Sony WWS output thus far.

Sony WWS has been shockingly mediocre so far this gen with regards to AAA titles.

Knack?
KZ: SF?
Drive Club?
Order 1886? (so much negativity around this one, will likely review poorly)

The only one that scored well was I:SS, but even that paled in comparison to other
Infamous games. Then we have TLoU:R, but that's a last gen port.

Personally, Sony so far has become synonymous with the "style over substance" saying,
like we get it: the PS4 is capable of great graphics, but it seems to come at the expense
of compelling/substantial gameplay!

Complete props to Nintendo and MS for putting out worthwhile titles this year which
will no doubt succeed critically and commercially

Update:

I've noticed several posts claiming I have an agenda or am a shill of sorts, none of which
are true. Check it out:

Short of owning actual stocks, I'm about as balls deep into Sony as I can be.

As such, their WWS AAA output has been rather mediocre this gen, a criticism I feel quite
confident in leveling against them, especially when their main competitors have
released a number of great titles this year :/

DC's tepid critical performance compelled me to make this thread. I will likely
voice similar concerns if The Order under performs as well.

Don't count out Bloodborne; from what I've played, the game is fantastic. (or does that one has nothing to do with WWS?)

What did you not like about Knack and Killzone?

What have you played of Driveclub and Order 1886 that makes you say the gameplay is mediocre?

I would like to think consumer reaction to these games hold some weight too surely. Basing the success of a game purely on reviews is just a dumb way to go about things. A reviewer at the end of the day is still a single individual and metacritic is such a flawed system to begin with.

You are also conveniently glossing over games like infamous and Rezogun and not also focusing on how games like Forza 5 scored... >_> Agenda much?

Yeah, I don't know what happened

Maybe that extra year on the Ps3 when they had some of their teams doing stuff like god of War Ascension and the likes.

Though, MS isn't doing much better

Umm, yeah, you are so totally right OP. Screw Sony... they should publically apologize for their pathetic attempts at making video games and bow down to the masters around them at MS and Nin.

It's still early, calm down. Yoshida has already stated that every studio is working on a PS4 title. The games will come.

That's the only game I have hope for, to be honest, but even that is made through
From Software. Studio Japan haven't put out anything compelling by themselves in some
time.

Bloodborne will be the first ps4 exclusive actually worth buying imo. Knack is bad, kz is mediocre, i:ss was incredibly dissapointing and very limited in scope, and now dc is sitting at a 74 on metacritic.

We're a year in, 2 of those are launch titles, people always shovel on Killzone, and one is unreleased.

So...Driveclub was apparently disappointing. I'll judge it when I get the PS+ version, but I don't think there's much of anything to worry about. The only established IP of those is Killzone, the aforementioned game everyone loves to hate anymore. LBP is looking great, Sony's got tons of great indies (exclusive and otherwise), best multiplats, plenty of stuff to play while waiting for SSM and Naughty Dog to gear up.

Was the last paragraph really necessary?

Yeah this thread will go over well.

Also, Killzone is a great game, I really can't see why people dislike it. I've platinumed it. Haven't played the others OP mentioned so I can't comment but The Order isn't even out yet. Infamous was great, Resogun was fantastic. TLoU remastered - Incredible.

I really liked most games from Sony so far.
even Knack
This seems like its really subjective and a lot based on your own feelings.
I hope they stay with their games and dont start to make 50 open world games just because its "the" genre right now. Sony always had a lot of diversity and reviews were often kind of shitty but most games i really really enjoy.

lol you got to be kidding me.

Yeah, their output currently is pretty unappealing to me. Mostly.

If it wasn't for Bloodborne I still wouldn't consider a PS4.

The Order 1886 looks nice though. Might get that one aswell. No idea what people are projecting into this game that it receives so much negativity.

So far it's been a series of misses, granted with a nice coat of paint. I've had a PS4 since day 1, and on the exclusive front it's been seriously disappointing. Not going to sugar coat it. If Bloodborne flops i'm going PC.

Man you are having a ball today! Those Driveclub reviews must have been like Christmas for you. Better get the digs in while you can hey?
Don't worry. I still laugh myself silly when I look at Ryse's metacritic score.

Forza Motorsport 5 also dropped from a 81 metacritic average to a 79 in the last month... Somehow. So on the bright side, DriveClub is on par with my favorite Racing Simulator. :)

You're not that good at your MS PR job either

Heyoooo
Well it's a good thing I'm not good at my non-existent job. Now I don't have to worry about getting a pay raise.
