The whole movie was pretty interesting, but that last race made the film. I still remember watching it the first time when Speed's car has stopped and he jams the car into gear and blasts off. From that point on I just sat staring at the TV with my eyes and mouth wide open trying not to have a seizure from all the visual and audio overload I was receiving. When he crosses the finish line and his freaking tires are melting I felt exhausted and like I could finally breathe, this while the sound is all muffled and Speed's breathing slowly. I felt exactly like the character did in that scene and that's what good movies are always trying to do.

I got tears in the eyes everytime I watch this, either on bluray or even on youtube. I got manly tears because it is so awesome, and because in a way, I feel sad that I would never experience again the first shock that was to see Speed Racer in a theater
Same here.
My GF loves fantasy. It's just when things get too corny/cheesy that she draws the line. And Speed Racer has plenty of those moments.
But really, the movie is fantastic. One of my greatest regrets in life is not watching it in IMAX.
