Such an amazing show. Will watch in glorious Blu-ray soon. It had been too long. Stupid that they never did the Caesar spinoff though.

And message from Ashur to anyone who did not see it yet:

Yeah! They had perfect opportunity for that. Few seasons of him wrecking shit in Gaul and then return to Rome where Crassus has prepared the ground for takeover.

at last, for christ's sake
it's a completely trash show, but the good sort; underneath all the gore and porn for adolescents there's a solid, if thin script. There were times I had enough of the show portraying the Romans as dirty beasts and the rebels as super liberal awesome freedom protoamerican megafighters though; last season did make up a bit for it, at least, showing how they were not immune to act as barbarians, and Crassus was one hell of an awesome commander and "villain"

Brilliant series, I didn't want it to end. I had the same reservations about Mcintyre as you and put off watching the second series for a while because of that but he really grew into it. I wouldn't have minded a few more seasons.

I did love this show, some really memorable quotes.

"I dont care if Jupiter himself parts the skies and dangles his cock, you will not be distracted!!"

"I don't like him. He stares with his teeth"

"Gratitude"

"One day Rome shall fade and crumble yet you shall always be remembered in the hearts of all who yearn for freedom."

Great finale. Loved the show too, Liam McIntyre did a great job carrying the sword forward.

Only watched the first season and the prequel. I heard it kinda fell off and I was satisfied just watching those two. But boy did I love those two.

Show was quite low budget so it broke apart when the locations weren't just limited to the three different places like in S1 and the prequel anymore.

Also it doesn't help that the best characters died at the end of S1.

Really didn't like his intro episode, and thought it was probably the only disappointing episode in the series. But by the time they stormed the Coliseum in Capua I was sold. He really did grow into the role and was unforgettable by the end.

Yep. His first fight scene against those dudes on horses was super janky, and didn't they put some of those Matrix camera moves in it? Awful.

He had me in Season 4, though. Naevia replacement never got me, though.

I found myself loving the villains more than the main characters of this show. Batiatus, Ashur and Crassus were all top tier antagonists.

First episode was terrible tough. Had to restart watching the show a bunch of times over the years before I finally made it through.

Yea the first episode is so derivative of other things and in such a shoddy manner. It felt like a terrible, cheap retread of Gladiator with a bad 300 knockoff visual style. It's not until the end of Ep 3 for me (
at least I think it's end of ep3 - the moment when Spartacus forfeits to Crixus
) that the show takes a sharp step in it's own direction and almost instantly finds it's groove. From Ep 4 on it's just a wild ride.

I might rewatch this soon, so fucking good. It's criminally underrated, and I think Liam did a solid job stepping into the role.

RIP Andy

I had my doubts because Andy WAS Spartacus, and like others have said it took Liam a couple of episodes to convince viewers he was capable of handling the role but in the end he pulled it off.

And fuck, no shame in admitting I shed giant manly tears during the finale.

Still mad the rumored Caesar spin-off never happened.

Loved season 1 and the prequel. Never ended up finishing the series though. I just couldn't get into Liam as Spartacus.

Also felt that the setting was so strong season 1 and it kind of faltered in season 2 (outside the Ludus).

I should watch season 3 at some point.

Also for those select few who didn't know... Liam voices JD Fenix in Gears of War 4! I Look forward to hearing his voice work after portraying the mighty Spartacus.

NeoGAF's smiling token!
I still remember watching the 1st episode of the series and just how ridiculous it was, so glad I kept watching because talk about a season that improved with each episode. As for Liam he did take a bit to come into his own, but he pulls it off and what a way to go out and here's a gif that hasn't been posted yet:
