Sony's Gamescom Media Briefing On "Release Plans for PlayStation 4"

I am so ready whenever PS4 comes out the earlier the better .
Only a short while more until Gamescom and i getting hype.
PS4 and loads of good PS3 games to come great time to be a PS owner .

Playstation Saudi Arabia posted youtube video titling 'Ready for October' and video contains nothing but PS4 related other than Puppeteer which is of course PS3. It is interesting given the speculation for PS4 being launch in October.

I say we all keep our expectations in check. I'm no insider or anything but there have been cases where rumors are positive and it turns out to be false. I rather be surprised at a Oct release than be disappointed if it was a November one.

The last few posts from FamousMortimer posts have killed my hype-boner.

The conference being light on new stuff plus a 2014 of a new Uncharted and a TLoU up port are seriously underwhelming. Thank the gods for 3rd parties.

If famousmortimer is right, then Sony is doing everything right...except for games, lol.
Even if they think they'll sell out for the holidays most of the time, they should show that they have at least some bigger games in development, so the people won't see the XB1 as a good alternative and buy it instead.
The reasons why Sony won the E3 are almost all gone and the games wasn't one of them (MS was in fact much better, because they showed a lot of stuff from late next year).
If MS again has a better showing on gamescom, Sony will lose more and more from the really strong momentum they had, since games is what people buy consoles for.

They have to show a strong lineup before launch, so the people will wait to get a PS4 even when it's sold out and don't look too much on the alternatives.

The goal should be to get a decent enough difference in hardware base between PS4 and XB1 as fast as possible. For that you have to be acting and not hold everything back for reacting.

Microsoft isn't going to livestream their gamescom events, so Sony will win Gamescom by default.

this is nothing new. For years we hype ourselves up for TGS and Gamescom with the wait for xxxx game to only be disappointed. should be used to it by now

Gamescom has generally had a very good show over the years.

TGS, sure, generally a disappointment...I think that's a reflection of Japanese AAA development more than anything.

Last year we got Tearaway, Puppeteer, and Rain...pretty awesome show if you ask me.

Yeah gamescom isn't usually big on announcements, it usually just cements the fall/winter. Though with new consoles we all expected more.

And verendus might be right! I may be wrong.

Why does Sony not having many compelling titles at launch appear as such a negative? PS1 didn't, same for PS2 and PS3 to an extent. PSP built itself upon a couple first party titles and a slew of sports games. Vita was really the only one with such an abundance of games at launch.

Any rumor about whether MLB 14: The Show will be on PS4 next year? I assume yes, but one never knows.

"MLB: The Show" is an annual franchise, so there's no reason Sony San Diego won't put out the next 1 on PS4 because they'll have had plenty of time to use a PS4 devkit.

Infact, when we discuss the list of 20 internally-developed exclusives coming to PS4 in the 1st year, "MLB 14: The Show" should be on the list by default.

I've wondered the same thing. Really PS4 is set to have the best launch of any Sony console by far. The other 3 consoles had shit even including third party games.

Sony will bring the games over time like they always do. It's Xbox that should be getting all the questions and doubt. They've only had 9 total retail non-kinect exclusives in the past 4 years.

Honestly the main thing I want is the date and UI demonstrations. Sounding more and more like I'll be a happy man given the rumors. Anything else is just icing on the cake for me.

I know some of those new to Sony this gen will be concerned about a lack of games, but I'm not concerned in the slightest after the past 5 years with my PS3.

because its different this go around. They are launching a console within weeks of a competitor that has a very good launch line up. So its going to get compared,

I'm fine with Sony's launch offerings considering there're also PSN games, F2P games, and third-party games to play. I don't want to start off the new gen with a backlog. I'd only be worried if there was a drought of games like on the WiiU.

Agree. In addition, it makes perfect sense to assume that Microsoft gave all it got to remedy the negative reactions it got after the XB1 reveal. They wanted to show that they are still serious about games. Their E3 show was a staccato of game after game after game.

Don't want to come off as a Sony fanboy, but how is the Xbox One launch lineup any better than Sony's? It's the same third party games with a few exclusives, including a racer that has been run into the ground for the past few years. The big game that is being pushed, Titanfall, isn't even coming out until next year.

Sony is making the better play. Any one with a bit of foresight should be able to see that. InFamous gets more time in the cooker to be a better title and to fill the next window, and there's still enough exclusives to battle it out against the multiplatform titans, that will inevitably steam roll the exclusives.

According to this, the Xbox One's launch exclusives (in terms of volume) aren't much greater than the PS4's, unless you count one more title "a very good launch line up" in comparison to its competitor.

Exactly. And we know how Sony will support their consoles each and everyday, way past their expiration date. Xbox was dropped like a bomb, 360 is getting a few remakes, and has Titanfall next year. PS3 had The Last of Us, GT6, Puppeteer, Beyond, GoW: Ascension, etc..

I have faith in Sony supporting the PS4 with a plentiful amount of games. It may not be all at launch, but it will be steady for years to come.
