Spartan Total Warrior

Who is going to be picking this up this week? I hear that there is a demo out.. Any impressions? This title seems to have a tractor beam effect on me and I can't escape it. It probably will be an impulse purchase for me.

When I went to Digital Life in New York, Sega had the full game playable in one of their booths. I've played it for about 3 hours. I have to say, the game is crack. Pure crack. Which I have to say, is somewhat shameful for me, because while playing it, my mind is telling me that the action is repetitive, and the game is very linear, something as a veteren gamer I should not like. But for some reason I just couldnt put the damn joystick down!!! There's something about having 100 Romans running at you and chopping them down like a madman. I am definitely getting it. To add, there is some extenability. Throughtout the game, there are secret scrolls to pick up that shows you some of the art work and design documents in the game. You could also find extra weapons and armour that you could use in the Colosseum mode, which is basically a survivor mode.

Picking it up along with The Warriors and either Sniper Elite, SOtC or X-men Legends 2 @ the TRU sale.

I wish my fucking copy of OXM would have gotten here before it came out but oh well

I recently found out that the game surprises you with sudden changes of pace: one minute you're in a huge epic battle, the next you're going around the city eliminating would-be tattle-talers...

The only worry I had was the game would be boring with the same stuff, over and over again. Now I'm sold.

I want to secure Soul Calibur 3, Resident Evil 4 and Spartan Total Warrior through the Toy r Us deal, but have a feeling that I won't be able to get there in time to grab them. I wish that the online version would let you do pre-orders that arrive this week.

So that makes me happy to hear there is a colliseum mode..sounds fun. Any other replay type of bonuses that would keep the game fresh?

How long is the game?

I just want it because it seems to provide Dynasty Warrior action where the guys around you are actually helping you out and fighting their own battles.

That mission was so incredibly frustrating, because it was so damn long and one little mistake meant you had to start all over again. *cringe*
Really fun game otherwise though, apart from a bit of a wonky camera. :)

I'm not sure how long the actual game is. I played for about 3 hours and I only got through about 4-5 levels. There are secrets that you can find in the game as well, so I guess that raises replay value.

The engine is pretty cool, definitely DWish but the game seems to be only about half epic battles. The other half is smaller-scale missions. There are tons of scripted events and such...it reminds me a lot more of EA's LotR games than Dynasty Warriors, though the production values definitely aren't up to LotR levels. (The voiceovers are hilariously awful, for instance.) I need to play it some more...right now, I have no concept of the game's length.
