People will want to blame Trump for this but how come no has ever asked: why are we supporting Communist China?
Imagine if all our TV's, Cars, Clothes etc had been made in the Soviet Union during the Cold War. There would be outrage. Yet after all these years, why did we give Communist China a pass?
Communist China is just as terrible when it comes to gross human rights violations yet we continue to send all our jobs and products over there.
Rather than support a totalitarian dictatorship, why doesn't Sony make Playstations in Japan? If they still care about their heritage, wouldn't it be a win? Or maybe moving their headquarters to California probably messed up their brains and all they care about is making money.
Otherwise, China is going to keep getting rich, we lose all our jobs, and a Communist state will influence global policy. Hope yall like the great leap forward coming to your doorstep.
Capitalism can exist without turning a state into a genocidal dictatorship. That's what Japan, Taiwan or South Korea represent. The problem isn't necessarily China's "communisim", its the West's "capitalism" that is at issue here.
Why not just release games on pc, I don’t want to buy any consoles just for some extra games anymore. Same goes for Microsoft and Nintendo.
If the west pulled all 'support' from China, the west would stop being capitalist.Capitalism can exist without turning a state into a genocidal dictatorship. That's what Japan, Taiwan or South Korea represent.
Communism always leads to one party rule and citizens being turned into slaves.
If the West pulled all support from China, the Communists wouldn't suddenly have a change of heart.

No, the West would still have a capitalist system without China. If the west pulled all 'support' from China, the west would stop being capitalist.
that's not good...would be good. 600 dollars for a great console is better than 400 for a shitty one. get a job.
There's also the fact that China is the biggest supplier of rare earth minerals. It's like oil in the middle east, You know shouldn't but you don't have a choice. It's simple. China offers the ability to provide goods at a price much cheaper than what "made in the US" could provide. People want things as cheaply as possible. That's what it boils down to. The second those goods come back to the US is the second the price of those good skyrocket and then people stop buying.
At the end of the day, few people care about the human rights violations of China.
As I mentioned earlier, it may well go this way since their trade deal with the EU.As a certain Playstation creator once said : If you really want it you can get a second job as well
But since Sony is a Japanese company. Why don't they just manufacture in Japan.

Can't wait for the PS44. Going to be powerful beyond imaginationYep.
Rich people buy diamonds no matter if they are blood diamonds , much less care about human rights if they can get a cheap XBONE, PS44 or a mobil phone.

China was a pariah state up until the end of the Cold War. It's actually terrifying how almost every nation shakes hands with them when this was the same country that threatened nuclear war with Russia and India. There's also the fact that China is the biggest supplier of rare earth minerals. It's like oil in the middle east, You know shouldn't but you don't have a choice.
Because Communism fucking sucks and it's part of Communist doctrine to make the entire world be just like them. Why should we care that China is Communist? They make products for low prices. It's all we (corporations and customers) care about. The 1980s wants it fake Red Scare back.

We definitely had a choice up until the 1990s, but greed took over vs actually doing the right thing.
Because Communism fucking sucks and it's part of Communist doctrine to make the entire world be just like them.
You may hate the Red Scare but guess what? They were right.
Millions of lives were destroyed every time a government adopted Communism, and now the world is happy is to give China all their money because they value cheap plastic toys over freedom and prosperity.
Oh look at that. 65 MILLION KILLED IN CHINA ALONE.
And the Communist plan for the fate of the earth.
Gradually. And so am I supposed to give up my fine living because China is communist?
How about I let you know right now?mckmas8808 said:You say they want world domination, but I haven't seen that yet. Let me know when they try to make me a communist, then I'll care.
But sure, supporting Communist China is worth it right just so you can get your cheap Playstations?
Alright, don't say nobody warned you then.Yeah....pretty much. I hate to be so quick about it, but.......yeah.
They haven't really been communists since 1978 though... Again, this is about IP theft, not their political ideology.China was a pariah state up until the end of the Cold War. So why are they targeting anti-communists then? They've also been producing propaganda that promotes communism (i.e the Karl Marx animation) under a government beaurau called Communist Youth League. They haven't really been communists since 1978 though... Again, this is about IP theft, not their political ideology.
Their biggest trading partner is South Korea, whom a lot of people would describe at hyper capitalists. they aren't trying to spread communism to other countries. You really can't be considered communists with how they have embraced free market since the late 70's. From like 1949- to the late 70's they absolutely were communists and many people suffered and died.So why are they targeting anti-communists then? They've also been producing propaganda that promotes communism (i.e the Karl Marx animation) under a government beaurau called Communist Youth League.
They are communists or highly sympathetic to the communist agenda.
Manufacturing will simply shift elsewhere. Apple, Nintendo, Microsoft, and even Sony are already doing so.
This is known as "being opportunistic", because if they reveal the system and people boo the price, Sony can shrug and say "well we told you it would happen because tradewars", when in reality they've had more than enough time to shift production elsewhere without affecting the cost in any significant way.
Completely irrelevant. Hell, the U.S did trade with the Soviet Union all throughout its existence. The USSR and USA still were on complete opposites.Their biggest trading partner is South Korea,
But they are. They are ruled by the Communist Party. They are sympathetic to communist causes and fight against those oppose it.Tygeezy said:You really can't be considered communists .
People are still suffering/dying.Tygeezy said:From like 1949- to the late 70's they absolutely were communists and many people suffered and died.
But it's the defining characteristic. Anything that seizes power from Communists from becoming a global threat is a positive in my eyes.Tygeezy said:I think you are right that it isn't a big deal that Sony and others have to get their parts from different countries. It just isn't about them being communists, and I don't see why you are harping on this so hard.
You picked a very odd hill to die on my friend. People aren't dying in mass by starvation in China like they were when they were actual communists.Completely irrelevant. Hell, the U.S did trade with the Soviet Union all throughout its existence. The USSR and USA still were on complete opposites.

They venerate or still idolize Chairman Mao.
In China, Chairman Mao still bigger than Jesus

Starvation is not the only way Communists kill people. You picked a very odd hill to die on my friend. People aren't dying in mass by starvation in China like they were when they were actual communists.
The current Chinese administration is not slaughtering it's own citizens.Starvation is not the only way Communists kill people.
The USSR also stopped having famines after the 1950s, the government was still just as bit brutal and repressive.
The current Chinese administration is not slaughtering it's own citizens.
LONDON — The organs of members of marginalized groups detained in Chinese prison camps are being forcefully harvested — sometimes when patients are still alive, an international tribunal sitting in London has concluded.
Some of the more than 1.5 million detainees in Chinese prison camps are being killed for their organs to serve a booming transplant trade that is worth some $1 billion a year, concluded the China Tribunal, an independent body tasked with investigating organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience in the authoritarian state.
“Forced organ harvesting has been committed for years throughout China on a significant scale,” the tribunal concluded in its final judgment Monday. The practice is “of unmatched wickedness — on a death for death basis — with the killings by mass crimes committed in the last century,” it added.
Harvesting Organs from executed prisoners is not the same as slaughtering it's own citizens in mass.China forcefully harvests organs from detainees, tribunal concludes

When you can be detained for political dissent and disallowed religious beliefs...Harvesting Organs from executed prisoners is not the same as slaughtering it's own citizens in mass.
Those aren't executable offenses. I think we are getting way off course here. The reason for the trade war is because of IP theft, but OP is going on about how communism is somehow to blame, which isn't true. When you can be detained for political dissent and disallowed religious beliefs...
What's the difference?
Because we all know how fair the Communist Chinese justice system is right? It's not like the Communists don't mass detain people at will?Harvesting Organs from executed prisoners is not the same as slaughtering it's own citizens in mass.
Then you aren't educated on the situation in China. Those aren't executable offenses.
Been to China, and know somebody that has served prison time in China. I know plenty about China. Then you aren't educated on the situation in China.
Sorry to spoil your day with some disturbing facts...
Anecdotal personal experience does not erase facts, as hard as that may be to accept for a tourist.Been to China, and know somebody that has served prison time in China. I know plenty about China.
These are allegations, not facts. Again this is way off topic. We agree that IP theft is the reason and not communism correct?Anecdotal personal experience does not erase facts, as hard as that may be to accept for a tourist.
Sorry to make you uncomfortable. These are allegations, not facts. Again this is way off topic. We agree that IP theft is the reason and not communism correct?
So IP theft, yeah?Sorry to make you uncomfortable.
That has nothing to do with the statement of yours I replied to. If you don't want to have that conversation anymore, fine with me. I'm not involved in your conversation about IP theft and I'd appreciate not being leveraged to that end. Thanks. So IP theft, yeah?

It does feel manipulative, yes, especially when you dodge after being confronted for your statements then try to drag me into unrelated arguments.Does it make you uncomfortable?
Look, I think you are a great poster, but you're the one that saw yourself into our dispute. Having a disagreement is one thing, but the tone you chose was combative, and I found it rude that because of a disagreement you say i'm not educated on China because of allegations being misrepresented as facts. They could very well be true, but it hasn't been proven. And that certainly doesn't make me uneducated on China. I'm well aware of the allegations. I'm very familiar with Falun Gong and how it's advertised in the US as the performance "Shen Yun." as well as its history in China. It does feel manipulative, yes, especially when you dodge after being confronted for your statements then try to drag me into unrelated arguments.
