Sony's Gamescom Media Briefing On "Release Plans for PlayStation 4"

If Namco does a tails xbone exclusive after looking at this data they are Full on retarded and the game deserves to bomb

Other Japanese devs sould look at it too. Lol if Ms does a platinum moneyhat though. Their games don't even sell well In Japan.

With Tales, the producer was confident in saying their games would stay on PS platforms since that's where the fanbase is. They likely won't jump into next gen right away though - expect the next mainline title to be on PS3.

Yea it looks like Namco learned their lessen and Sega seems to know where their fanbase is for Yakuza so that is good. I really do hope Japan devs see the huge amount of data proving their games sell much better on playstation platforms and don't make xbone exclusives. Multiplatform is fine though.

for some reason, I believe konami is one of other Japan devs that CBOAT cannot confirm now. And Sega actually take moneyhatts, you know, Yakuza 1&2 for U.

Sega will not make a xbone yakuza exclusive with Nagoshi in charge of the series. yakuza. 1, 2 was just a experiment anyway.

I do not know, Nagoshi seems not happy about the WiiU port while Sega still make the deal with nintendo. And big N certainly will not pay as much as MS...

Nintendo might have signed a base multi-game deal, which is why Yakuza 1+2 was thrown in without any chance of it actually selling.

It's not like Nagoshi would really care about an old port happening on another platform. In the interview he did after Y1+2 for the Wii U was announced he seemed to try to make it clear multiple times that he still views Yakuza as a Playstation series.

It's pretty obvious since they only ported the HD remaster when 3, 4, 5 could have been ported instead.

yeah, Yakuza 1&2 definitely not the main part of the deal.
What I mean is if MS pay enough, it's possible they get a exclusive new Yakuza.

It looks like the grave overestimation of MS moneyhat power has happened again. Remember all the speculating on the xbone exclusive madden, Fifa, battlefield 3, COD, MGS5 next gen version, ect.

MS never went after the series when it was on PS3 - why would they start caring now?

They busy moneyhatting Jrpg at that time? And Yakuza series was not that important.
Now that there is less Jrpg to moneyhat this time, they try to get playstation's new flagship exclusive is quite understandable, IMO.

I never believe those rumor. Western devs is all about multi-platform now and it's quite expensive to pay for the big name exclusive.
However, japan devs is still prefer making exclusive game and seems very welcom to take moneyhat even it will hurt their franchise.

It's Platinum. Somehow I believe they're going to to something awesome again. I hope not.
Sorry, I'm just in shock right know. I need to relax.

Do what I've done and get the console in 5-6 years and play all the games you wanted to play at bargin bin prices.

They might try but most Japanese developers are already on board with the PS4 - namely with exclusives. MS has no year advantage this time and I'd like to think Japanese developers have a bit of sense after what happened this generation.
I'd hope so too, but money convinces companies to do many things. They might think take the moneyhat and then still make money when the timed exclusivity is over.

If this is true I'll just be waiting for eventual ps4 version, but like you said hopefully they learnt their lesson after this gen.

Sigh.

It feels as if Sony this announcement of a late October release is going to be the highlight of their conference, which would be underwhelming in my opinion.

Similar to how the highlight of Sony's E3 conference was their no DRM / used game policy, which I don't like(how it's the highlight).

I want some kick-ass looking exclusive(s) shown to be the highlight of Sony's conference, similar to how MS showed off Titanfall.

Because honestly, this late October release isn't a HUGE deal, perhaps only a 1 week headstart since it's likely the xbone will release in early November, likely November 5th with CoD Ghosts.

This post is probably going to be the exact opposite of how most feel, but oh well.

We know that we're getting Shadow Fall's MP and The Order's gameplay. Anything else so far is a surprise.

I agree with you but the reasoning presented in this thread for why they might not do that makes sense from a business perspective.

Why would that be underwhelming? PS4 is beating the Xbox One in preorders 4:1, Sony doesn't need to announce a dozen new games until next year.

I still think we'll get some good game news. Rumors have been pretty silent on that front. Outside of Shadow Fall's MP and something new from The Order (hopefully gameplay) we have no idea what's coming from a game point of view. I'm still willing to bet that they're going to show one of the new IPs that they're cooking up.

seeing MS is not streaming and PS4 is coming early. then it really makes no sense to blow load at gamescon. Sony isnt catching up that they need to one up.

I hope so man...

I'd just rather have people saying "omg, i cant wait till i get my hands on _____(enter ps4 exclusive here)" rather than "omg, october 21 release date"

But there's only so long Sony can ride on the hardware buzz, they'll need to reveal a couple of new games at the very least. Say, two new games, gameplay of E3 titles and then the hardware release date, that'd be a solid showing.

The trick with momentum is to keep it going, having a show with nothing new is going to garner 'is that it?' responses, which would kill momentum. Remember, nothing is considered a victory until launch and people buy the console. Sony need to keep surprising people right up to past TGS.

Yea, blowing a load is something one usually does in a very diar situation. There's like a 0% chance of it happening on Tuesday. I bet they will have one cool new game though. It is a big games show and they are streaming it plus hyping it on the EU blog.

This would be relevant if beating the Xbox One in sales was the only relevant metric in terms of success. How very short-sighted of you.

PS4 is also competing against every other electronic gadget this Christmas, including current gen consoles, smartphones, iPads, smart TVs etc. Then there's whatever Amazon and Apple might bring to the party. Sony needs to capitalise on the current situation quickly and give people a reason to spend their money on a PS4 instead of all the other things they could be spending it on instead, never mind the Xbox One.

I'm expecting 2-3 new games from Sony and we know Super Stardust is one of them. I do kind of wish MS would step up and stop throwing these softballs for Sony to knock out of the park.

Both consoles are going to sell out this holiday season

We know that Housemarque will be showing one of their exclusives for Sony there. That's probably the Stardust successor. I'd think that they'd also want to show off one or two new retails titles as well. Possibly Media Molecule's games and whatever Sony London has been up to lately.

I think one more big game announcement from SCE is in order at GC. Something that will get us excited about the future of PS4. The next new IP from Mm, GG or SSM.

If the following are announced / shown at Tuesday's conference I will be satisfied -

- PS4 UK release date (October)

- Gameplay from The Order: 1886

- New game from Media Molecule or Sony Santa Monica

- A new build of DriveClub that lives up to the fidelity of the original trailer.

If I get those I'll be totally happy as I'm not expecting many new game announcements.
