of course not, he had spartacus cornered at that point and there was no way for him to loose basically, would have to be an idiot to agree to any terms of surrender and that's not even counting the whole "encourages other slaves to rebel" if spartacus gets away with it

I really don't think "died decades latter in completely unrelated circumstances" is a big victory, by that logic no one ever in the history of mankind has won any war ever since every victor eventually dies

Twas sarcasm my friend. Text does not convey tone properly, this is my mistake. Apologies.

Tokubetsu has been doing a rewatch of the first few seasons and is compiling high res screenshots here if anyone wants them. Some cool stuff in here:

Since I've just recently started watching the season (I've just finished episode 4) I avoided this thread to not spoil myself. But man, I just have to say this. In season 2 I found Neavia annoying, but I could still tolerate her due to what happened to her. But in this season, after episode 3 and 4, I simply hate her. Lying bitch that use her past painful experiences to excuse her desire to slaughter all (Roman) men, even if such a man is innocent. And now she's been setting Crixus against Spartacus. :/

You are not alone in this friend. I didn't hate her, but jesus she was psycho! I can see how everyone else disliked her though. Crixus really shines in this season though, it almost make me wish he had his own arc in a whole other season because Manu Bennett is amazing.

For those looking for more swords and shield bloodshed try Vikings. Sure, no massive gore or sex like Spartacus and is a slow builder, but it may help fill the void of no more Spartacus.

Not nearly in the same league in my opinion but still a good series none the less.

In the end Spartacus did win though, Rome did start to treat its slaves better and started using less of them.

that did not happen until 40 years later i think so Spartacus revolution did not had any effect in that matter.

Also i rewatched blood and sand again. and t was a much better show with all the politics and arena fights. nothing in season 2 or 3 matches it. also Andy performance is so much better than Liam

The political rule changes happened later, but the slavers did start treating their slaves better. Partially caused by fear of the Spartacus revolution.

Fuck, what an amazing series. Liam really grew into the character for the final season. The last three episodes hit me like a train. The tears were flowing like blood. I'm glad the show ended when it did. This could easily have turned into a train wreck, but it seems like Starz knew what they were doing. That was enough for me to look into their other programs.

The end credits were beautifully done. Seeing all of the characters made me realize how long I've been following the show and its been a fantastic journey. Andy having the final line was like a punch in the stomach. Fuck, what an amazing series.

In Blood and Sand yes, but Liam has that look and his voice is much deeper than Andy's so I don't know how well Andy would have done towards the end. But this is just based off the fact that we were robbed of Andy and got Liam. Had Andy still been alive, I may be singing a different tune.

Vengeance got spotty but I think that has more to do with the audience getting used to Liam than it being a Andy > Liam thing. Liam totally killed these last few stretches of War of The Damned to the point where I can't even imagine Andy trying to sell some of these lines. At the end of it they both brought something to the show.

Much in the same way that the different Naevia's did. I know it was sort of cool to hate on Naevia, especially after the recast but imo, it worked in the character's favor. Original Naevia was this sweet, innocent and naive character and her transition into this bitter scarred and angry person, a completely different person, was driven further home by the recasting. Need to remind you that she was not only thrown into a mine to basically toil 'til death, but was also passed between houses as a rape slave for months.

Still adding shots as I go. They aren't in any real order, sorry about that but still. They're all 1920x1080 and sourced from my bluray discs:

Af far as nudity goes I think minus frowns on that so I'm trying to keep those shots kinda lowkey but I admit to having shots of Illythia haha, if anyone is looking.

Some really nice shots in there - the show looks great off of the blu-ray discs. Thanks for posting them.

I know I'm late to this but I just wanted to say a few things about the show. I think it would be easy to take a very elitist approach to the show. It is relatively base and excessive. It's a show that knew exactly what it wanted to be and it embraced it episode after episode. Sometimes it did feel like they filmed a sex scene just because they could. And dropping the article isn't exactly the most difficult manner of approaching believable dialogue but it worked. Watching this season along with (in contrast to) The Walking Dead made me realize how much I love that philosophy. I would sit there bored out of my mind at the uninteresting and uneventful trudge that is an episode of TWD. It made me realize simply how entertaining Spartacus was on a week to week basis. From beginning to end I would sit there and not leave until the episode was over. Spartacus did what so many shows fail to do: entertain me. For that I am glad to have watched for these three years. I wish everyone involved with the show success going forward.

its a guilty pleasure, I know this was not a great show. but a damn entertaining one. the focus is clearly on gore and sex, its porn in every way. but the drama was not as bad as one would suspect, especially season 1s story was not bad at all.

its such a shamw whitfield passed away. Mcintyare was really bad in season 2, I know its an impossible feat to replace a passed away actor, but he was much better in season 3 in every way. I enjoyed season 2 the least I think.

I enjoyed spartacus and I am looking forward to whats next, give me knights, barbarians, Mongols or romans again, I am ready for more.

Shame there really can not be a true Season 4 considering the remaining slaves who fled eventually got killed by Pompei's army in southern Italy.

Pretty sure they addressed this when they had pompei say "we killed the remaining rebel slaves in the north" while concurrently agron was saying something about how half of the fleeing slaves in the mountains were killed.

i could be wrong, but i think at least half of the fleeing slaves survived in this series.

No, there was a video interview with the Stephen D. Knight, and he specifically talked about history and the slaves that did managed to escape. All of them were killed few years later by the Romans.

Spartacus was most definitely a great show from episode 4 of the first season up through the end of Gods of the Arena. Season 2 was where it declined to a good show punctuated with great character moments. The third season was something of a return to form. While it never quite recovered from the cast changes, and although the writers missed some promising opportunities to make the plot more interesting, Spartacus season 3 was still one of the best shows on television. The twists, the plots within plots, the character-to-character intrigue...you'd be hard pressed to name more than a few series that did that kind of drama better. And that's before you even consider Spartacus's merits as a historical adaptation and an action show.

DeKnight said on twitter that Agron and Nasir took up goat farming. They lived on to be the hottest elderly couple ever.

Finally saw the finale.

"If only you were born a Roman"

What a great fucking show. I loved how they speared Spartacus. I was kinda hoping that Crassus would offer his sword so that he can end his own life, but i cant complain, great ending.

I'm totally down for a spinoff with Crassus, Caesar and Pompeii. Seems like the stage is set as well.

If they do a spinoff, I would be alright with them consolidating a lot of what happened between the three to a span of 3-4 seasons.

TV needs more shows like this! Great finale. Liam definitely grew into the Spartacus role this season.

I would really like Starz to do something along these lines again...but with just a little less "rawr!" and slow-mo. Was pretty ridiculous at some points.

I hope they knock it out of the park with their new pirate show and sci-fi show (if it goes into production).

Just finished it. Sad to see the show end. Definitely in my top 10 series. Wonder what the writers are working on next?? Whatever it is I'll tune in for sure.

Just finished the final 2 episodes.

It's really weird... I have been watching this show since the 5'th ep of season 1 and I have never not watched an episode on the day of, or a single day later since. But I knew this was it... this was the end of this show and I didn't want it to end. I have been sitting on these last two episodes for months now... I literally had nothing better to do tonight and decided to just get it out of the way.

All I have to say about these last two episodes is "Holy Fuck". Absolutely perfect. I wouldn't change a frame of it. This is one of my most beloved television series' of all time and I will be leaving it totally and utterly content and satisfied. That doesn't happen often so it feels damn good to watch it happen here.

And how perfect were those ending credits? Fucking perfection man. The cast and characters throughout this series were so god damn good. And that last clip of Andy screaming "I. AM. SPARTACUS!!!" fucking beautiful.

I stood up in my room and gave this show a standing ovation after those credits. You're damn right I did and I don't give a fuck who knows. This show was utterly brilliant and I feel privileged that I was able to be entertained by it for so many years.

Ugh I wish this Starz stuff was still on Netflix. Never got beyond Season 2 but it sounds like the show held up well. Will need to find some time to watch the rest.

Is a Bluray compilation of the whole series planned for the holidays?

Such a no-brainer if yes.
DVD/blu-ray for War of the Damned are scheduled for a Sept 3rd release. No word on a full series set, but you have to figure they've at least thought about it.

Just marathoned the season over the last few days after keeping it saved up for the right time. By Jupiter's cock, there was not one moment of disappointment! I will never agree with those who thought Liam was in any way inadequate, even though Vengeance was the weakest season. I would have preferred it if Andy could have remained in the role, because of course it would meant he would have lived. But Liam's Spartacus is flawless to me.

Many a manly tear was shed in the finale. I am not ashamed.

- Crassus was amazing. So incredibly good from beginning to end.
- Caesar grew on me. Especially after he cut his damn hair!
- Was shocked to find out just minutes ago that Laeta was Jules from Cabin in the Woods. I probably knew about her casting months ago, but clearly forgot. The hair really threw me.
- Crixus :(
- Gannicus :')
- Those credits :'(

So completely satisfied.

So there is a freebie for Xbox which seems to be based on the show - I havent checked it out yet but any other Spartacus fans who have a xbox might want to check it out.

It is a free-2-play game for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, not a very good one though.

Compared to other free - 2- play games? I disagree COMPLETELY.

I've put in at least 12 hours in the past two days. I've had two warriors die online and I went through one of them with a 39 and 12 record. He died in his 52nd battle and I didn't revive him.

Now I'm hoping that over the next week I'll be able to recruit a...
...darked skinned, 2 slotted double sword gladiator.

Right now my only fighter is a dual dagger guy. He sucks..

.

Liam's only flaw was that, imo, he was way undeveloped athletically.

He's taller than Andy and that's about it.

Blood and Sand is still the best season, but the finale was quite possibly the best of all the episodes.
