Sony's E3 2014 - What are we all expecting?

Does ND even want to make Crash? They moved on a long time ago for a reason.

Besides, I think putting your premier studio on Crash Bandicoot isn't the wisest idea. Sony relies on ND for mature games.

I don't know if ND's talents even reside with the type of game Crash is anymore.

They're barely involved in the Order, it's almost entirely RAD. Rapture looks like a pretty small game compared to AAA games, even moreso with Hohokum and whatever GiantSparrow will be making. I'm expecting a rebooted God of War CGI trailer with Kratos or another character in another mythology.

This will keep happening...
There it is again. I will ask this again...
...and I will keep asking...
Tell me this, when was the last time Naughty Dog or for that matter Sony first party did CG trailers?

That podcast is some other shit...

These people get paid to talk like this?

I mean, I don't disagree that a lot of the PS4 software is underwhelming, but damn I wouldn't use the same tone and language to say it that these supposed "professionals" are. It's like all of these guys are trying to get community manager positions @ Microsoft or some shit.

And I just heard them mention Forza Horizon 2. Does anybody in their right mind think that game will come anywhere close to matching Drive Club, visually? If you compare Forza 5 and Drive Club, DC looks like it's from a generation ahead of Forza 5. The fidelity gap is fucking massive!

3) When Cerny came on stage at PlayStation Meeting 2013, Crash Bandicoot music was playing: http://youtu.be/skOhuGu69Ws?t=11m20s (I realize he's known for the game, but still, 'twas there!)

Yeah, I agree, sure it's Cerny but it feels like that was the first time they acknowledged that music since their last Crash game too. I mean it could have just been for Cerny + nostalgia factor with launching a system but it's certainly curious.

So, let's do a bit of topic-shifting. There are rumors that Uncharted's a lot further along in development than anyone thinks--that it's actually been in development for three years or so.

Do you guys think this will play like the last three Uncharted, or will it be less chapter-focused and more of an explorable overworld?

And, second question. What would you think of Sony's E3 if they revealed The Order was scheduled for August, while Uncharted 4 was scheduled for December?

I'm looking back at some of the studios who worked heavily with Sony. So does anyone have any idea of what Tarsier Studios is doing now? I'm not sure if Sanzaru Games would be working on anything since they're doing the 3DS version of Sonic Boom.

I forgot about this, but Natsume Inc will be announcing a Sony or Nintendo game next week.

Medabots AX was SOOOOO good.

Its funny everybody in the american press is starting the hole Playstation dosen't have any games thing again, I just don't understand there undying love and allegiance to the xbox brand
Is this really true or are you saying it for dramatic impact? I rarely read the press anymore but it sounds too outlandish *all* or even a major chunk of them would be saying stuff like that, because there's zero evidence to support it. Z. Roh.

Yeah, I think we were mainly talking about their external or incubation projects, the things they're 'barely involved' with.

Because Barlog's game is miles off, like still 2 years.

Hope it's a (or some) new game, but i think it's just the english release date of Harvest Moon: Connect to a New World

And, second question. What would you think of Sony's E3 if they revealed The Order was scheduled for August, while Uncharted 4 was scheduled for December?

I doubt it. I would explode if it was true and would be hyped for it BUT realistically I only expect The Order and Driveclub in terms of first party for this year, which is pretty meh.

One of the Naught Dog guys (might have been one of their CEO) acknowledged that platforming in Uncharted has to change with their next game. Uncharted style of "no real danger" platforming has been a problem with many gamers and even Uncharted fans. I think this is one area everyone will be surprised by Uncharted.

I think your second question is bonkers, because it will never happen.

Yeah, Tarsier are probably working on something new!

Here's something from Tarsier just after the PS4 launch (and just after Mattias Nygren split the company, taking control of the second smaller studio they had).

Great interview, he teases about a project at the end.

It's a large majority of the gaming press in the United States. They seemed to have an agenda to cover for Microsoft last year and make excuses for them. Also downplay Sony. It was really embarassing for the majority of last year. Shit, Keighley didn't do one video where he didn't mention Titanfall and how amazing it was and Sessler was pretty much right there always defending them.

I think that game is further away than people think. The recent happenings at the studio must have had an impact on development, despite what they said officially regarding the situation. Definitely not coming this year.

Even in a hypothetical situation where both games are ready in the same year, you wouldn't put two story driven third person action games so close together like that.

So would these Rebel FM guys actually know this far ahead that Sony has "no games in the pipeline" and Microsoft has all of these games, aside from the stuff we already know about that's confirmed?

I mean, they DO work in the industry, and they sound so convinced that Sony is going to underwhelm at E3 and Microsoft is going to have a software orgy live and onstage. I really can't imagine Sony isn't going to have a bunch of exclusive, NOT indie, AAA (or close) PS4 titles to announce after they've had such a great start to this generation.

Unless Uncharted PS4 is more of departure than we've previously suspected. Linear shooter to open-world puzzle adventure?

EDIT: That was actually more of an aside, than me expecting Uncharted this year. I don't, for the record. I hope it's not a linear shooter again.

They don't know much of anything to be honest. These are the same people that said Sony would have the same DRM as microsoft.

I think they are privy to rumors just like everyone else is.

No.

From what I saw from SONY announcements in the last couple years, if they are silent about something like they do now with E3 this mean they have a lot of megatons. I'm calling it and you gonna see ;)

Isn't that the podcast that Arthus Gies is on? If so then that's all you need to know.

It was really just the clown Gies saying that nonsense. And he doesn't know anymore than the rest of us.

I think the opposite, actually. Literally everyone thinks that work on the title has barely started, and that those people leaving has set the game back almost to the start point. If you asked GAF I think most people would say it's not coming out until late 2015, or even holiday 2015.

As far as placement. August and December seem close together, but they really aren't. Fiscally, August is like the end of Q2 and December is the end of Q3. And in between those are a ton of other games of varying genres.

Aside from the occasional random tweet, anyone who really knows anything isn't talking.

Giess is always convinced it will go his way

sadly for him it has never happened yet

I want a new rock band game

A CBOAT equivalent for Sony would be much appreciated right about now.
Are there any Sony leakers? And Japanese game leakers?

Demonite and GopherD would be the people we want to see post. Doubt they'll be posting this early. I expect to see them start posting the week of the 26th. 2 weeks till E3. Everyone will try to bring the hype.

May Sony impress!

Demonite usually drops by on the final 10 days to give us a gif countdown and the idea is that the games listed may or may not show up.

I can't see Parappa or MidiEvil being more likely than Crash. We probably won't see any of those franchises at all.
They're more likely than Crash because Sony still owns those IPs.

These would be nothing but fan-service games anyway and I don't see Sony going that route, not after PS All-Stars.

Honestly I'm happy there are no big leaks,...for anybody. It'll give me even more joy out of watching the coverage and I can be genuinely shocked. Tho we already pretty much know about Project Beast :S

They better do an UmJammer sequel. That game is still amazing and they could do so much w/ the art style still and online multiplayer. I'd love for them to make one focused more on electronic music but almost all of the songs I like to listen to don't have lyrics or only have a chorus.

While I disagree that there is zero chance of a Crash game, I can get behind Parappa and MediEvil being more likely.
Am I missing something? Were hints recently dropped for those two? If Sony secretly reacquired Crash, a reboot announcement is coming pretty soon.

I'd really like to see some information PlayStation 4 getting PS1 & PS2 Emulation and news that it also uses this patent to add Trophies to the old games. Just started playing through the Crash Bandicoot games and it would be great to have stuff like that available to play with proper emulation.

Sony have already proven this generation that there is a potential market for this stuff so if the quality of the emulation is there and that patent adds trophies to the games although they aren't getting a proper remaster the costs are so much lower doing it this way.

I'd certainly be onboard straight away and willing to pay if they did a good enough job of it.

We already got e biggest leak : project beast

Even without CBOAT, I have a hard time seeing how sony can have anything bigger than that. Feel sorry for them. Probably took the biggest thing away.

Especially a leak from japan studios. That never happens

There were rumors about a Sony-From collaboration from time immemorial. So unless the leak was some super duper video (remember The Last Guardian), it does not make a dent in their possible announcement. In fact, it got people even more excited...
It would be heartbreaking to many if Sony decided to keep the title under wraps till TGS. Blood would be spilled!

I am pretty disappointed someone leaked that. Fuck that person.

Regarding the whole Crash Bandicoot thing there were indication that Activision removed all Crash related stuff from their site some months back.
Sony teasing/posting various image of Crash, Arrow Up, SCE logo and ND 30 year anniversary.

All those things combined kinda says it's gonna happen and why not?
PS4 needs games for younger audience as well variety has always been their strongest point. TLOU:R didn't take that much time so they pretty much got 1 team making UC, but we all know ND is larger than that.

Maybe wishful thinking or over-thinking, we'll see in 3 weeks though.
I'd love for a Crash reboot the orginal game was mind blowing to me at the time.
