Spectre's opening theme/intro is so terrible. Falsetto, tentacle porn, Cthulhu?

Hey, there's nothing wrong withy hentai tentacles.

Casino Royale is one of the best, I agree on that. Just like the movie itself I feel like the sequels never reached that level again.

I always thought Quantum of Solace had an underrated theme - it was just undermined by being put over a thousand Coke Zero adverts prior to release.

Then again, I also think the film works as an epilogue to Casino Royale and ranks above both Mendes films.

Fuck Spectre. Defending any aspect of it is a waste of time.

What the shit? The imagery is some of the best in the series. It's the godawful music that drags it all down.

I really like the opening titles to Spectre. At least the graphics. I can never decide a out the song.

Quantum Of Solace should have used Adam Buxton's cover as the song -http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/adamandjoe/2009/08/bond-is-back.shtml

Have to be honest I rather like it. Well, at least for the first verse and chorus. Then it gets very repetitive. The visuals are great throughout though.

The movie is decent enough (not great, but decent) mostly through style, but everything from the explosion of Hans Landa's desert base until the end feels cheap and tacked on.

Great song, but like...Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever, Thunderball, the freakin' James Bond theme by John Barry, You Only Live Twice etc. etc.

You are kind of comparing apples to oranges there.
A View to a Kill should be compared to other Bond rock anthems like Live and Let Die,The Living Daylights and You Know My Name.

Not only is Casino Royale the best out of the D-Craig films, it's one the best of all time.

Come at me bros.

That's not a controversial opinion (though Bond film ranking tend to vary a lot since there are so many films)

raw

I would venture to say it's the best of all time, at least is my favorite

I know you hate Spectre and all but the opening is standard Bond fare.

I actually like the opening visuals for Spectre, particularly with the part with the bullets come raining down and everything looks all inky. It's neat.

Everything about this movie is awful. Especially that theme song. What the Hell were they thinking. Doesn't even match the visual during the opening.

Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby, you're the best

The GOAT, standing right beside Live and Let Die.

Oh god I'd forgotten about this song.
I remember seeing it in theaters now. Maybe there's a worse Bond song, I don't have them all in my head, but this one has to be up there.

I am glad Spectre exposed Mendes as the Hack he is. And in my opinion Skyfall was an even worse movie that was saved by its incredible cinematography for a lot of people.

About Bond songs there are a lot of great ones.

My top five would be:

* You only live twice
* Goldfinger
* We have all the time in the world
* For your Eyes only
* A view to a kill

Spectre is what happens when everyone is still busy bowing for the last film. The film was bad and the song was terrible. I remember shaking my head in disappointment when I heard he was selected to sing. Should have just been Adele again if you couldn't think of a good follow up.

Sam Smith is terrible, so that really doesn't help. He sounds like he's got a mouth half-filled with Big Mac all the time - what's with that?

I still can't believe anyone thought that a demo was good enough for an intro. It's absolutely terrible and visually it had a few decent ideas but terrible execution. Such mess of a film...

Loved the movie, sorry about all those still hurt a Bond movie wasn't at citizen Kane level

What a brave stance to take LOL, all I hear is praise for casino royale, many think it's one of the best

I think Mendes directing is what helped it turn out alright. It's the script that's shit. even the sony execs shit on it in that leak from a couple years back.

I didnt think they'd outdo Quantum of Solace's godawful terrible bondtheme but they somehow managed it.

Didn't mind the opening visuals in Spectre. Thought they were cool.

1) Poets of the Fall's cover of "You know my name" is fucking awesome!

2) I don't get it, what's so bad about "Writing's On The Wall"? Love that intro. It's pretty much a Bond intro.

I can dig the song, but it doesn't really fit Bond that much. And the visuals are really average. There are way worse offenses in this films though, it almost makes QoS look like a masterpiece. God what a waste and my hype for the next Daniel Craig bond films is basically zero now.

I'm really curious as to why they didn't use the Radiohead version. It's soooooo much better.

I'd assume they just thought Sam Smith would be more popular than Radiohead (which he is "currently" anyway since he's younger and more modern), even if the song is worse, they were gonna go with what got them the most hits.

I also wouldn't of minded Lana Del Reys 24, that and RH's Spectre are significantly better than Writing on the wall which even with the opening they did visually for it, just felt awkward.

The intro visuals are pretty good, I really don't get OP's ire.

Radiohead were robbed, though.

You aren't weird. Spectre was good. Some people have a weird hate boner for the film.

Most people dislike the film because of a variety of extremely legitimate reasons.

Craig is half-asleep, the story shoehorns in the previous films, it's formulaic in ways only the worst bond films were, the mysogyny is off the scale even for bond, etc...

It's a bad film.

I hated this song when it debuted on the radio but within the context of the film's (admittedly weak) plot I came around to feeling it made quite a lot of sense.

Somebody explain this to me (spoilers)

Remember the train they were on? Were they fought the "Muscle" and killed him? What has his plan again? Cause in the very next scene they just sit around and wait for the bad guy to pick them up. What was Bond's plan? Hope that Walz will send a driver and then hopefully mange to escape? Why even send the muscle after them if you are just planning to pick them up with a friendly driver later on?

I can't believe no one mentioned this yet, but the greatest Bond theme isn't even from a Bond Movie:

Because it isn't a Bond film. :p But I agree. Snake Eater was a perfect homage of 60's Spy/Bond Films.

Chris Cornell's "You know My Name" is the only Craig-era Bond theme with a damn. There I said it.

Also, what did you expect when going with Sam "the-only-thing-I-know-how-to-do-when-not-working-with-Disclosure-is-make-gospel-boring" Smith?
