Sony's E3 2014 - What are we all expecting?

One thing I hope we get to see is what Allan Becker has managed to do with Sony Japan since he took over. Specifically on the console side of things. We've seen what he's been up to with portables. Freedom Wars, Soul Sacrifice, Oreshika 2, Gravity Rush 2 etc. But I think most people have been looking forward to what he does with console development since that's what was slumping for them last gen.

Same thing happened to Killzone shadow fall which runs on the KZ2/3 engine. It is very easy to notice the problems with the visuals while playing the game

The Order 1886
+Running on a brand new engine with 5 years of R&D
+Soft body physics
+developed from the ground up for next gen specs

Uncharted
-Using the same Uncharted/TLOU engine
-Legacy code might not translate as well on PS4

You sure about that? The Dark Sorceror tech demo was running on an engine based on the Beyond tech and it looked more impressive than the Order. This is ND we are talking about, it will look at lest as impressive as the Order. The last thing we need to worry about is visuals on an ND game.

Also, KZ looked great. I am not sure how it can be faulted on a visual tip as a launch game.

If the response was lukewarm it would be because of the absolute ass way they handled it. All I wanted was 3-5 minutes of uninterrupted gameplay in 1080p. That's all I needed--instead we got a bunch of randoms talking over each other.
 
I expect quite a few bombs to be dropped. I predict the following:

- The Last Guardian (to appear in some form, and yes I'm being serious)
- God of War (re-branding - similar to what has been done with inFamous and Killzone)
- Quantic dreams next project
- Project Beast
- The Order
- Uncharted 4
- The Last of Us - Remastered
- Deep down
- Third party games i.e. Destiny, MGSV, AC Unity, FFXV
- Project Morpheus
- Driveclub
- PlayStation Now
- Upcoming key features (from FW, or entertainment services / apps)
- Sales update
- Indies galore! Some big up-and-comers as exclusive i.e. No Man's Sky. Plus showing off existing i.e. Rime.
- Very little coverage on Vita :(

I'd love to see something more in-line with that crazy wishlist that has been floating around!

I think it will be a great show this year, and I'm a bit pissed that I will not be able to watch it this year since I'm on holiday. I'll have so much to catch up on once I'm back!

I agree but let's see if they can show a live gameplay demo that impresses us. I will wait and see.

I think will. The concept is good, the visuals are great, and the setting seems pretty intriguing. Hopefuly we get to grips with the grandeur of London though,
 
This e3 will be a disappointment for Sony!! Last years was epic and will be hard to top. Do we as consumers even want Morpheus? Uncharted ps4 won't save the show. I'm scared about the game since everyone left naughty dog. They need a 2015 bomb shell and I'm not sure what that will be for myself yet.

Surprises? They better have something more than 3rd party games we can play on next gen systems (yay for 1 hour exclusive I don't really give a shite). Those surprises should all be showing IMO for Sony to have a great E3, though I'm keeping my hopes down and getting ready to be underwhelmed if it happens.
 
Sony needs a kiler new IP maybe 2 of them to win the show! All the good third party games will be at Microsoft presser. Star Wars battlefront, call of duty, new mass effect

Their E3 last year was great in terms of the impact they had due to the message that they were sending out, but it won't be hard to top as far as games go. They only unveiled one new internal game last year (The Order). FFXV and KH3 were the biggest things to come out of their conference last year from a games standpoint.

Don't count on it. Especially with how well the PS4 is selling, Sony is sure to grab a number of big reveals. My guess is the first footage of Batman AK, Assassins Creed Unity and more on Destiny as well as potentially a 3rd party exclusive reveal (Rockstar).

Because it's always been like that. Seriously, watch the last 5 MS press conferences and compare it to the last 5 Sony press conferences. You'll be shocked to find that MS had a lot more multiplatform games shown than Sony. I expect the same with this year's conference.

Last year wasn't epic at all in terms of games. The only new title that really wowed me was The Order.

That's because MS was living off of 3rd party games. Sony has more studios so they had more 1st party stuff that was shown at the conference instead of 3rd party stuff.

I seem to recall plenty of third party titles at Sony's last year.

Sony debuted FFXV, KH3, Mad Max and the first gameplay of Destiny last year. And that was before they really had any momentum behind the console.

I think those are safe bets. AW will obviously be shown there since MS has co-marketing for it again. The other two are by EA and it's as clear as day to anyone that they're favoring MS this gen, so it wouldn't surprise me if Battlefront and ME showed up there. I know EA claims that they aren't favoring MS and that they have partnerships with Sony in the works that'll disprove that, but they've yet to do anything to indicate otherwise in terms of actions.
 
They better show lots of gameplay. MS will show off Sunset Overdrive (which already looks fucking amazing) and Quantum Break (which will be amazing too), so they better not disappoint in that front.

And I hope for significant third party announcements, not just 60 minutes of exclusive gameplay.

It wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft do get the scoop on certain third party showings this year, it wouldn't be the first time they've gone in after it made a splash at Sony's conference the previous year. Got a feeling they'll get FFXV and KH3 coverage.

I think they may have Resident Evil 7, Tomb Raider 2, Fallout 4. They'll either reveal those or the announcements will happen just prior and they'll have the first trailers and perhaps exclusive DLC. Well Fallout 4 is 50/50 but Resident Evil and TR have both featured heavily before with exclusive features so I wouldn't be shocked to see those.

FWIW word on the street is Sony will have plenty of third party presence to show off of their own.

Likely everything shiny from Ubisoft will be either on their show or Sony's. I can see another "please be excited" comeback by SquareEnix, Batman is also likely to be unveiled at Sony's conference and obviously Destiny. So anything from 4-6 big AAA games confirmed there.

Other than that, in terms of 50/50 games, MGSV or anything Rockstar. They will do great in terms of 3rd parties and indies at E3. I just hope they show up in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd party games they and companies they've funded have something to show.
 
Main things i want are FFXV release date (2015 would be nice...) and Last Guardian PS4.

I would get super hyped for any new IP from Sony's first party as well.

MGSV is a wildcard. The PS4/PS3 sales of GZ shows that the userbase is still with Sony platforms. I could see Konami making some deal where TPP is shown at Sony's conference along with debuting footage of the current gen PES. That'd be a good way of giving that series some exposure.
 
TBH I don't think I would expect FF15/KH3 at all. I knew it would be there last year long before this time and this year I have heard absolutely nothing.

I want to see FF15. I really wonder what the game looks like on PS4. That target render video they showed last e3 had some interesting things going on. I wonder how it will run and look on PS4.
 
Honestly... I'll be happy with Triad Wars from United Front Games via Square Enix and FFXIV related stuff. No FFXV wouldn't be all that surprisingly. At least those two games are more realistic. Even Bravely Second would be cool too.

Uncharted wasn't a benchmark on PS3. It looked ugly, had frame rate problems and screen tearing

For it's time it was the best looking console game. Texture detail, colour palette, lighting ect all top of it's class. The only other game that came close was Gears.

Uncharted 2 was far and away the best looking game of it's time. In fact only the God of War games looked better than the Uncharted series for my money.

Really? I always imagined MS may snap up the game for their show this year, or at the least it would return with a trailer at Sony's Conference again. Didn't Square mention they would be sharing more info on the game soon? This was a month or two ago now. Assumed they meant E3.
