people.

Sony makes big profits, including from their gaming division. And they even went balls to the wall firing 40 people from Bend Studios.

40 people.

The Bitter Critters will be here to derail the thread with silly talk

Blue Critter signing in b1ch.

Let's bring some reality to this early. Critical thinking questions, everyone:

1. Does this account for inflation?
2. What are their profit margins looking like before or after inflation?

I left PlayStation during the launch of the PS3 and just came back to the Sony camp about a year ago. It's been great catching up. So much so I upgraded to the PS5 Pro. So yeah, I'm clearly the reason for Sony's recent success.

Yet apparently Sony focusing on GaaS is a bad thing?

Today's generation of gamers don't like single player games.

Most of them grew up with Minecraft, Fortnite, and Roblox.
i mean the are making bank thanks to all the third party games. Sony is not paying for the development of those. But with their own GaaS not only they will have to pay for the development, they will compete with third party ones. loose-loose escenario.

All that money but only 2 good games.

There's a ton of good games on PS. This might shock you but people don't buy PS just to play PS first party games. They buy it to play all the games that come to the system 3rd party, first party etc. In fact here's the real shocker most of that money they are making is from people buying 3rd party games/microtransactions.

You are wrong sonny Jim as Astro Bot and Stellar Ass are selling like hot cakes whilst LBGT Concock are selling like herpes.
Astro and Stellar are one and dones, heck they didn't even break 5 million sales combined.

GaaS provides the possibility of steady income, where as your Astro and Stellar does not.

The only game I've played on my PS5 is Apex so how the fuck would that shock me?

Sonys GaaS adventure crashed and burned mid launch. Out of the 12 gaas games they said they would release by 2025, only two launched. One flopped so hard it was un launched and the other was a massive success. But it was still just one game. 9 of them were canceled, and the last one marathon is on life support after a terrible beta.

They made $13 billion inspite of their gaas agenda, not because of it. 95% of their exclusives are single player. Gow and Spiderman 2 broke all previous sales records for Sony first party games before helldivers was even a thing.

They also benefited heavily from once in a generation games back to back to back with Elden Ring, hogwarts and helldivers shattering sales records the last few years. Not to mention free exclusives like of huge third party games like baldurs gate 3, and wukong thanks to ms fuckups.

Great news for Sony and shareholders, bad news for gamers, now Sony knows that they can do the bare minimun for a whole gen and get away with It ( with full pockets )

My theory of this weird phenomenon with PS5 big success even with so many Sony managements blunders:
1. Ps5 is really a good hardware.
2. PS fans are really patient and loyal.
3. There are so many Xbox refugee.
4. There are many gamers from PC community who finally brought Ps5 because they cannot wait for the one year or longer exclusivity on some ps5 exclusives or 2nd or 3rd party time exclusives.
5. Upcoming exclusives.
