What I'm saying is how are more people concerned about PlayStation 1st party now when they are selling better than ever when most PlayStation 1st party games used to only sell to a small percentage of gamers.



Like you see people complaining that Sony is making Horizon games & stop making KillZone but you look at the numbers and see that KillZone II only sold around 2 million.

It’s fake concern and FUD from the usual suspects. There is absolutely nothing to be concerned about when it comes to Sony’s first party games. The only thing that really concerned me was their hard push towards GAAS but now that they’ve cancelled most of them I think they are on the right track. If anything, Sony should double down on their current course and keep releasing more first party games with less remasters and remakes, we need sequels and new IPs from them.

I don't think sales is what people are concerned with. Feel like it's an uncertainty with where Sony is headed with all the changes in leadership and the cancellations. State of Play was where people kinda got their hopes up thinking they were gonna see Death Stranding 2, Bloodborne, maybe some Wolverine just a lot more 1st party content, but were disappointed with what we got. To be fair, just knowing Saros is somehow related to Returnal has me excited.

I have hope Sony will return to form this summer and actually do a real showcase. State of Play seems to be just a tired format right now for most.

This might contribute to my stance on all this. Besides gran turismo, they never really had stuff that I was dying to get. At least stuff that wasn't a surprise. When they announced demon's souls I was stoked, and I had a really good feeling about returnal.

Looking back over the years, they did some good ones in-house, but most of the killer exclusives were moneyhats, or de-facto exclusives in the ps1 days.

Every time I've bought a ps, it was with the expectation to have a good game-player. I never expected sony to supply any particular number of games for me.

edit: not to say their games aren't good. The ones I've tried are good to great. Just aren't really high on my radar until it's time to play one.

I remember PlayStation didn't have a match for Halo in the PS2 days then they didn't have a match for Gears of War & Halo in the PS3 days but now that their 1st party games are selling 10 , 15 & 20 million copies now it's a problem with 1st party games?

So maybe focusing on the number of Halo 3 sales at that time for Xbox 360 would not really predict the sales and success of upcoming Xbox console and games? Maybe the sales and success of Halo 3 was because it was relying too much on XBox's Halo 1 & 2 and their legacy? But really X360 was soon only surviving thanks to 3rd parties sales because once MS fumbled their first party output (with the focus on Kinect), things got eventually wrong for them?

Replace Kinect with GAAS/Woke focus and it would seem that history could repeat itself for Playstation this time.

I think PlayStation got big because of their excellent third party support. Sony made sure of it since PS1.

It was definitely that. Third parties were stoked on cheap cds and ease of development. XCOM? Sure, throw it on playstation! Tony Hawk? Where else would it go! Need for Speed sequels on 3DO? Fuck that just do playstation. EA sports. Final Fantasy. Tekken. Megaman Legends. All that. It had everything you wanted to play. Didn't matter if some were on saturn or n64 or pc. PS had all of them. That's what mattered.

What hurts is missing things. SM64, oot, VF2, Sega Rally. Things like that. There weren't that many in the scheme of things, though.

I wasn't even under the impression that sony made wipeout. All I cared about was that psygnosis was kicking ass. I also didn't care that much that it was only on ps. I was glad to have one to play the game on, but that's about it.
