Weakest story in the series mostly because it didn't need to be told.

But Ascension certainly has some of the series highest points in my opinion.

E3 as a whole was pretty disappointing and mediocre. Too much focus on these screw job always online/persistent world games. I only had 5 games marked down as impressive for the entire event and a few come out this year: Infamous, The Witcher 3, MGS 5, BF4's multiplayer and Watch Dogs.

I pre ordered all the ps4 exclusives and some multi platform versions but most of what I saw looked early

talking about exclusives, I don't know who is on the same boat as me but if Sony doesn't announce any new titles during Gamescom I will probably go back on my pre order, reconsider most likely for easter. not a single japanese game, knack looks way too kiddy, will opt for GT 6 instead of driveclub, will opt the PC for Battlefield and the silver lining, killzone will have abysmally small online crowd

It would pretty much be a original IP, with gameplay and setting completely changed, but the gore intact. Only reason it would carry the GoW name is for sales.

Skype is on Vita, but it isn't integrated with the OS like it will be on the Xbox One. I don't expect it to be on the PS4, either. Sony would have announced it by now.

I kinda see Skype being an app for PS4 I do imagine the PS4 will have allot of apps for it's eco system.

They have five notable ones [3rd party exclusives]. But I think the question you're asking is, 'Does Sony have any notable Western exclusive?' The answer is they have one which is going to be considered pretty goddamn huge when it's unveiled.

I was told to come expecting to be impressed [by Sony's gamescom press conference]. So, if they're doing more of the same, I question how they intend to impress me.

It's [GTA V] definitely getting a next gen release. Matter of when rather than if. PS3/360 aren't the only platforms it will ever appear on.

Better SCE showing than E3.

Though, I'm comfortable saying SCE is going to have a better showing at GC than at E3. I also realise the joke in that since they only showed one new game at E3 so I understand the bar isn't exactly high.

I'm excited. For me, GC > E3.

Release date is being announced next week. It was held because Japan was still being confirmed and they couldn't announce it confidently as early as June. Not to mention various other issues. It has little to do with MS. The release is very soon so MS wouldn't really be able to react regardless, but no specific date could be announced in confidence either a couple months ago.

Pretty exciting since it feels a little fresh. It's going to be a good show from the looks of it. Vita finally getting a little love too. It'll be treated as Cinderella (like crap that means) soon after so the world isn't really ending.

On the question of what is Sony preparing for next year. One big game a quarter. Infamous taking one slot obviously. Others coming after. Then a smattering of smaller titles here and there.

Rocksteady's next game will also have some exclusives for the PS4.

That's ten for you, all 'AAA' ones. Bear in mind there are sequels to existing franchises also for PS4, and also other SCEJ/SCEE/SCEA projects coming. More than 2/3 of those '30 titles in development from SCE WWS' will be AAA releases or retail releases. Also, keep in mind that 10 of them are coming beyond year one. Now, our perception of what is AAA could differ (for example, I consider Knack AAA just like I consider Killzone to be), but those are games with strong budgets.

Plus, SCEE has something to show for Gamescom.

Part of that was also due to the fact the PS3 released a year later. With Japan being lower priority than the rest of Asia this time around I don't think MS will throw money around again in that region. It got them no where in the end.

Japanese developers got royally fucked on that deal. Just look at how long it took Namco to get the Tales base figured out. The third party bets on 360 didn't have any hope of panning out, because Japanese gamers were going to stick with the Sony box that had Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Yakuza, Gran Turismo, and all the multiplatform games.


They won't be making such mistakes again. And Microsoft's inability to moneyhat is probably why they formed Team Osaka, and probably why Japan has become a tier 2 (now tier 3?) country.

Don't forget the 1st party AAA stealth game About the major western 3rd party exclusive: Some including SolidSnakex and me have been speculating it might be Agent resurfacing. Basically Rockstar still owes Sony one exclusive (as far as we know at least), so it could be that. We think it might have been put on hold, because Sony wants Rockstar North working on it, but they were already busy with GTA V. So I think it could come back soon. Otherwise I can only see GTA V next gen exclusivity, but unlikely I think.

And besides Rockstar I can only see Ubisoft as a potential partner.

Maybe but the reason I am skeptical is that both FF XIII and XIII-2 sales were disproportionately in favour of the PS3.

I think the player base of those games consists largely of Playstation gamers, due to platform history/association. Same with Metal Gear Solid.
