I'm using the sound card thats onboard my motherboard, and i think im starting to notice the difference lol

If you play games, get an Audigy.

If you need good audio for music/recording... get something not made by Creative Labs, although the Audigy 4 might not be such a terrible option from what I read about it.

They've got a new version coming out in September from teh sounds, but this should be good enough and comes with some games.

Well, no, Creative Labs has a nasty habit of fucking with your audio despite effort put in other areas. More specifically, forcibly resampling everything to 48kHz internally(they MIGHT have made this optional in the audigy 4 hence what I said earlier). So really, if you need to do any remotely serious audio work, then you're better off staying away.

Believe it or not, the $25 Chaintech 7.1 has been very nice in my experience.

But it really depends if you want to hook up a surround setup, what exactly you're going to use the card for, etc. But for the best bang for the buck, I recommend the AV-710.
