I think Sony is counting on Evo to make these trendy while at the same time seriously over-estimating how many people watch Evo.

If they wanted eSports to make their expensive headsets and monitors popular they should've got LoL or DOTA to use them.

SOny would go a LONG way by adding in more gaming features for their TVs. Mainly all 4 HDMI ports need to be full 48 GBps 2.1. Next years model will supposedly feature a new chipset with all 4. Things like a gamer dashboard that Samsung and LG have will go a LONG way.
Do their TVs even have VRR yet?

What are you talking about?? By best wireless headsets you mean bluetooth headphones. Bluetooth Headphones are not headsets.

Build quality and mic quality will be typical gaming trash.

True actually, I did mean headset. Still, they can clearly make very quality products if and when they want to. Not bothered myself, Arctis Pros work just fine.

Yea, as expected it's overpriced. Sony just can't help themselves. $900 for a monitor with those specs would be great - were it a 32" monitor. $900 for a 27" monitor is insulting. A comparable Asus, for example, with slightly better specs and more ports is only $650.

An ASUS with HDMI 2.1, Full array local dimming, 4K and 144hz?

$900 isn't that much. It's comparable to the Eve Spectrum 4K. How they managed to set the price for it here in Denmark ($1414) is really shitty tho'.

Yea, they're $650 on Amazon US right now.

Sorry to hear about those Danish prices - I wonder why it's so much higher where you're at?

Link?

Taxes. I got the Eve Spectrum 4K for $750 (early bird) but they don't add taxes when exporting from China.

You get rid of noise-cancellation for $230??? You refuse to add support for 1440p resolution and instead give people a 1080p monitor for more than $500???!

You are dead in the water.

Not really. Most gaming headsets under $300 do not have noise-cancellation. Sony's $299 headset does have NC.

As far as the monitor is concerned, here is it's competition:

I mean.....I agree with you and I wouldn't pay that for a 1080p monitor either, but this is targeting esports types.

So child slave labor to produce cheap shit marked up to absurd prices, and marketed towards people with questionable financial self-control?

Looking at your first couple of products, they don't seem Nike level to me😬. More like you're looking to be the Faded Glory of gaming gear:messenger_smirking:

As long as they keep focused on quality and preserving identity, then they will be unstoppable.

Haters gonna hate, but haters are cheap and they give value to the brand without even knowing because they are se essentially free advertisement dumb as they are.

Need proper stats please. Like genuine company operating margins.

There is no company selling headphones whose reported operating margins are solely restricted to the sales of headphones. Every company selling headphones sells way more than just headphones. So the parameter you're asking for would not even prove what you think it does.

Nevertheless, I can tell you from first-hand experience working in this very field that headphone manufacturing costs are but a fraction of their retail price. It's true for many peripheral devices... which is why peripherals for console manufacturers are the obvious pack-ins for console bundles and why peripherals, in addition to game sales, are where all of the margins have traditionally been in the console business.

Some of Sonys hardware is outstanding and im a very extended user of their gadgets. Lately I got a brand new Sony 1000X Series WH-1000XM4 and they have no real competitors in the space of long duration wireless headsets (only BIG CON with them is that mic only works on wireless!). Considering how good are bravias I'd def take a look at a sony monitor.

I just want an OLED monitor. I could give a shit if it is not esport ready, in fact the less gamer branding the better. I feel like an OLED monitor would sell like hotcakes since there is none.

Sounds like hoping for PSVR2 to support PC is not nonsensical. Hopefully cooperating with Steam and Meta and whatever whoever is needed to make a headset equal to a tv-set and not an unnecessary walled garden.

Until they figure out burn in as tempting as an OLED monitor would be I wouldn't switch because my PC task bars are on all the time and I would ruin an OLED monitor in no time

Plus, and this is just my opinion, OLEDs still do not get bright enough for me and that goes back to the first problem

Until that tech gets better for my gaming I am sticking with my LGs and my main PC gaming display is the Acer Predator X35

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
Wonder if we will get LE monitors with game releases like Asus did recently with anime. God of war 2 theme monitor....

You tooty-fruity Bitch, that fucking headset is 100. It works perfectly with PS5 with no lag and automatically switch audio from TV Speaker. No hiccups and no delays and is comfortable and the audio quality is decent. It is quiet ugly.

you ain't motherfucking getting shit for 100 by Razor.

Come back with better post with some content to shit on SONY.

It costs $100 but the earcups will melt and probably break in the middle or near the earcups just like all the other overpriced PS branded garbage Sony sells.

You would be better off just buying the XM4 and using the headphone jack.

Burn in hasn't really been a problem with OLED for a long time. The only reason why you do not see OLED monitors is because LG doesn't make such small panels.

The industry's obsession with esports is so weird. I get that the holy grail for corporations is to be able to sell t-shirts and energy drinks where the profit margin is sky high, but the reality is that no one watches esports and the whole thing is antithetical to what gaming is about. Gaming is an INTERACTIVE medium. You're not supposed to watch it passively. Games are intentionally designed to be accessible to a lot of people as opposed to physical sports where you actually have to have relatively rare physical attributes to excel at a high level. Blizzard's obsession with catering to esports weirdos basically killed World of Warcraft. Street Fighter hasn't been interesting in decades due to catering to that nonsense.

Burn in is actually a massive indirect problem because the mitigation strategies they're forced to use make their displays unusable as desktop PC monitors. Constant pixel shifting would drive me insane. ABL is incredibly irritating and would make any art related productivity work unrealistic. Oh yeah, I want to post on NeoGAF on a monitor that's constantly changing the brightness of its gray background. Wouldn't drive me mad at all.

If you have a PC connected to a normal computer monitor and an LG OLED as a secondary used just for gaming, it's fine, but they just aren't desktop PC monitors. Even if you could somehow ignore all the horrible burn in mitigation problems, you still have the weird RWBG pixel structure that makes fonts look like junk.

There isn't going to be a true PC friendly self emissive display until we finally get something like MicroLED.

Honestly, I'm pretty irritated with the display manufacturing industry. They sell what I would call basically lab prototypes and pass them off as consumer products. Many of them are NOT ready for prime time.

Good luck. The reason there's no single company that does all sorts of PC peripherals at the highers level is because it's way too much to swallow, you can either specialize and be great at few things, or mediocre at everything, and who better than Sony themselves who went through huge restructuring years go and closed/sold all their weakest divisions to focus on the strongest ones should know a thing or two about it... Plus, pushing the PS5's white-blue theme is a no-go for most PC gamers out there, black paint with RGB LEDs is the way to go if you want to satisfy the majority of the market.

Sony (the not-PlayStation part) makes very good regular headphones, and these are not PlayStation headsets, so I don't see why they would necessarily be garbage.
I already gave you the answer. Cheap build quality and shitty mic quality.

Just because you make good headphones doesn't mean you make good gaming headsets.

Alright, that's a shame then, I thought maybe these would be the headset versions of their great wireless headphones.

What this exec says makes sense.

I know they want to differientiate this brand to make clear it's for PC players and not for PS, but I'd have used the PS brand. Something like PlayStation inZone, PlayStation eSports, PlayStation proGaming, PlayStation pcGaming or stuff like that.
