I agree the amount of times the shake weight splooged and gave cab fare became repetitive... but it was still a good episode! For the longest time, we had a good ending to an episode. Recent endings have felt rushed or dumb. This one was perfect.

ohh, i'm really sleepy.

Now the big question becomes "Will episode 200 and 201 be included in the SEASON 14 DVD?"

I'm sure Comedy Central is going to do their best to cut out those 2 episodes from the set due to fear of muslims attacking Viacom, but Trey and Matt hopefully will win the fight and get the 2 episodes on the DVD.

I have no doubt they'll be included, but whether or not certain things will remain censored is another question.

Digital Bits has some news about 200 and 201 from the Blu-Ray season 14 set.

Finally, here's something that's likely to upset South Park fans: We've just gotten our hands on the Blu-ray release of Comedy Central Home Entertainment's South Park: The Complete Fourteenth Season, and while it does have the episodes 200 and 201, it includes both as aired on Comedy Central, with the 2-minute "moral of the story" from 201 bleeped out on all audio tracks. The subtitles for this portion of the episode say "BLEEP" the whole time. The episodes at least have mini-commentary from Trey Parker and Matt Stone, in which they address the controversy and the censorship, but even much of that is bleeped! I could be wrong, but I suspect that's actually a deliberate joke, given the tight spot Parker and Stone are in with regard to the issue. On the track, Parker actually says, "We really can't even talk about it here. Probably the thing we could talk about is just the fact that..." and then it's all BEEPED until the end of the commentary, when you hear Stone say "... And so that was basically it." Commentary over. Now, that's kind of funny. But couldn't Comedy Central have at LEAST let the actual episode dialogue through in subtitle form? Anything? To quote Cartman: "Lame."

I didn't expect them to put 200 and 201 on there uncensored. I'm just glad they released them at all. I was afraid they'd leave those two off the DVD and Blu-Ray sets.

New episodes next Wednesday!
This was a longer off-season period than Matt & Trey normally take so my expectations are much higher. Seems like forever since Shake Weight goodness.

I'm guessing it was longer because they were extremely busy with The Book of Mormon.

Speaking of which, I need to go down to NYC to see it. Apparently it's rather amazing.

Haha, getting one ticket might be hard enough, let alone two. Apparently it's sold out every freaking night.

I haven't been down to NYC since December. I'm in Albany, so it's only a two-and-a-half hour train ride, but the winter was so shitty that I never got a chance to go down.

For real for real?

What was wrong with season 14? I thought the middle was weak (crippled summer through it's a jersey thing all seemed subpar) but the rest of the reason was awesome. I don't think that other than that lull there was a bad ep all season.

I wasn't a big fan of Crippled Summer when it first aired but found it hilarious in subsequent rewatches. All of the shoutouts to classic Warner Bros. bits were hysterical. Whereas Insheeption doesn't hold up well at all.

I dunno It just fell flat not to many laughs for me. I did enjoy "Medicinal Fried Chicken" though.

No love for the Mysterion or Mohammad mini arcs? To each their own, but with those and the tale of scrotie I'd have to say I thought it was a strong showing.

Honestly I was ready to agree with you til I went back and looked at the episode list from the season, there was a lot of good ones I had forgotten about.

Don't understand how this show does it after being on the air so long. I'm not even sure I consider myself a fan, but I don't think I've ever seen an episode of South Park I'd even consider mediocre.

I actually quite like the episode you mentioned.

The only episodes I'm not personally fond of are the older episodes (anything before season 8). But that's largely due to how anachronistic they are in terms of content and presentation (the latter of which seems to lack a certain energy that I can't seem to put my finger on - but that could be a result of the former *shrug*).

I'm really excited about our new episode. Saw some boards today and it was hilarious.

Also, Matt and Bill Hader said happy birthday to me yesterday because they overheard other lower-tier peeps talking about it. It was nice.

That is all.

And from the songs I've heard, Book of Mormon is fucking hilarious and I need to make my way to NY this summer to see it for sure.

I'd like to rewatch South Park - though I'd begin from season 5, which is where the show generally started to seem less funny to me. The more on-the-nose the show's politics became, the more it turned me off. Lately it's been insufferable and I simply stopped watching regularly. I think it's been dreadful for quite a fair few years now. 200 was alright for the fanservice, but then 201 was dreadful, just absolutely horrendous. Sadly, I don't believe for an instant that the "moral" ever existed in an uncensored form, and as a result I fear the stunt may have - unintentionally - stirred up a lot of unpleasant anti-Islam sentiment.

However, the show's routinely praised and I fear I may be missing something, so I'm gonna have to go back and give it another go - try to get into the right mindset. I don't mean to shit on it or it's fans, it just wasn't for me.

Not Without My Anus is still hilarious.

People who don't like the politics in South Park amaze me. I mean, seriously, the series came into its own from the movie and season 4 onwards.

I haven't liked some of the really recent episodes though. The cooking one was funny though.

Seasons 4-8 are god-tier and there is no denying it.

I don't dislike the politics, more how they're presented.

However, when South Park makes a point, any point, a lot of people latch onto it, and look to the show to provide their political sensibilities for them, or simply use it as evidence that they're right. It's quite wearying. I'm glad that Trey and Matt are allowed to do what they do, though.

Seasons 4-8 are god-tier and there is no denying it.

You're right. I'm really being a bit unfair in my cut-off point - didn't season 8 alone have Awesom-O and Good Times With Weapons?

Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.
I just love that it's one of few shows that's able to stay fresh by referencing current events. It could go on forever if it wanted.

Other shows have tried and failed to do modern pop culture references (Simpsons I'm looking at you).

Yup, but that also means that the more recent episodes may not hold up quite so well on re-watching.

There are a few episodes that are flat-out godawful.

A Million Little Fibers is easily the worst episode of South Park.

Those were easily the worst episodes of the season. Too bad they span 5 episodes total. I didn't like Insheepshion as well. It was just such an easy repeat of the actual movie. Meh.

The other 7 episodes were all right.

Maybe it's because of the new season coming out, but southparkstudios.com episode player is broken for me.

I can only click the random episode link, all others seem to have no effect.

No way! A Million Little Fibers is awesome. The dialog between Oprah's vagina and anus throughout the entire episode is ridiculous.

One of the best things about South Park is watching people say how they've peaked, only to have that idea blown out of the water by the next episode.

The show's never really been consistent - but the highs are amazing.

Had no idea new episodes were were airing on Wednesday.

I'll always believe that South Park was MUCH better back in its earlier seasons, but it's never, ever been bad. A few great ones, some small (VERY small) duds, but still great overall.

Can't wait!

South Park was at its best during the first four or five seasons.

I disagree. I've been a big fan of the show since it started and I'd have to say the best seasons are generally 5/6-10(though I have favorites from all seasons)... seasons earlier than that hadn't hit the mark with what the show was going to do best and seasons afterwards are becoming increasingly full of non-ideas. What I mean when I say non-ideas for shows is they just pick a topic that's popular in the news, put it into the show, and have the boys say "someone has to do something about this!" It's a formula that is growing really old. What happened to the boys being boys? Why do they constantly feel the need to help people or stop problems with society? That's why I love it when they have episodes like the Mysterion trilogy. That's a lot of original story and gags there and doesn't need many pop culture/news references(though it does make a few still).

The best South Park episodes usually revolve around stories having to do with the characters, the town, and the boys. Not the news. Though stories about news stories were fine many seasons ago because they knew how to handle them and they were few and far between...

I'm still a big fan but I long for the days of episodes like "Quest for Ratings" and "Casa Bonita". They didn't need to shoot for anything big or sensationalist like they do now because they really knew how to make a short, interesting story about their own classic characters. Episodes like that are few and far between at this point.

Agreed. Nostalgia will always make some people say the earlier seasons were better. They were awesome but the latest seasons have had some of the best episodes of the entire show.

Only time I truly didn't like the show was right around the era where Chef was being killed off. Seemed a bit stale.

I'm not judging old/new episodes based on nostalgia. I've seen all the episodes pretty recently and I just laugh so much more at the older episodes/jokes.

Is Bill Hader still a consultant for the show? I was under the impression (and Wikipedia corroborates) that he only did that for one season. Hope you could shed some light on this, it's awesome that someone who works on the show posts here :)

Count me in the camp that thinks the show only gets better. I never watched the show with any consistency growing up, but when I did catch an episode, I often just tolerated the show - I'd simply watch it when it was on, get a few chuckles, and that was my fill. But around 06-07, the show just seemed to take on a new level of genius, IMO. Maybe it's just me going through the changes.

xxracerxx

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
To this day what separates South Park from shows like The Simpsons is the speed in which they pump out current event episodes.

Watching the Simpsons and seeing a damn Avatar joke a year or so after the movie was relevant, where as South Park will have it the week of release.

I definitely consider myself in the camp that prefers the earlier seasons.

The show really hit its peak between Seasons 3 and 8. I liked it better when the show was a parody of small town life with a bit of pop culture and current events thrown in.

Episodes like "Are You There God? It's Me, Jesus," "Chinpokomon," "Helen Keller! The Musical," and "Proper Condom Use" have aged extremely well. But I don't think the more topical ones from more recent seasons will.
