In a new report for Bloomberg, industry expert and analyst Jason Schreier has commented on the recent GTA 6 delay and why developers and publishers are still stressed about its new release date.

For other companies, Grand Theft Auto VI slipping was cause for panic. One developer working on a big multiplayer game told me that they had previously delayed their release date from Fall 2025 to Spring 2026. That was mostly because the game needed more time, but also to get away from GTA VI.

Schreier says other companies could delay again to miss the new May 2026 release date, but then GTA 6 could be delayed again.

There's no guarantee that May 2026 is a sure thing.

I have been saying this for a while: September 2026.

I'm with you on that one. Rockstar have historically announced a spring release and delayed to September. Not saying that it definitely won't make May, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to the end of 2026.

I thought they'd just say it's coming spring 2026 to give them some breathing room if they needed a month or two delay.

He hasn't revealed any major gaming news in the past few years. GTA delay the last example. All he talks about is internal affairs within studios, half of which are made up.

No matter, GTA 6 will sell regardless. So a delayed and better product won't affect their revenue at the end of the day. Take-Two has more than enough money to cover for the costs of a few more months of productions. The pay off is worth it.
