Seriously. I was waiting for them to say "Based upon the international sensation Macross Plus" -- I thought it was supposed to be a "reimagined" and westernized remake (like the Italian Job, Ocean's 11, etc.)
M+ rip off is one thing, but how's a damn AI jet a threat to national security when the damn thing's gonna run out of fuel in matter of few hours? If this thing is supposed to be nuclear powered or some BS, NO SALE! :lol

I used to work for that company. What I'll do is organiza viewings of Macross Plus for large-screen movie nights, perhaps on a projector in the park, at University.
All its ideas and images are almost an exact replia from Macross Plus!
Its story contains:
1)A non-human A.I. fighter(Ghost X-9?) that's being sent to the U.S. Navy, for testing and training.
2)This A.I. program learns how to fight, and three US.Navy ACE pilots are chosen to take this mission....
3)A white Fighter pilot(ISAMU?), white woman(Myung?), and black fighter pilot(Guld?), who have a history together and are both trying to impress the girl.
4)This A.I. program is very likely chosen to become the white pilot's wingman(hello? Sharon Apple?).
5)Whilst in the middle of this training mission, the A.I. program begins to develop a mind of its own and starts to lose control!
6)And finally, the training team gets an order to destroy this A.I. controlled fighter.
Maybe it's because you guys aren't die hard fans like I am, but THIS IS MACROSS PLUS PRETTY MUCH IN ALL ITS GLORY...exploited and turned into some cheeseball Hollywood flick.
Oh and there are NO similarities to either Ace Combat, Yukikaze, Deal of the Century, Firefox, or Area 88, other than them having military jets in them! This is Macross Plus more than anything else!
Oh and I got this news from a reliable source today that proves to be the straw that breaks the camel's back......

. I'm probably in the minority, but I think the flying upside down part is the biggest rip off hint. I mean there are a lot more of them, but that just stuck out for me. Pity Sony can't be sued for this bullshit.

I don't know a thing about Macross Plus, but that movie doesn't look very good. It looks expensive, though. Either that, or every single visual effects shot is in the trailer.
Even if the masses don't line up for it in the US, it'll make a zillion dollars on the international market.
